The worst experience in mechanics. They charged me 200 dollars and did absolutely nothing. They treated us very reluctantly, we asked them to let us know if we had to leave the van and the moment they closed they told us that we had to go and leave the motorhome, we had nowhere to go and after several discussions they left us in a very bad way stay We asked for the budget in the morning and in the afternoon when we were going to pay they wanted to charge us 80 thousand pesos more, a disaster. Don't come here!!

Gate was closed but we were able to open it, no “no trespassing” signs, only a “no cutting firewood” sign. We drove down the road for a while looking for trees to hammock in but found very few. Lots of cactus, lots of flies. Some of the best stars I’ve ever seen, clear view of the Milky Way. We even saw two cows in the morning.

Georgia to Turkey
Exiting Georgia was unfriendly but swiftly except that they scrutinised my german driving license for 5 minutes.
Entering Turkey we were the only private vehicle.
Stop at the first office/barrier. Get out and do immigration first (on your left, same as for passengers). Then go to the office on the right and do the temporary importation of the vehicle. You need passport, vehicle documentation, driving license and insurance certificate (“green card”). You will get a green border pass which you have to show to customs. You get no papers for the importation. Then drive straight ahead to customs. They’ll check the vehicle. Thereafter the procedure was a bit confusing. I was sent into the building where somebody wanted to check the passport again. Spoke only turkish. Thereafter another officer waved us through to the final barrier at the exit. Another passport check and we were in Turkey. Altogether it took us one hour.
Having a translator on your phone will help.

If you are shipping a vehicle from Europe then this is the best place to stay. Its 20/30 minutes walk or a straight bus ride to Customs in Susie Lake Drive to clear your vehicle. Then another straight bus ride to the port to collect it. Plenty of on-site parking to get organised. There is a large retail park close by with Home Depot, Costco, Wallmart, Atlantic Superstore, Canadian Tire etc. plus plenty of smaller shops and cafés. if you are here for a few days then it's close to a transit terminal where you can get to anywhere around Halifax. Staff helpful and friendly, highly recommended.

Large, quiet, remote campsite right next to Niagara Creek with a small but awesome swimming hole. Wooded but also open with nice views. Large rock fire pit. 3-4 flat spots for tents and room for at least three vehicles. A U.S. Forest Service truck drove by and waved shortly after I arrived (2pm), never saw or heard anyone else after that. There was a large saw hanging from a tree which I assume is provided by the Forest Service. About a mile long dirt/gravel road from the highway is very rough, 4x4 and high clearance likely needed; I did it in my 2002 Ford Escape in 4x4 mode. Turn off the highway at (38.3180770, -119.9289358) and use google maps to easily see where to turn on the road (it won't navigate the dirt roads). Accurate coords of actual campsite are (38.3269057, -119.9273613) (turn right at listed coords).

Rest area and boat launch. Also Picnic area with portapotty. People come to fish in the evening and morning. Minimal road noise and very quiet at night. Stayed in a 25 foot Class C. Lots of room for larger units.

Big and cheap supermarket, we even bought camping gas bottles here (for camping on Acatenango volcano). Good sales of everything.

Flat dirt parking lot at boat launch. Lots of space and an outhouse.
No signs about overnight parking. It’s right next to the highway, so you really notice the loud logging trucks.

Elma rest stop was closed, so this was a great alternative.

I only had one bar of service here.

Lovely place, reservoir is filled with water at the moment. Road in is good. Sites gravelly, but possible to find levelish spots suitable for tents.

My trusted mechanic from now on in Bishkek. Great professionals. They work on all types of large vehicles like vans, trucks, etc. We have a 1995 Iveco Daily 40/10 4x4. Very friendly and attentive.

Guyana -> Suriname

I slept at the ferry terminal w my hammock. There’s a covered seating area w bathrooms where you can camp. Actually they said it’s not allowed but they allowed me. No charge. Parked the moto right outside the seating area. They close the gates at night. It’s very secure and quiet. There’s also and open wifi but pretty slow.

The open the office for processing at 6:30am. Note that there is a time change in Suriname. It seems like they are operating on Guyana time at the ferry terminal.

1. First they will check your passport and yellow fever vaccine.
2. Then go to the police outpost and they will look at your vehicle papers.
3. Then drive through the gate, park moto to the side or w van park moto in line, and go in and pay for you and your moto fare for the ferry $8600 gyd cash. Get a receipt. They also give you a simple immigration paper to fill before paying for the ferry.
4. Get passport stamped. Then you are done. Wait for ferry to arrive from Suriname. Motorcycles go to the front of the line.

There is a snack shop at the terminal that sells chips and beverages, hot chickpeas, and pastry looking things. There’s also hot sauces and ice cream to buy as well as a duty free with all alcohol. Also a guy sells fresh fruit salad and lemon honey water.

There are money changers at the terminal giving a bad rate, maybe 30% less than the internet rate but apparently there’s no other place to change.

The ferry is supposed to arrive at 10am but depends on when it comes from Suriname.

Best to arrive early, I woke up here so had plenty of time but I had a friend who arrived at 9:30am and said it was cutting it close. He said arrive no later than 9am but of course earlier would be better.

Oasis in the desert! lovely family run campground 8 miles west of Wells. literally nothing around it, so get supplies elsewhere. The trees! huge and numerous. after 90+ degrees and blistering sun, this place is heaven. free wifi, showers, laundry and most sites have water, power and dump. We paid $38 plus tax. sites are tight but to us, it's a shaded oasis. Noise from freeway since it's right next to it. we had site 16, on the e d furthest from road.
