Very quiet place, nice walks and plenty of birds. Some locals during the day but only us at night (Friday and Saturday night!)

FYI Space Center closes at least for 2 weeks prior to a launch. Then they said they will reopen 2 days after the launch. If you are there for a launch you can also email them about getting on the list for the observation locations.

There are a bunch of restaurants here right along the water with a nice relaxing vibe if you want a spot to just chill and have a beverage for a moment. Everything was expensive but you can have a fresh juice for $4-5 euro. You can just park your moto in from or parking spot around the corner.

Best day to come here is sundaymorning. All women and man wear their folklore clothes and go to the mass in the church near the ruines. Great for pictures. In the Mundo Alpacashop is a watertap if you ask.

Super nice campsite with pit toilets and some tables. There are quite a few sites for campers of all sizes, strewn around and nicely spaced. The view of the lake and the mountains in the background is amazing, for example at sunset. (no camp spot right at the waterfront though, you'll have to walk ~50m) We stayed here one night and it was very calm, surprisingly few people for such a nice place. You can sometimes hear loud trucks passing by on the road but not the normal cars. The road down is somewhat bumpy but probably doable in normal 2WDs.

2 dump stations with non-threaded rinse and two completely separate, clearly labled potable water spigots. No fee, tollbooth, ranger station, or sign. Accessible 24/ 7 / 365.
Note that to get there, you'll drive under a river with a 13' 6" tunnel, and Verizon cell data thinks the dump station is in Canada (that is, if you intend to stay at the park, you'll be using ROAMING data).

Great stop to enjoy good weather, we are digital nomads and we managed to set up our workspace, good internet just closed to the main house, at the campsite not really good, but owners are working on improving that and make the space more friendly to work from there with better wifi connection, plugs and more tables in the roofed area. Still a great place to enjoy a relax time in nature, focus on work and enough space for our dog to be free (be aware that there are chickens and other animals living free, so depending on you dog could be better to be on leash).

we also suggest to arrive with enough food for your stay, as the closest grocery is 5km up and downhill, not walkable.

Update: now is 20,000 per person, still a really good option to relax and enjoy a beach day. Internet connection is amazing.

The only thing for us is that they are not really pet friendly, you can be in the beach with you dog but not in the inside area, that is more fresh and covered. They also told us they have some cabañas in the same town where the dogs are welcome and price is the same, we suggest to get here first and talk with the owners. The other place we didn't visit but is in Google also as Juanmar

Now $12 in loonies and toonies only. Coin counter seems like it doesn't work, but eventually it does. As others said, you can get change inside the visitor centre.

We arrived on a Saturday. It was full of locals when we arrived, however everyone did leave right before sunset. We asked if we could stay at the little green tienda and they were happy to have us and had us park on the nice open green field on the left side of the tienda. However it seemed we could have camped anywhere. There was a man sheering sheep when we arrived. That was fun! We camped next to their house and it wasn’t super quiet with all the animals. Pigs, chickens, roosters. Rooster crowed right by our camper starting at 5:30am. Maybe we should have camped on the other side of the lake. But other than that it was a nice quiet peaceful night. Still free! They sell drinks, snacks, and ice cream at the tienda.

3 fast flowing taps in this cemetary. Park next to the glass container, the taps are on the inside of this same wall, just throw a hose over. There are similar taps in other cemetaries in town too.

The small Asian village of Cacao has a nice vibe on Sunday mornings. we especially recommend the butterfly and insect museum if you understand French. For 5 euros per person you get a vivid and super interesting explanation about all sorts of insects and butterflies living in Guyana. Guided tour at 9am, 11am, 14pm (during holiday season also at 12am and 15pm) and only on Sunday.

This was a Beer Garden 150 years ago and now a fine parking and overnight camping for any size vehicle.
Will easily fit 6 RV’s or tents, good cellphone signal.
Picnic tables and fire rings.
Only 15 min walk to historic Lake City.
Much better place then the opposite ATV Staging area.

Parking next to the wooden church. Great for a night, and to visit the Merry Cemetery 150m away. The small village has a few restaurants, some accommodation, and a museum.

They normally charge 10Lei (2€) during the day to park in this lot, but we arrived around 8pm and the owner at the souvenir shop said we could stay/sleep for free.

Good wifi, water in front of church, and we used a restaurant toilet after dinner there.

1.3km north is the Peri Monastery which is one of the tallest wooden structures in Europe.

Definitely worth a stop over.

Directly off the West Side Road FR 90. Stop here for a great overview or to camp. There is a parking space you can use for bigger rigs or turn left and find a small spot for a tent or van camping.
Cell signal is excellent here. It always is a little windy here. Because you are very close to the road you might have some traffic but it's not too bad.
Even if you don't want to spend the night, visit this place for a Picknick or to enjoy the scenery.

Noticed that this small campground wasn’t listed on iOverlander as we drove by. Self check in. Open sky’s for Starlink. Very close to Custer, Bonanza City & the enormous dredge. Looked like at least 6 spots. See if they have a website. Or just stop in.
