Road is closed as of 06/11/24 seems like they're doing some construction work in the area and that might be why

Great spot. You definitely what to scope out a good spot with your tow if you have one. Couple of the entrances down to camping are are sandy and very soft so be sure to approach with caution. With that said there were plenty of big and small rigs the day we went. The views here are totally worth more then the 14 a night that the NPS charges for camping with no hookups.

This place is a real gem. We managed with our 24ft camper which is also 10.5 ft high. The branches across were not a problem. I wouldn't come here with small children as there are some really dangerous drops.

Nice spot! Was able to get back there in my FWD minivan. Saw a moose down by the creek in the morning!

Nice campsite - creek is really pretty and definitely cancelled out the highway noise at the spot that I was at. It's also $28 dollars to camp here now

Dormimos por 2 noites aqui, lugar tranquilo e seguro, mas um pouco barulhento. Tem 2 torneiras com água potável.

We slept for 2 nights here, quiet and safe place, but a little noisy. It has 2 taps with drinking water.

Turquie -- > Irak
We are travelling by hitchhiking.

We've been dropped by a car at the beginning of the border. We walked through the car line until the first checkpoint. They didn't let us continue by foot. We needed to be in a véhicule or a least a bicycle.
Some kind people were helping us to find someone who were waiting in the queue to take us in the car. All was full but a minibus ( Sirnak airport to Duhok ) took us for 200 lira each.

We didn't have any visa or e-visa before cross the border.
Once we arrive to the Iraqian side, they lent us their WiFi to apply by internet to the Kurdish e-visa. It was really tricky and not working.
So a kind woman said to go to the office close to the entrance, and they will give us the Kurdish visa for 75$ each, without any photo, question or information.

Manager from the bus came to speed up the process because they were waiting for us.
People was really kind and you find easy someone talking perfect English.

Total time to cross : 1 hour.

The bus drove us until Duhok.

Road didn't require air-down, several great camping spots, rock fire rings, right on the edge of the canyon. Spectacular!

as you go up the road there are numerous pull out areas. some nicer than others. was able to get one that had shade but there was tons of broken glass on the ground. tons. road is under construction so you will hear trucks in the morning. bumpy road. popular spot but lots of space between pullouts.

This spot has a place for the same group of maybe one or two vehicles. Plenty of space for tents and a fire ring. Tucked into the woods so felt private. Some road noise. 1 bar of Verizon but not great service. No facilities.

Nice quiet place in the middle of nature. It's next to an extremely calm road. We did not hear any cars pass. The entry road is a bit bumpy but doable with a VW Polo

You can drive down the road to a little beach with a waterfall. It is a beautiful place for a swim, but the waterfall might be too loud.

Really good and welcoming guest house! Owner speaks good English and helps you with whatever you ask. I had problems with my car and he came with me to the mechanic.

Good dinner and breakfast. Also the rooms are spacious. Paid 200 somoni per night. You can park your car or bike in the backyard. Would really recommend this place!

After driving in between the two signs, keep right. So don't go straight! Then you will reach the cave. You can see the paintings on the left wall when you arrive at the cave.
Also very beautiful views!

It opens from 8am to 2pm and again 4pm. Adults pay 6.000 CLP now. Only one pool was open. The temperature was ok but we couldn't stay longer than 1 hour. Swimming is more or less possible because of ropes over the pool. The showers are freezing cold. We wouldn't go there again.

Could have made it in here, but chose to hike down first, the potholes are significant for 2X and low clearance, presently. Beautiful place. Lots of level spots with water views. Like no TMobile. Just didn't want the white-knuckle, "try to make it in here" experience this time. 2016 Transit 350 extended, with extended rear carrier, it was hard to turn around back there.

as described, level and right on a really nice lake. but also right on a very active logging and atv road and you *will* be consistently dusted between 7a and 6p

Day pass is $20 for California residents. $10 for out of state. $20 is a bit steep for a shower.

The buildings on the Guatemala side are undergoing renovation so prepare for a little more chaos than usual, process seems unchanged from earlier reports.

Guatemala to Belize 17.05785, -89.15012

Earlier reports are mostly accurate. If you are going from Guatemala into Belize stay to the left...
There is another exit off to the right around the far side of a big warehouse building but that exit is only for Semi-trucks.

As you hang to the left exiting the Belize compound...
There will be a small "pillbox" sized building maybe 12' x 12' in the middle of the parking lot.
As you pass it look 90 degrees to your right. You will see a fenced in area off to the side with a cluster of small buildings in it. One of the buildings in the middle will have signage that says ICB (Insurance Corporation of Belize) the logo is in black & Red.

THAT is where I bought my (mandatory) vehicle insurance. The agent was very friendly and the process was easy... EXCEPT I didn't know where to go.

Came here to check it out but did not end up staying. We tried to call the store to ask about sleeping but nobody answered the phone on every try. There was a super dodgy car parked up, missing half the parts and running a generator, another meth lab looking rv so we decided to leave and parked up at holiday inn instead. There are “no overnight” signs posted, so I’m not sure if they’re enforced.

We camped there for a night on our way to Portland with our 30 feet class C. Perfect spot. Nice view and there is a fire pit. We can hear a little bit the freeway but it didn’t bother us.
