Stopped but didn't end up staying as we needed Wi-Fi to make some calls back home and they didn't have any. It was a huge spot... if you eat $10 worth of food or beer you can stay for free but the restaurant was really pricey. Beer at the cervezaria was really good though.

Stayed here for one night. Huge spot with tons of space for bigger rigs too. Super friendly as well. Unique spot in the big city, would recommend it.

Apparently no 21,000 RWF rooms available so we were offered a larger option at 38,000 for two adults B&B.
Room simple and clean although not the most comfy bed I’ve slept in, and the mosquito net had holes.
Breakfast good and nice hot showers.

There are other guesthouses that look nice in Butare, so with hindsight I think we agreed to this room too quickly. It’s expensive for what it is and we probably could have got cheaper elsewhere.

Arrived late afternoon. Very remote, but sheltered from the high winds. We were here during rainy season. Very cold at night for a roof top tent but we huddled tight together. Take your winter blankets or dress in many layers. In the morning the crater lake was stunning. The clouds moved in 30nins after we arrived but the morning views from Irazu were worth the cold night.

We drove in 10 hours from Marble Community Campsite to Epupa Falls. We took the south route from Otjitanda - Okangwati because we heard a lot of bad stories about the road. This part took us 2:45 minutes over sandy and light gravel routes.

About the campsite it feels like we are in paradise. Beautiful campspot just a few meters from the river under a lot of palmtrees. No electricity, water and braaifacilities on campspot.

Abulution blocks are basic but clean. The restaurant area and bar area is very nice and cosy. The wifi is very bad.
We would stay 3 nights but we left on the second day because i had to work / need wifi.

If you are going to Ruakana (further to The east side), then you can drive the D road along the river.
The coverment made the road more accecible. Still the road is corregated but good. You can drive it with a normal car now. You can drive 20-60 km per hour. The worth part is the last to Ruakana.

Save travels and enjoy the beautiful view!

For those who want to do the Salkantay Trek individually without an agency/ group, here you get the collectivo to Mollepata, the starting point of the trail. 12 soles per person. They will ask for 20, then 15 but the locals pay 12; just tell them about the local price. They depart when they are full.

ideal for cyclists :
We stayed 2 nights. The place is calm. In the evening the camels pass by and come to eat the leaves of trees. We asked for water at roadside restaurants.
there is sand.

no water in the rivers around the mini gobi. We took some water in this cistern. Be careful, it's not sure she's always full.

A good place to spend a night away from eyesight for free. Potable water available on the small service city building. Tap on outside. a ball diamond tucked away. Stay clear from the old folks home and prying eyes :)
