Lots of decent sized rocks scattered about, pretty decent views, free, honestly it's a pretty nice spot to car camp. You could have thrown up a tent where I was. You're pretty close to town here and have pretty good att service. Would stop here again.

I needed new shock breakers and to have my EGR cleaned. The guys were very helpful and friendly and did a good job! Did not speak English but worked fine with translate and YouTube.

Okay for one night. Quite hidden from the road but house close by and in sight of houses on the other side of the river. Insane amount of trash.

One of the most beautiful wild camping spots!!
We drove up the D707 for a while and saw this big field on the right, not locked up by a fence.
We settled near the foot of a mountain surrounded only by stunning fields and mountains.
We could also see the sunset very well and no car passed until 11 AM the next morning.

But you should be prepared for rather strong winds during the night.

For us it was sooo worth it, I think it can hardly get better than this!! :)

We drove up D707 to get to Sossusvlei not knowing that the views we got to enjoy only by driving on D707 would be the biggest highlight.

The whole way we were passing mountains and dunes and were experiencing the width of nature, while hardly meeting any other car.

Still exist, very nice place. For the approach 4x4 is a very good idea.!
Only one man is living there in winter. Very friendly guy, we had dinner together.
Be aware of the sand. Next morning we stood inside a new dune.

Very friendly border! We had to pay:

- 485 Kwacha Carbon Tax (for private vehicle/ Toyota LandCruiser)
- 305 Kwacha Third Party Insurance (they started saying that they only sold insurance for 3 months (522 Kwacha) and they don't sell comesa. But when we told them that we would go into town to buy comesa, it was possible to pay for 1 month for 305 Kwacha...)
- 55 Kwacha Council Levy (could only be paid online, but because we didn't have an active Zambian SIM-card, the guy paid for us and gave us the papers.
- 20 US Dollar Road Tax.

Don't forget to get your carnet stamped at Interpol, after it is stamped by customs. It is located at the entry side of the building. Interpol just put another stamp on the rear of the top strip of your carnet (don't know why...), but charges nothing.

There is also an official bank where dollars and other currencies can be exchanged. The money exchangers are a bit hectic and you get a slightly better rate at the bank in town (we couldn't find the bank at the border, but there is supposed to be one...).

Nobody checked the car. The total crossing nam --> zam took us 2 hours.

Water Fountain in the center of the city where also the locals get their water from.
Drinkable quality. You can park directly in front.
On the other side of the street there’s also a guy selling propane.

Safe and calm place to stay the night. Many places do not accept RV, but it's possible to stay the night at some streets.

Such a nice spot with view of the lake and mountains. It started raining early in the morning though so we had to leave early. But the evening was out of this world.

Amazing place to spend a few nights! Maybe a few locals in the day but where we camped at the very bottom of the road we saw no one. We stayed for two days and had the beach all to ourself!

However the road down is very steep but locals come in normal cars. We had no issues. It was extremely hot though and even at nights we had no breeze to cool us but this might not be all the time as it’s open to the sea.

The views are incredible. Such a shame about the trash left there. We carried out two big bags full and still there was a lot 😅

Enjoy it and keep it clean! It doesn’t get better than this 👌

I do agree with everything said. In addition, this was the stop we were waiting for since a very long time. We drove the panamericana and we made some bumps and scratches on our van. Before shipping it back we wanted to have it repaired and we heard since a long time that Paraguay was a great place to do this on quality and for pruces. We arrived and talked with Cedric on this. Cedric found us 2 workers he knew, able to do it as of the next day. Cedric rented us 2 rooms to sleep during the 2 days the work lasted and his car. We were able to visit the salto Monday, the itaipu dam and Igiazu falls from here. In the evening we had great meals waiting for us and breakfast in the morning. Cedric even did a visit to the workshop to check the work in between. After 2 days we had a brand new van (see white van on the pictures). We are so happy, very recommended!!

Free admission to park (tollbooth at entrance appears long abandoned), 4 Free dump stations with threaded rinse, and completely separate potable water fill stations with threaded spigots. 30 gallon garbage cans. (Dumpsters in campground). This is brand new (literally building it right now 2024) and does not appear on satellite image. This location is 300 feet from the existing 3 dumps with ONE potable water fill station (going toward the highway/ away from the camper check-in office).
