Forest service camp spot. Mountain views in every direction. A few large spots to accommodate any size rig. There are numerous boondocking areas along the main rd. No view of the lake from this one, but very beautiful surroundings. Great cell phone reception.

Tried to park here but saw a sign “no oversized vehicle parking, hotel guests only” (see picture)
I called security and he said “yeah you’ll definitely get towed if you park here.”
You might get away with it, I don’t know if it’s actually enforced. But I didn’t risk it.

There is FREE water at the air pump near the gas station at Fred Meyer. It has a sign that says non potable, but the gas station attendant said that it is just city water; think they put that sign for liability. I drank it this weekend and was fine.

this is located at the seminol casino east side of the parking lot on the immokalee reservation (no camping elsewhere or rez— please respect that!). you can stay for one to three nights it is free but requires registration on a first-come-first-serve basis, offers over 10 spaces. i stayed in a full-size van.
in order to register you need to get a players card (free) and go to the security desk for permit. put your mask on and bring your ID and know your vehicle length and license plate. enter at the front, head to your left and keep going. it’s rather confusing and over-stimulating but soundproof headphones help a lot! the workers are very helpful if you get lost. get a players card and then go to the security desk and register! then you’ll get a yellow paper that you put in your windshield and you’re all set.

spots come with electrical hook ups, you’ll have to share with your neighbor.

Amazing spot to camp. In my 2WD Sprinter no issues at all on the hard pack sand. Most people were going left at the entrance so I went right. Nobody within 200 feet, at least. I was right across from the antenna tower on the road. Beautiful, quiet and windy. Quick tip - seems the wind always comes from the north end of the beach so point the vehicle towards it. Of course if the wind shifts, same rules of physics apply.

We camped a bit up the road from the main camping area. It is a right turn at mile marker 15. It’s a beautiful camping spot accessible for smaller vehicles like truck campers and vans with a little bit of clearance. The problem is there is no AT&T and Verizon cell service so you’ll love the spot if you don’t need your cell.

Enter at this pin and drive for a few miles south if you like. I went .7 miles south in my 2WD Sprinter with no issues. The sand is hard packed but you’ll just have to choose a good spot to turn right up towards the dunes to camp. Some of the sand between the packed path and the hard sand camp spots is soft but nothing too crazy. Saw one SUV get stuck but mostly because they did everything wrong. Even saw a corvette go past my van a few times so that should tell you everything about this road (and Texas!). Beautiful beach, great sun rise and set and everyone was very chill. There’s indoor not hot showers a few miles up at the visitor center if you’re looking to clean up.

Windy so make sure to point the van into the wind. Mostly seems to come from the north/northeast.

Very spotty at best T-Mobile service. A bar here and there.

Beautiful campground with tall moss covered trees. Large sites, half are closed in the winter. $11 off-season rate, honour system since no camp ranger came around. Firewood wasn’t available for same reason. I had no cell reception at all with Bell network.

Pepe (the owner of GRP) has been the most helpful and supportive person around Ensenada that we found on our stay. He helped us installing new shocks for our camper van, understanding how our Ford E-350 works and what kind of things it needs to keep it in good conditions, hooked us with a auto body shop to get our chassis fixed and cleaned from rust, and also put us in contact with another mechanic to change suspension parts that were about to break. Pepe is the guy to go to. We recommend him and his crew a 100% because they are very honest and will go the extra mile to help you. (For some odd reason I the app doesn't let me change my rating but I would rate this place 5/5 🌟

Large dispersed camping area near the lake. No view of the lake because of thick vegetation, but tons of campsites with good privacy from each other and the road. Just remember how you got in - the roads are a complete maze!

Road is closed as of writing for all sites in this area, including the one closer to Sedona. These are forest service roads and seem to be very muddy and under seasonal closing.

Overnight parking is allowed on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. No camping. Parking spaces are fairly tight. 15 amp power in center median for engine block heaters. Businesses nearby and gets busy on week days.

Great little restaurant close to the beach! They have both meat and vegan options (try the enfrijoladas for or tacos con solo verduras). They have outdoor seating, string lights at night, and are open for dine-in as of Feb 2021. They don’t serve alcohol but you can bring your own. Jenny and her family will make you feel right at home!

Open for dine-in as of Feb 2021. Nice restaurant with semi-outdoor patio seating. The lights, plants, and decor are nice. Pretty inexpensive. The only vegetarian option is beer (the waitress was very nice and apologetic). BF said the pollo tacos were fine. A few very friendly stray cats joined us which we enjoyed!

Fantastic restaurant for vegans and non-vegans! They are open for dine-in outside. We ordered the appetizer plate, and three burgers (all vegan style). The tacos al pastor we’re our favorite with the grilled pineapple on top, and the bean burger was our second favorite. The burgers are enough for 2+ meals. Definitely get a mango smoothie with coconut milk for dessert!

Small vegan market of one room inside a home. There is 1 cold case of beyond meat, other meat substitutes, and lots of cheese. There are 3 stands of some dried goods, mayo, egg substitutes, and tofu. Great option for picking up a few speciality items! The worker/owner was extremely helpful and spoke English. They accept credit and cash. Prices are expensive which is expected. There is an extremely friendly golden dog who may come say hi!

Gorgeous waterfall with multiple swimming holes. Park at Rancho Ecologico Sol De Mayo and pay $150 MXN per person to hike to the falls. During the hike, you come to a fork: turn left and descent to the main pool underneath the falls, or continue straight to hike to the upper pools. Takes only 5-10 min to get to the main pool, maybe another 10 min to the upper pools.

Wear sneakers for the hike, and get there early as it got crowded later in the day. Perfect place to escape the heat.
