We have enjoyed stating at Chi-Chi Tree camp. A tranquil spot right at the top of the beautiful little town Clarens. The sites are not easy to find, it would be advisable to contact Lothar, the owner at 082-8210750.
The sites are secure and we have felt very safe. Lothar is very friendly and does give good advice what to do in the area. The camp is still under construction but Lothar will make every effort to keep his guests happy. The sites are rig friendly and do have electricity at the sites. The water quality is excellent. Many Chi-Chi trees around. We will return, -

We spent 2 nights with Diego (30k/night) and did the tour of his farm with him. Since another couple joined us, we only paid 140k (70k/person) for the tour. The way Diego runs the farm is super exciting, almost more exciting than the cocoa production ;) Diego and his wife make a lot of effort and are very nice. Toilets and showers are very clean!

Be careful, the access track is very difficult, reserved for motorcycles or small 4x4s with great experience! steep and very damaged path. at the end of the track, an antenna guarded by guards. you can sleep at the top, I gave them 20 Leones the next morning. Very nice guards, safe place.

Got to the small parking lot after dark and left just before sunrise. Not much besides a lot, but was perfect for the night.

Great hotel! super funky Frida decor which we love. there's a secure locked garage under the hotel for our motorcycles.
the room was 600 for two people, there are larger rooms for 700 but the 600 is perfect.

the shower is excellent and hot, WiFi is fast and rooms are clean.

the hotel also has a food truck a 10 second walk away, which does exceptionally well priced and tasty food.

it was cold weather when we arrived so they did room service! how nice is that! the chap running the place doesn't speak English, but he's super helpful and very quick to help with everything we need via WhatsApp and Google translate.

you can find this place on Google too. would recommend!

Basically a parking lot with full hookups, but if that’s what you need or are into, then it works. There is some green space within walking distance. I only stayed here because the camp grounds were full…

This place is huge, loud, with far too many people for us. We did not stay. Also, it seems to be a mecca for s x s people and there are roads all through the forest surrounding Happy Jacks where they ride. Very loud.

FREE. No hookups. 2 camp managers/hosts on site. Must check in with them if staying longer than one day. Short walk to gas station, 2 restaurants, post office, and gift shop. Perfect place to stay if you have AC haha it gets hot out here in the desert 🏜️
Also there are coyotes that stay around and a tiny airport for the advertising planes which can be loud when they fly over.

After reading the good reviews about the Playa, I decided to come here. By the cananas people tried waving us and trying to sell Cabanas. I told them I had an RTT and planned to camp out by the beach. They waved me by and told me to go to the south side. That is when I came here. I asked two cops sitting by cabanas if it was safe. No problems.
Beautiful and quite beach nio one was here. At subset two tops on motorbike came and said it was all good. Also, fave us their phone number if there were any problems please give them a call. Later at midnight, two cops stopped by to check on us. No problem.
There is no cost and a beautiful place to stay.
Nearby house has a Banos that you can use. I offered them 5000 Pesos. They gracefully accepted it.

Easy to miss headed south on highway 5. Roughly 30 minutes south of San Felipe. You’ll see the tire on top of the concrete slab and turn there. We were in a Tacoma and had no problem with the roads but be mindful if you have only 2WD or in a car not made to be off roading. Lots of spots to camp on the way in we got rather close to the beach and were able to walk over. Would recommend this spot the sunrise and sunset were insane! Only thing is to be wary of coyotes if you have a dog as we heard them all night.
