Very nice place. We drove in on a sunny Sunday, there was a lot of families, some stayed in the evening. We came back on a Monday, and we had the river and all the place for ourselves. You can be hidden from road but there is almost no car passing by... we spent 2 very quiet nights. Very good option, 10mn from Coyahuique center by car.

Recommended mechanic. Cesar is a really kind guy. He speaks perfect english. We gave him notice of our arrival some days in advance and even though he is really busy, he made time for our truck, while we only had a few days for him to work on it. If you have time he would for sure be able to help yo find parts for your truck. Cesar cannot help you prep your vehicle for shipment, but he will probably allow you to park jn his workshop to work on your car yourself, also he is open to help you with any other contacts or materials you might need. We could sleep in our car in the workshop. Really convenient.

we went around town to ask at different schools and this was the best offer we could get. 650 Q per person for one week with 20 hours. one student per teacher. 4 hours per day, from 9 am to 1 pm. additionally there are free evening activities twice a week which you can attend if you like. free coffee and water.
quality of the teachers was good. all of them went to university and speak English. as in every school everywhere, you can get better or worse ones.
big plus: after lessons, you can hang out in the nice garden and use their good WIFI

As a cyclist, I thought there would be nothing on this section, but there's actually a little place to buy some cold drinks.

Before bogota coming from San Agustin , it is a better option than Tercel 15km south. Higher so cooler and a breeze, and no flies eating you. You have a big parking lot , flat, next to the petrol station but belonging to the hotel on the opposite side of the road. We were charged 5000 COP for the vehicle to stay for the night. You are next to the highway so yes it is a bit noisy ... just a safe place to overnight enroute !

Nice place. The road is a bit narrow with overgrowth so I would not recommend anything wider then a standard van. We made it in with a Sprinter, but was pretty tight at times. AT&T came and went.

Did not sleep here, only stopped for lunch, but it looks quiet. It is very exposed but very few people passed by and among those, a police car, so I assume it is safe.

Maps.ME will want to make you turn left at the very end, but keep going forward and that road, which is not on the map, will lead to this spot down a cliff. Not very scenic but very quiet other than the occasional cow mooing.

Turn here left to the big transmitter. Drive through and then around 200-300 m, find your perfect spot with beaitiful view. In the morning we were just upon clouds. Magic! And not a single person. And the road here from Chimala village is also picturesque. We stayed night and all next day.
H+ Tigo service.

Easy accessible from the main road, just follow the gravel track which goes to the (dry) river. From there you can follow the tracks which go in the riverbed and through the mountains. there are many spots to camp and even firewood. not visible from the road, we saw nobody but maybe some sheperds go there as well.

Here you can park and take the boat to cross to the walking path (1 rial per person return). You walk through the wadi until the big pools start. From here you walk and swim through the pools until you reach the cave and the waterfall. We enjoyed it a lot. Shoes to wade through the rocky water would be nice. And a waterproof bag if you bring equipment. No facilities after the parking lot.

As our Iveco Daily needed a bit of maintenance and new front shoes we contacted Luis. He was not in town but arranged things for us to come and use his place. Luis‘s father opened the door for us and readily called Raul the mechanic who came over as fast as he could. Right away Raul guided us to a gomeria and in no time our truck had a new footwear. Back at the shop Raul , a very efficient worker, did the service . He invited us to stay overnight in the garage. A very safe place right in the middle of a big city! A bit sorry not to get a chance to meet Luis, we left the day after. And...a few days later, surprise ! As we were spending time in San Pedro de Atacama we met Luis! He recognized our truck from the photo and stopped by on his way home. A wonderful , cheerful, helpful person.
Overlanders, go to Luis. You’ll get the best service and last but not least Luis speaks well English.

Place to camp in a village. It‘s not very pretty as it is located IN the village. There are some grass spots where you can park or pop your tent. There is the local bus terminal, too, which is surrounded by a fence. We asked the police (they were walking around) if we can camp there and they even offered us to drive our car in fenced area and pop our tents there. A lot of people in the morning and a lot of mini busses in the fenced area. If you would like to sleep longer you might want to stay outside. Nice people everywhere.

Beautiful place!! We came here in the afternoon and spent a nice time on this lake. The water level was too high to get with the campervan down to the beach, but the grassy place on top was nice as well! The night was quiet. In the morning the fishermen came with their boats.
