A lovely way by a old dry river canyon crossing the different forms and colors layers (vertical walls and eroded layers) of the Khuni Khana. Awesome driving. It's around 5km. At 43.248985, 101.740143 you can take on right to 14km eroded valley between iressive cliffs. Enjoy it. Almost nobody in the area, 3 people seen in 2 days.

Drive towards the monastery. On your right is a sandy track leading you along the lakeshore for a couple of hundred meters. End at a broad grassy area with beautiful view of the lake and the monastery. Visible but no houses close by. Easy to get in the water for a swim. A little unlevel.

Camping ground at lake, we paid 400 rubles for a car with roof tent and two people. No facilities except for two overfloating Dixie toilets that we did not dare to use. Visitors seem to use the forrest instead. There was a lot of poop and paper lying around there. Lot's of rubbish on the camp ground too. Visitors played loud music. There were signs that suggested that swimming in the lake is not allowed.

We wouldn't go again. Though it seemed like there is a second camp ground on the other side of the lake (it can be accessed on the Eastern side of the lake). It might be nicer there.

The gate is closed and there is no bell so you have to make some noise toll someone opens the gate.

Parking lot of a building for evenement in a small town near the river. Nice people around, they came to say hello. Not a lot of noise. Really better than a rest area. No service.

Filled our 20 pound American tank no problem. Expensive though - $24 to fill it (more than all other countries we’ve visited).

Amazing hostel + camp place! Big pool and sweet owners. Very funny and kind people.
In low season we could camp (sleep in bus using their facilities) for 100 pp, but they offered us a room for the same price as there was no one else at this time.:) super nice

Large grassy field on the river, separated from the road by hundreds of big yellow flowers (this time of year at least). You can go down towards the river if you want.
Visible from the road but at quite a distance. Pretty decent sunrise over the river if you rise early.
There’s a side track looping from and back to the main road. Enter from either side. You’ll see the field on the river behind the flowers.

There are about 4-5 sweet spots right along the east fork of the hood river plus another 2 that are off the river. The spots right on the water with nice fire pits and level ground. Easily accessible with our camper van. There are some areas with soft sand but if you stay off of it you shouldn’t have any problems.

Very nice backpackers with an affordable camping option (vehicle camping is just in the car park but there is a secure gate). Dorms 160pp, camping 80pp. Kitchen, strong hot showers, free WiFi, very nice lounge and dining area with fire in the winter evenings, cute garden with seats and braai/fire, and a bar to buy drinks. Very welcoming staff.

A three star camping 6 Km from Kranjska Gora. It is all you can expect from a camping. It is clean and quiet and the view is magnificent. There is also a climbing wall, a store and a play ground for kids. There are a lot of bike routes and hiking routes here.
PS 25% off for motorcyclists.

Fantastic Chevy garage! Raphael still works here and speaks English. We brought our Silverado 2509 duramax diesel here and got new shocks, oil change, oil filter and fuel filter (we brought this from home) changed here. The work took half a day which we had to split into two days because they close for their siesta mid day. Employees were great! Recommended if you have a Chevy.

Mario (+264 81 146055, Deutsch, Afrikaans, English) and his team saved our trip!
1800 km and 10 days away from Capetown and our flight back home the clutch of my BMW was broken. Mario fetched me out of the desert and brought me back to Swakopmund. The Garage is Yamaha but they do all makes. Also very good range of tires and oils (... yes, even real motorbike oil...).
Within two days of perfect support we even found a used clutch in Swakopmund so I had not to wait for the spare parts!
We came stranded and we left as friends!

They stopped us here to register our title and check our passports. The police guy jay stopped us was trying to emphasis that our road lights were not on, but they were on. Because we have a truck our lights are positioned on the bumper, so he thought we had our fog lights on not the road lights on. We had to explain that in Europe is works like this. He added that we need to comply with Argentinian law, but soon passed as my husband responded very confident we are compliant.

Well allot has changed in a year!!!
We were travelling 2 up on our motorbike and at least there was good parking for the bike. The price is now 17pp usd for a doube bed and private bath......the room was not big enough to swing a cat.....maybe a guinea pig. The shower was only luke warm and there was mould and old shampoo wrappers in it......the bed was super comfy with good sheets. It was a bit noiesy and staff were friendly. Price included breakfast which consisted of the worst coffee we have ever had, a single bread roll with butter and spread. Yes it is right in centro which could be a plus......overall not our best hotel experience

This hotel was the only one opened on July. Nice apartments with private kitchen and bathroom. A/C with heater. Could take our bicycles inside. Paid 800 pesos but not sure about high season price. Must be beautiful in summer here.
