supprisingly warm at night for the altitude, 250pp per night. Good warm shower and new baños building. Good shelter with cooking facilities. Many electric plugs at the campsite.
Wind shelter from fences at campsite.
Mini mercado at 100m. Fresh bread from about 11 in morning, not before!
Parilla Nito is open for lunch and dinner and excellent.

Perfect place to stay a little bit outside of Baños. Huge property, really relax. The owners are nice. The only thing is that the kitchen would need some love (no fridge, old stuff). Otherwise, amazing spot!

This place will definitely cheat you! They say they’re out of anything but premium, their conversion rate is way off, and the meters are apparently wrong- the same amount of gas at another station cost us exactly HALF of what it cost here.

Not super sure about the name but the restaurant is great. You enter in the little side street through a little entrance than you’re getting to the tables. Local food, local prices, super delicious.

Wild camping south of town with partial view of Guanajuato and lake. Outside of small village of Calderones. Trail starts outside of town and branch I took goes past the spur to the cell towers. A bit of off camber about 300M before this site but fine in the dry. 90% sure there is another way out of here but have not explored. Trail is easy but bumpy. Good cell service. There are many trails and many potential campsites in the area.

The track I used to find this area is called Rodeo Calderones available by registering for free on wikiloc FYI. If I remember I will add a location at the trail start and end of Google map coverage for easy navigation. So look for an additional location added for that.

Dead quiet at night. Only saw one person hiking with there dogs in 24hrs in a Thursday. Probably more crowded on weekends.

Not sure about the SOAT, but can confirm the bad money changing rates here. Wanted to give me $13 in COP for $20 USD.

Big rig friendly camp spot with a ton space. If you’re in a small vehicle you will not be visible. We made a fire ring and enjoyed the clear night sky. Quiet, not much traffic at night and felt safe. The 106 is a bumpy gravel road. You are under power lines but we did not hear any buzzing.

Looked at the car right away. 10$ to patch our right front breakpad. Flaco was helpful. We definitely recommend for problems that don’t required special pieces.

General parking $7
RV Parking $28

We came here last night with a 28´ Class C, but did not stay as Parking is until 6:00 PM.
One small class B 18’ did stay, as we came back this morning to spend the day at the beach and that RV is still here, so I guess it is up to you if you stay or not. Parking was empty last night except for the Class B, and this morning 8:30 about 20 cars, so not busy. During summer must be very busy here.

$20 USD for a night with full hook ups. The showers are not the prettiest or the cleanest, but they are hot, and the water pressure is fabulous. The WiFi is non-existent, even in the office/restaurant. The food is a bit spendy and OKAY, but the margaritas and micheladas are wonderful!

Camping with:
- shelter from the wind
- hot showers
- fire sectors
- bathroom for disabled
- spacious parking and football court!
- small space can be let by owners to warm up food as well

Very friendly owners Myriam and her husband, and visiting neighbours!

No WiFi yet but should be coming by mid-2019.

Highly recommend this nice break, 44km away from Coyhaique, after a possibly tough day with much headwind, in bicycle (coming from Coyhaique), on the Carretera Austral (7).
About 30km away from Villa Mañihuales.

Full service and super professional tire/oil/battery shop. When we couldn’t find the tires we wanted in the correct size in Peru or Ecuador, we ordered them from neumarket.com at a good price with free delivery and installation at this shop and they were waiting for us when we crossed the border. They also have tires in stock and can order, but we went through neumarket because of a promotional price.

Wifi, coffee, and tire swings (!) in the waiting area. Next door to the Supermercado Éxito where you can buy SOAT and snacks.

Their garage doors fit up to 3m (and a few cm more). We’re 3.03m and were ok.

Believe this is the Shell with a large courtyard at the back. Lots of trucks parked, but a very quiet night. Toilet and hot/warm shower facilities available. After fuelling up, we didn’t have to pay for their use. A little grubby but clean enough! Hot and cold water available. Staff and their pet (plumpish) dog friendly. Felt safe. Good for those travelling in vans etc.
