This is just NOT worth the 4000 pesos per person! It a overrated place. If you are coming from Patagonia, you've seen places waay more beautiful than this. If you are heading to MNPatagonia, don't waste your time here, there are much better waterfalls down the road and even for free.

The perfect place to stay and chill in Varkala. Incredible staff, young and dynamic. Dorm for 400 Rps. The hostel is located less than five minutes walk from the beach. You can also order really good food (nice breakfast). Bbq is often organised. It's out of the main road so really quiet. Hammock, ping pong table, badminton net, rooftop also available. Enough place to park, from motorbike to truck (if the gate is not too narrow). Pitch a tent is also possible. Definitely worth the stay.

Several informal gravel roads lead to places to park and camp here. Simply turn right off the main road onto gravel, less then a mile past the ski hill parking lot. I was able to enter and exit with low clearance 2 wheel drive, but it could be tricky, especially with rain. Great views to the valley below and very nice sunsets.

Left Bolivia through this aduana. They did not give a receipt for exit, i had a bad feeling that the paperwork would not get processed at the time. 3 months later i am at the aduana in la Quiaca being told, surprise surprise, that they did not properly process the exit. I got the feeling the woman in the aduana had seen this before... After a 2 hour wait they did find the exit document and i could come back in.

We stood one night, Thursday on Friday. Because it's directly at a road it was very loud (traffic) till 12 p.m. and from 06 a.m. About ten dogs, wild and in the houses around barked several times at night till half an hour.
Definitely no place for the night.
Better 500 meter further cross the bridge to Quilaco. After the bridge 100 meter a big parking lot.
Daytime a lot of cars. But if you are NOT a very good swimmer, don't go into the river. life dangerous! !

One of the very best. Not really a hostel, but more like a bed & breakfast. Beautiful interior.

Hostel is above the convenience store. Entrance is up the stairs--ring the bell on the door frame and the manager Noemi (lives downstairs) will come up to meet you.

Amazing owner Ricardo, so helpful when I broke my leg and needed to get a notarized poder. He drove me around for literally 3 hours gathering all the information and even refusing to be reimbursed for the parking ticket he got while helping me.

Ricardo goes out of his way to help all his guests, offering rides for free and providing dinner to those lucky enough to be there when he stops by with food (he lives next door). He's also a handy guy with a full set of tools and helped my friend with some precision drilling for free.

Safe, enclosed parking for 1 and perhaps 2+ motorcycles. Street parking is likely very safe as well.

Excellent free breakfast buffet.

Planned to stay 2 nights and stayed 6.

Nice camping at the sandy beach of Los Frailes along East Cape Road, which is sandy and washboardy, but fine for all kind of RV if you drive slow. There are a lot of campers but it´s a lot of space so you will be private. Camping is possible on the beach side of East Cape Road. It is a bit less windy than Los Arbolitos to the north. Access is ok for 2 WD.

Very nice hotel with rain shower with hot water! Safe parking available on big grass court. We paid 1300rupees for a double room incl breakfast (booked the room online as this was much cheaper than booking a room at the hotel). Maybe if you ask it is even allowed to camp on the grass court. Very friendly staff!

We arrived here in the afternoon but within five minutes the police came and told us it is not a safe place for camping as there as a lot of drunk people during the night. We decided to go to the nearby Royal inn hotel (also on IOverlander).

Great place for an inexpensive breakfast. Only open mornings starting at 7:00. Very clean. Super friendly. Many repeat customers including a few Gringos. Dora speaks good English - and, one assumes, excellent Spanish.

You arrive here by canoe coming from Matoko. There is a nice schoolyard where you can put up your tent. There are also some basic rooms available. I didn't have to pay anything.

Very quiet after 11pm with only occasional car on bridge. Unfortunately I got woken up by two police officers at 4 am and talked too. They were both very nice but they did want to warn me that the area is not the safest and they do get called here sometimes. They also told me that I am not supposed to stay here but were ok with me staying till the morning. No doubt this will become a more patrolled area if more people stay overnight and will eventually be prohibited. Stay at your own risk.
