Quaint and fibrant full of locals enjoying the beach. So great to see and experiance as the only gringo here. fiesta music that did not go on too late and was not too loud, a few ATV's on the beach, nothing obnouxious. I'm fully self contained so I did not use the bathrooms. Restruant looked and smelled good. Freindly people

Now it's forbidden to stop here, we just arrived and a guy in the front house came and said its forbidden and police will remove us. We followed ahead and saw motorhome prohibited signs. We followed to the end of this street, to Maira and Fabio's House.

Ao parar aqui um senhor apareceu e disse que está proibido. Seguimos mais a frente e vimos placas de proibicao de motorhomes. Seguimos para o final dessa rua, na casa do Fábio e Maira, um excelente lugar para ficar.

We slept here 2 nights. Very quiet and safe at night. Better than in the city center I guess.

Water park with cabanas and flat camping area. Asked 180p pp, we offered 150p/100p pp with/without the use of pools, and they agreed. Wifi with small fee 20p. The family that runs the park are very friendly, we had a great stay here. Also worth mentioning we checked out 3 other water parks in this town, all others the camping was just in their parking lot and bathroom facilities were not always accessible at night. The camping area here is inside the park, there is shade and you can access the pool after hours if you wish.

Lovely, quiet campsite in the middle of nature with amazing views! 4x4 is necessary to drive there but the owners offer pick-up services and guided us with their car.

Another very dark, quiet night. The restaurant is now a Mexican family restaurant. There is water at the park and on the back of the building. Only about five 18-wheelers and they were clear down at the other end.

Perfect for 1 night, grass area in the mountain side, if you drive a few meters into the field you will be partiality hidden from the road. Good Megacom 4g connection, but not Beeline. Quiet at night, almost no traffic. View of the mountains and fields. Friendly locals.

next to the road, beautiful view. 42.69801, 74.81338

Another enjoyable night at a Cracker Barrel. Clear signage for RV / Camper parking and 3 designated spots. Rest of spots fit standard class b. 2 other rigs here when I arrived and 1 more when I left in the AM ~8am. Always so refreshing feeling welcomed! Thanks, Cracker Barrel!

Cool open terrain to drive through, with tons of sea-lions and some seals at this spot. No one was there when we were here just before sunset in the shoulder season. Lot of wind indeed.

Filled our RV tanks. They also do portable bottles. They opened both gates so we could drive straight through. Very convenient and cheaper than others we saw around there.

Nice chalets R350 pppn. They can also serve meals starting from R100 for breakfast. Note that they only take cash, and didn't have change when I was here.

Room is quite well equipped, including microwave, oven/cooker, fridge and fan.

We were pretty worried about the infamous Death Road… so here’s a “conditions report” to help you relax.

Left Mocoa at 6:45am and arrived at Laguna de la Concha around 12:45. We stopped for a second breakfast on the route. About 5-5.5 hours of driving. Mainly first and second gear, around 10 km/hr the entire way uphill. We aired down our tires 10 psi and it made the bumps a lot more manageable.

Ford Transit with AWD, BFG All Terrain tires… 4 tons, 6 meters long. Rained the day before, but not during our drive. Road was doable for any vehicle when we drove. You don’t need 4x4 or AWD.

The only ‘decent’ sized river crossing (the first one) was not passed my mid-calf. Small. Rocky bottom. I imagine during crazy rains it could be bad, but even with most rains, it’s probably fine.

Lots of blind corners that fit one vehicle but are for traffic in both directions. Locals drive this everyday. We saw a lot of people going fast and on their phone… 😅. Use your horn to your heart’s desire. I honked a good 163 times. Go slow, etc. For me (someone who loves offroading as much as that’s possible in a cargo van), it was the perfect amount of sketchiness to be enjoyable and exciting but not make me fear death or be truly anxious. There are some damaged sections with mudslides and STEEP drop-offs, but they’re short.

My biggest concern before driving was potential mudslides during any rainy/windy weather. After driving this personally, I would drive it in light rain conditions but nothing more. Mainly because mudslides terrify me.

Surprisingly, there was decent cell service during a lot of the drive. Lots of places to pull over, take a break, etc. the Trampolina is majorly overhyped as far as difficulty goes, in my opinion. We’ve driven much worse roads in Colombia.

We didn’t get a good amount of oncoming traffic until 9am. The earlier you leave, the less people you’ll have at the tight sections.

You got this! 😎

We had a second breakfast here while driving from Mocoa to Laguna de la Concha. Lots and lots of space. Pretty level. Could spend the night here if weather got bad while driving.

Beautiful place to visit. We were happy to discover that there were several "overflow" sites that could be used if you don't get a chance to reserve a site.

Ok spot for the night, but we didn’t feel so welcome. We stayed here after the Trampolina. We were told we could shower, but they never opened any for us. Bathrooms close when the restaurant closes. The grassy hill in front of the restaurant has a beautiful view. Fun spot for dogs to run around. The parking lot is in a seemingly chill/residential area, but there were quite a few sketchy characters around our van all through the night (Saturday) until 4:30am. Didn’t sleep well.

We weren’t able to consume much in the restaurant due to our diet, but we still got juices, coffees, and a dessert as a thank you. They charged a parking fee because we didn’t meet the quota… maybe 1-2 lunches or dinners? Unsure.

The busiest Walmart, I have ever seen in my entire life!! The parking lot was literally full of cars! I waited in line for probably half an hour to check out… They had almost every checkout open, including all self checkouts… Just a crazy busy Walmart!
