room is 40 sol, pretty loud we can hear the trucks passing by and noise from tvs and there is actually a hole over the door so it feels like everybody is in the same room. the toilet smells like heavy chemicals and toilet seat was full of drips, probably from the previous user... they dont have bed sheets, only a cover.. the whole room smells like a blend of perfumes from different cleaning product and is very heavy so i feel like my lungs are going to get trashed.. for 10 soles more there was this casa hotel wayra that seemed so much better i totally regret my choice coming here.

Still there, coming from Russia direction Mongolia. They registered our passport in a computer. No problems, just a bit of waiting.

Beautiful glen maybe 1/4 mile off of the highway. Room for maybe big rigs and no signs. There are a couple of fire pits and stuffs
signs of use. Traffic noise is minimal. Lots of mosquitoes.

Update of my stay on june 20. Be aware that there is poison ivy and hogweed. If you stay on the grass there should be no problem

Very basic gravel pull off with site numbers. Dry camping - no electric. Not sure why others mention electric hookups - Im not seeing any. $25/night for non-military or $20/night for military.

Great place on the lake. Took the 2nd bridge as advised, the first looked pretty scary. Fair bit of rubbish lying about along the shore but the area we parked up was clean. There was some firewood around.

Great scenic place to stay close to Valdez. We're in a 36' Class A and found a nice spot to back into early on the road. TONS of mosquitoes, but the view is worth it.

Great burgers and great beers. Grab a pint of the famous pliny the elder. Then ask if you can sleep overnight in the lot. They collect some of your info and good to go. Parked in my camper van.

This place is great to rest away from the road with the sound of the river. It's free, very clean with nice tables and sunshine on sunny days. Really accessible without a 4x4 except in case of rain

As described by others. Donna the owner was very friendly. The new shower and toilet block was just about to be opened at time of our visit; the originals were too few and too cramped. Excellent value and location for the Irish ferries to/from Dublin. £20 on per site.

What a great campsite with great hosts and staff. Each campsite overlooks the river where you can watch hippos pass by. You have a great braai area and kitchen. There is an electric fridge if you need it for each site. Ablutions are clean and neat, staff do a great job here. Deon is a great host, took us out fishing and exploring the bird life on the river and then cooked a great meal of mussels and calamari! Very peaceful place and well maintained. Can highly recommended this campsite!

we came here because the frame of our cabin (
expedition mobile Mercedes-Benz 917) was broken. We highly recommend this place. We were helped immediately by some really well trained mechanics. They did a great job at welding the frame. Some of the guys speak englisch very well and even a few words of german. Contact: [email protected], Tel: +998998801040 ask forJavohir

Russia to Mongolia
Russian side straightforward and easy but, if you have a lot of people before you, it can be time consuming. First car check and then passport control. Nothing to pay. Just wait in your car and follow the others when they move. For us it took 1 hours (mid-day time).
Mongolian side is not so clear. First you have to stop at a container where they register your car and give you a slip of paper. Then you go to pay the "disinfection" fee (there's no disinfection at all but also locals pay it) 2000 MNT cash or rubles. If you skip this you don't have a stamp required later. Then you drive to customs check (vehicle inspection and some little paperwork) and passport control (data in the system and stamp). Nothing to pay here either (Italian passport, 30 day visa free entry).
After that you will be stopped to buy insurance. We negotiated a bit and ended up paying around 18 USD for 30 days (2000 cc engine but he wrote 1000). You can also change money here or buy sim card but we didn't. And that's all, nobody asked for a road tax or similar. It took about 1 hour here too, so total crossing time 2 HS.

First he told us that for our van 2000 cc it was 2100 rubles (~ 23$, we didn't have MNT). We negotiated a bit and ended up paying ~ 18 USD for 30 days (he wrote 1000cc on the policy). You can also change money here or buy sim card but we didn't.

Long, dark tunnel with bad air and really no light. No potholes though. Not nice to drive but manageable if you go slow.

Nice, lonely place with a fantastic view on Iskander Kul. Accessible for big rigs and 2wd.
We spent 2 nights directly on the helipad and only had two cars passing.
