Cracker Barrel parking lot. Big lot, had no issues, several vehicles parked for the night. The lot is tucked back off the main road so it's fairly quiet. I have parked here a few times, always feel safe

Near the Acueducto del Padre Tembleque, a must-see spot in my opinion.

The coordinates are at the north entrance, where there is a large flat open area. Any vehicle could make it.

There is a rough road which leads down and across the valley where there are more areas suitable for vans or tents.

I rode my motorcycle down closer to the railroad tracks and set up a tent. There were a few people there around sunset for photos, and then again in the morning a few people went past, but nobody bothered me. A police officer on an ATV went by as I was packing up my tent and he didn't stop or say anything.

The nearby town of Santiago Tepeyahualco has places to get food and water if you need.

We camped on this same side of the river, but on the other side of the road, there's a big pullout flat area great for a couple vans. Shallow but great swimming spots, rocks, little falls, kids had a blast.

Lots of space for all size rigs, you can drive in further to reduce highway noise. Where we are we barely notice the traffic noise from the highway. This is beautiful, safe place to stop for a night or more if you're so inclined. Great T-Mobile and Verizon.

Great spot away from the road. We drove about 1/4 mile back and found a small fire pit and set up camp. Perfect

Stayed at the jouflas campground about a mile off I-70 since the overlook spot was taken. Pit toilets, great rocks to climb on and pretty good views.

A big Shell Gas station with 1 cold shower and 2 toilets.
It's between the shop/restaurant and the car wash service.

The stuff and the owner (with shaved head) are very friendly and helpful.

We used the showers while staying overnight (on the weekend).
Some big buses stay there overnight too. So it can be loud, because they come and go during the night.
There are cameras installed, but the lights will be switched off after the stuff leave (even though the owner told us, that they are switched on the whole night).

We felt safe, but hadn't got a good sleep at all, because of the loud busses and the smell of their engines, which they switch off very late after arriving.

and like every public areas on sunday, it was full of Mexicans with alcohol music and loud cars...
so we didn't stayed here and went to sleep at the Chedraui spot as we had to buy stuffs.

Hidden from the road. Wind protecrion. No big rigs. 2WD no problem. With 4x4 you can continue to the beach and find some cleaner place. Lot of garbage. Poor Entel signal.

CAMP AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Shortly after parking there, two cops came up to us and said it was illegal to camp there overnight. Luckily they were friendly enough to recommend other places for us to camp. Showing them the iOverlander app at least made it clear that we were at least trying to do things right or they might have given us a ticket. Overall would not recommend.

Quiet and basic spot. A little further off the highway than other spots in area. It was really dry when we were there and we had no issues with a 2WD van.

Sergio, the owner of this workshop, is a man of few words and gets to work immediately. Fair prices, works fast. I don't think they speak English here.
I went to align and balance my wheels and ended up replacing a couple of parts with new and used ones, like suspension ball points, joints because of an excessive amount of rust damage my camper van had.
To fix anything regarding suspension, wheels and parts underneath, this is the place.

As advertised. Got very windy but it kind of suited the spot well. Bonus is that I saw a black bear right up close and coyotes way in the distance across the river. Sunset and sunrise were pretty epic. The tables are actually pretty nice and there are some bbqs if you bring your own charcoal. No cops at all and no issues. We’re probably about 4 other rigs and some nice folks.

Fuel station with a restaurant and a snack bar. Lots of room to stop the vehicle. Sparkling clean bathrooms (there's a person cleaning from 6am to 10pm). The last 2 showers have hot water (5 BRL for a shower, but the lady in the morning said she usually doesn't charge people :-D ).
