small parking. next to bisti creek.

note: the bridge right north to the parking seems very weak and may give way any time.

the road from the south is better.

Stayed at the small, free parking lot at the end of Forsyth Park across from the health food store. No signs limiting overnight parking, no time limits. Stayed 2 nights without a problem. Some local traffic, gets busy with parking cars about 6a with joggers. Great spot to enjoy relaxing park and walking Savannah.

Wow! Honestly, this is so worth the visit, the owners are incredibly friendly. They have one cabin right next to the first two waterfalls which you can stay in, there is electricity but the windows aren't covered in any way so I'd recommend pitching a tent inside or the mozies will feast on you. The walk to see all 7 waterfalls is really enjoyable, 1-5 are very easy then to get to 6+7 it's abit of a jungle scramble. You can swim in most of the pools although one is too dangerous. Cannot recommend this highly enough, a truly great experience.
We camped in the car park which was no problem, there are toilets nearby and the owners brought us some tasty prawn rice in the evening! $10 for camping 2 people, entrance to the falls and parking while we walked.

Beautiful beach! Clean and safe beach and parking area. Friendly staff at kiosk on the way in. Very clean modern bathrooms with outdoor showers. Myself and two others small rig campers were here last night. No one bothered us. Road is very easy access. Pets not allowed on beach but okay in parking area. Hillsides provide good shielding from wind and no bugs.

15 rooms in bungalows, run by two Portuguese men, about 1km away from the beach. I paid 12.000CFA for the room (although the first price I heard was 15.000CFA), breakfast included. It's possibly the only source of lunch & dinner in the village. Lunch was 5.000CFA, dinner (soup, they will refill your bowl) was 1.000CFA. Electricity from the generator morning, lunchtime and evening until midnight.

Gerardo is the local phys-Ed school teacher and fixes bikes as a side-job. He lives in the house in the backyard of Niponino café and his workshop there. He’s very friendly and will help you with flats, broken spokes, tires and any general repairs. There is no bike store in town, but Gerardo has quite a lot of stuff available. Alternatively, you can have parts sent to you from the bike store in El Calafate.

No issues today... drove from Ocosingo to Palenque without any trouble. What a beautiful part of the world!
A few topes and the road is rough in spots but not as bad as some overlanders would have you believe!

We got the fan of our Fiat Ducato repaired at Roberto‘s place. We can confirm all comments below. Don‘t expect „local prices“, expect around PYG 100‘000 per working hour + price of any spare parts.

Sergio is super helpful! Even if he cannot solve your problem he will offer help and guidance. We felt we could easily trust him and his staff. fixed a few minor leaks and asked for a very fair price.
Definitely recommended!!

Small garage run by a really friendly guy named Ivan. He only speaks Spanish.

He drove out to the YPF on ruta 8 to check out our truck which was acting up, and then also did an oil change for us - 500 pesos total.

Quiet rest spot among cacti and rocks. You don't need 4x4 to get here. There is also a rock with a large chunk missing which is good for a fire, retaining heat or cooking. Stayed in the area few times. Safe, quiet and few people can see you from the highway. Highly recommended if you are tired and need to pull off.

2 minutes off the highway. There is some washboard road but you do not need 4x4 to get there. There is a sign at the beginning for "geoturismo la bocana". 500 ft south of mile marker 171 on west side of the highway. Not sure about the one on the east side of the highway. Good pull off stop where you won't be seen. Can fit about one car and tent in the clearing.

The road from Axum to Gonder is very isolated, probably you will be the only traveler on it. It climbs a lot of beautiful mountains. There is no one straight. It's all perfect pavement road, except 40kms between Debark and Zarema, where it's gravel and very narrow. I suggest don't do it during raining season: some rocks can fall on the road and block you. Enjoy it!

Ps only gas station is in Debark, but gas not guarantee anyway

Road very narrow 13.15788, 37.89813

great place, they now have a single shower and bathroom, still working round about so a bit of a building site. Also water/power/dump. Got involved with a couple we met previously in Baja & painted the bakery among other things. They have about 70 kids at the moment & appear very committed & worth helping.
please remember when you come here that the home is funded by donation not by the government, they have to bring the water you use by truck, electricity has to be paid for, trash has to be removed, all this costs!
