Rough road, took me 7 hours to cycle from the gate to the Campground, heavy rains don’t make it easier, the road is bad but totally doable with a 4x4. The views are stunning, lots of wildlife up on the plateau, haven‘t seen any elefants on the way up, just their leftovers. Camp is really nice, well maintained, nice hot showers, if you have a selfstanding tent you can pitch it underneeth a roof (3 of them available), they provide wood for fire and it is just really relaxed up here. I was by myself, and apperently not many people come up here during rainyseason, nevertheless, it is beautifully green! give it a try :-)

Very simple camping right at the beach. 80 pesos a night for a van is a very reasonable price... The commercial beach in Mahahual is crowded, so your private little beach at the camping is exceptional + you can wake up with the most stunning sunrises! Yes -> the seaweed is not so nice -> part of our changing Mother earth -> you don’t like iT? Skip the whole Yucatan Peninsula -> just don’t come here ;-) Make sure to book a snorkling trip to see turtles and so on -> Mahahual is the best place to do iT!!!! 300 pesos and you’re good to go and explore a bit of the underwater world!

There is only one parking space and it will probably be full if you don't have reservations. They did not seem amenable to letting us just pay for use of facilities without booking a room, but a double room is only 350. We got lucky and found a street parking space, but we have a small van. We paid 100 each to use the bath, kitchen, and Wi-Fi at friendly Hostal Cielito de Maria across the street.

Very unwelcoming. To sleep in your own car they want you to pay 1300 roepies. No exceptions, no discussions.
We stayed at the public parking (250 meters earlier) for 250 roepies.

It is no longer a RV parking, very bad staff attention, there is no service for RV, you can only park for $ 300 pesos a night. It's not advisable.

We stayed here after crossing the border from Thailand. Nothing special about this place. If you park behind the bushes you'll be half hidden from the road. Border guards came 1 minute to see what we were doing and let us sleep without any problem.
A bit noisy from the road but the traffic didn't restart before 7:30am.

Holiday park with many cabins and a few camping sites. Powered sites only, which makes it expensive. Toilets and showers old but clean, very well equipped kitchen, washing machines. Next to Eureka swimming pool complex. We got a small, but shady site. AUD 37 (2 adults, campervan).

Lodge on way to Chimoio. William the owner let me camp in the garden under new shady trees and use ablutions in one of the cottages for 600M for a night. Ablutions a bit dated but clean and hot water for shower and dishwashing. Near to road so some early morning truck noise but not too bad. Bar and restaurant and pool on site. Cottages look clean and there is a childrens play area and pool table too. safe and secure. Good for a stop over if you don't want to stay in town.

We dropped off our laundry around 11:00 in the morning assuming it wouldn’t be ready until the next day but he said it would be ready by 5:00 the same day. Clean and folded nicely. Only 100 pesos for a good size basket load.

Saw police and asked if o.k. to park there for a week or so and they said yes. We parked across from the rose gardens on the south side of the street so our table window looked across the street at the rose gardens (roses were still there in early February) and could enjoy the green lawn right outside our door. From about 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. street is parked full. Find any place in the area that you can park and then move over there early or late in the day. 2 km to Plaza de Mayo. No subway stops on that side of the river so about a 2 km walk to nearest subway. Fun to watch joggers and exercisers every weekday evenings.
