This place is a must!
very nice family who used to travel a lot with a vehicle (so they know all our need!). beautiful place, good vibes!
we just came to say high and finally stayed for a night as we were still talking after hours.
when walking in a tribe village, we could see that they're totally integrated with the locals, which says a lot on their mentality.
just go there, you won't be disappointed

Free primitive sites near a small Bayou creek feeding the lake. Small-boat ramp. 2 porta- potties (maintained). Several long-term camps setup but we took a large site further away toward the loop entrance. Big rig accessible, very wooded and quiet. Alligators, hoot owl and other will life. Weak but useable TV, no cell. No water, dump, electric, trash.

We were planning 1 night but stayed for 5!
There are 2 chalets & 4 camp pitches.
Each pitch has a shelter with electric point, potable water, kitchen sink & picnic table.
Communal ablutions spacious & clean.
Views of vineyard & mountains. Peaceful location.
Owners Gilmar & Tamara are great hosts, very friendly & helpful.

This is the only place (as of today) that you can take the COVID-19 test to travel out of Nicaragua.
It costs $150 and you can pay in dollars, local currency, or credit card.
The whole process was very straight forward and took 40min.
Test taken from 8-11AM and results gets ready at 4PM the same day.

Right before the entry to parking for the state beach are two sides of the road where you can park for several nights. Pretty level on both sides and big enough for large rigs. It’s pretty quiet other than a few cars going by to park.

Nice little campground. All loops except main are closed probably because of COVID. Pretty good sites. I’ll definitely come back.

We tried to contact these people. The only source we could find was to message them on Facebook. However, their Facebook page hadn't been added to in over two years. We messaged them but never heard back so we are guessing that this is no longer an option.

RV dealer and repair shop. Easy access, close to I10.
We stopped in because we were having a problem with our slide: the roller had broken off and the seal on the outside was coming off. No parts needed to be ordered and they were able to get us in right away and reinstalled the roller and reattached the seal within a couple of hours.

So pleased with the service we received here and we recommend them for traveling RVers.

Nice campsites with braai areas and sunshades. Quite nice facilities, especially for NWR. Really nice hideout. Could use some better lights in the night but still awesome to see the animals that close.
Electricity at sites.

4.5 stars!! (iOverlander app isn't letting me change it)

I came during winter season so electric sites were only $15. FREE firewood! Beautiful campground located on a lake. There's a 2.4 mile walking loop around the lake. This was my first Arkansas experience, and I was very happy. Nice, clean bathrooms with super hot water in the showers. Has coin operated laundry on site.

No alcohol allowed. 10-6 quiet hours. heavily patrolled by park security. I actually liked this, but I could see others finding it a nuisance. Everyone was super friendly!

Fine for the night, but nothing special unless you really need power. Definitely some long term residents. Park is in rough shape and lots of burrs for the dogs feet.

Next to California State Prison, a number of homeless encampments and has rats that have infested various sites. Careful who you park next to! I had to be towed out of the sand north of here along the river after running from rodents in the middle of the night. One BLM road near here was closed off by RV's and people who looked like they had been there for a while, and the place had trash as well as burned out trailers. Downriver out of town is better along Oxbow Road, but some sites still have the same problem with rodents and trash.

We enjoyed this community campsite. Simple, but nicely located. The access from the C103 is an impertinence. Elephants also migrate through the region.
