Super quiet and not sketchy either. Paved parking lot across the fire station. One light from the adjacent building but it didn’t bother us. Full LTE . We opted for here since the other locations by the water seemed busy/loud off main road or for trailers only(dock). Shell gas station with water hose / clean bathroom just a short drive away. |

It is true! There most definitely is spring water across from mile marker 34 and it’s a HIDDEN gem, can only be found if you know. |

Couple of nice forest spots on the dirt road into the trailhead. Small cleared spots with a fire ring, otherwise very private. Some road noise but not very noticeable. Good camping spot before Crater Lake. Bring bug spray! |

Big area with two pit toilets and trash cans. Not too crowded this Friday, but there’s limited space around the perimeter which is where most people parked. Not too noisy, some shade from trees. And one bar of Verizon. |

Pull off beside the old Pony Express Road, at the foot of mountains near Lookout Pass. Fire ring, trees for shade. There is a dip between the road and campsite so wouldn't work for big rigs or anything towed. BLM land, no cellphone coverage or amenities.

It is no longer a 24/7 Planet Fitness so there are virtually no cars there on Friday or Saturday night. I’m sure it’s fine to park there when it’s open but I wouldn’t risk it when there’s no one else there. |

Amazing spot close to river, it is bumpy to reach that but even with our minivan managed to drive in, quite few available spots to choose so first comes first picks but really nice spot, worth to visit, you can make a fire and enjoy sunset. When we arrived we already saw a lot of cars parked on opposite both sites of the bridge so I guess really popular. |

Plenty of spots to park and pitch your tent, hidden by trees from the main road. You can hear the cars passing by, but the A3 was not very busy at night. Saw no one and nothing - arrived after sunset and left before dawn. Very quiet and beautiful stop for a night with amazing stargazing |

This was a great place to stop for a night while passing through. Pit toilets are new and clean. I was the only one there overnight on a Fri night. Others come and go to access the trails. There was a notice posted of a grizzly in the area on 4/24/2024. Cell service was excellent (Verizon). |

Very beautiful and well kept backpackers in a quiet area up the hill with view over the ocean. Best value for money camping option in the area (we paid 120 rand pppn in the roof tent) and had a perfectly levelled spot. We stayed two nights, because we wanted to go diving at Aliwal Shoal (20 minute drive to Umkomaas). The school holidays had started and the campgrounds in Scottborough were ridiculously expensive (> 700 per night) and Protea caravan park was full.

Sr Ivan and his son Andres are not only great VW mechanics with many years of experience, but also just the nicest and kindest people. We ended up doing several services with them along our 6 months in Ecuador, including basic oil and filter changes, injector cleaning, break and front axis maintenance, suspension work and probably other stuff. He also helped us changing one of our front seats, coordinating with other people to make the adaptations. All of the services were really well done, he was very calm and patience and explained us everything, showing us the problems, during the whole time. They were definitely the best people to have ever worked in our Brazilian water cooled kombi. They kindly allowed us to stay for several days at their space while the services were being done. I can’t express how grateful we are for sr. Ivan and his beautiful family. Oh, make sure you eat Clarita’s (Ivan’s wife) lunch while you are here, amazing food. |

I used MVUM to find this spot. we had to travel a couple miles up hells canyon road. There are sites further down but they were all filled by 7 when we arrived, maybe 5-6 vehicles. The MVUM says that this entire road is allowable for camping but right past this spot there's a private property, a sign saying leaving public land and no trespassing signs so idk. site is on the right side of the road right after 2 pine trees. |
