John W. Kyle State Park is a peaceful break from traveling on I-55. We pulled in around 19:30 and were met by the very helpful park hosts who led us to the spot we had picked out on the website before arriving; we stayed in number 87 with water, power, sewer, and full shade. The cost for a premium spot was $35. During our visit, the park was barely occupied and very comfortable, but I imagine it fills up during holidays and Ole Miss games. The lake didn't seem like a fun place to take a dip, and there are no swimming signs every couple hundred feet. But the dogs enjoyed a swim.

I read there are laundry facilities somewhere in the park but we didn't use them. The bathrooms are clean, and the showers are exactly what you'd expect from a state park. Only one of the showers (out of four in our area) was functional while we visited.

There's a complete lack of trash cans throughout the park, but there is a dumpster near the bathrooms.

We stayed one night in a 40-foot Greyhound conversion with two dogs. We had three bars with Mint Mobile at our campsite and three bars on our AT&T hotspot.

Great place with a nice view. Only one car passed by in the evening. As the other reviews said- there’s another spot higher up the road but it’s very sketchy to get there, we didn’t try with our camper truck.
Road up to this place is not so bad either- the first part is gravel but then it’s paved.
Had great cell service too.

Pull off on relatively flat clearing. Lots of trees for shade. If you walk up the hill you can see the snowcapped mountain, sunrise, and sunset. Great place to put a hammock. Behind one of the larger rocks to block some wind. There’s a mountain bike trail in that direction as well.

Bikers, runners, and off-roaders pass by but there aren’t a ton. Maybe 3 a day.

Lots of sites in this area. But this is my favorite. My car has AWD and it did just fine. On some of the other paths down these forest roads there could be super soft sand or paths where you would need 4WD and some more clearance.

An unpaved pullout close to the street. Less than one kilometer to the entrance of the bridge. Nearly leveled.
At night no traffic.
Three big rigs will fit in.

CLOSED. The lot is full of signs saying No Overnight Parking. I thought maybe you people were parking behind the Walmart, so I parked next to a semi on the otherside of the building. Nope. 45 minutes later I get a knock. The nice officer explained no overnight parking is allowed anywhere in Frisco.

There are several campgrounds within this park. Most have electric ($33/night), but there is one without (Lower Chalet - $20/night). I was lucky enough to get a prime spot in the Lakeside campground and because arrived without a reservation and space was available, I got a $5 discount so site was only $28/night with electricity. Gorgeous spot, super quiet with the odd boat going by. Free firewood, flush toilets and free showers. Cell service ok but not great here, but enough open sky to use my Starlink.

Incredible spot! I enjoyed the most wonderful sunset, and met a few locals. There’s a fenced, leash free dog park too, so my dog had a wonderful play with 3 other dogs while I enjoyed chatting with the locals and getting advice on some great hikes in the area.

We drove all the way to the end of the gravel road. Very nice and quiet spot. We only say some local fisherman and some dogs. No facilities.

Great place! We’re too long to fit in the RV spots so we had to park in regular spots which always concerns us but we’ve never gotten a knock or taken up too much space for other guests. Thank you Cracker Barrel for being kind to RVers!

Nice place, right on the water and next to a park, where you can find also a public toilet. Night was ok, but a bit noisy due to traffic on the road next to it.
We were woken up by a guard of the ferry company who informed us, that overnight stay / camping is not allowed and that we have to leave. The gentleman was very friendly and we did luckily not get any ticket.

We stayed here just one day. There are 40+ sites, all kind of on the small side, and only three were taken. The official website says the place gets light use. It actually looked like it was quite the destination many years ago, but not anymore. Price is $23 for one night, extra $7 for a second vehicle, which may count your tow vehicle. And the RV dump is $10. The boat launch is right there, the lake is a short walk thru the sage. Great views, awesome cell signal.

Yes it was by the river which was lovely. But parked under the bridge the traffic shakes the vehicle so sleep not great even with earplugs. The forest service road which parallels the river is blocked off now with large concrete blocks. One other camper van was there.

A nice flat site with a couple of fire rings on the left right before the parking lot for the trail head. Fit of van easily and imagine could fit a large rig if needed.

Quel bel endroit pour y passer la nuit. 4 places avec les 3 services et une nuit super tranquille. Les toilettes étaient barrées, sûrement trop tôt encore.

Je recommande ce beau parc pour un arrêté dodo en toute tranquillité.

Great campground… clean and quiet. No one here but two other people
The Arctic Circle isn’t what we expected. Thought about it being more tundra like. The Arctic Circle sign was in a big parking lot near the camp ground. The drive took six hours due to so much construction. And it was buggy. For me, I can say I was here. But we slept and left again. Worth it? Meh

Big place. Easy access directly to the road (not much traffic). Awesome view in the valley. We stayed alone with no one else there. Quiet and safe. Enjoy the view!
