We spent 1 night here. Very good and quiet. The parking lot is charged only from 8h to 20h.

nice place. Not accessible to trucks because the electrical cables are low but accessible by van. we slept in the hostel parking lot, next to the restaurant. music until the evening but not too loud. access to WC and cold shower. swimming pool extra. super friendly host. 60000/night

As the reviews say, abandoned campsite, no facilities.
road there is rough and I would not pull a trailer down it. Suggest you walk it before you drive. Mainly camper vans there as they can access.
Sad to say, it's about the only free camp8ng spot left in the area, Mainly because it's private property and abandoned....so jo one cares. Also it's out of town, so out of sight.
the suburbs are expanding so only a matter of time I guess.

After driving through the town of Yerbabuena, and not being reassured by the state of the town's two hostels, we decided to try our luck at the "Cantera de Ochin" to pitch our tent. We were made to feel very welcome, and the place is a waterside restaurant offering competitively priced food + electricity + Wifi.

We're on bikes, but there's places for a van!

Nice state park on shores of large reservoir. RV site is reservable, $20/night. We used a tent site, $10/ night. Tent sites are first come first served. Camp host will come by and accept payment. Different government web sites contradict what is actually going on. Forested sites are close together but nobody is here. Just 4of 14 sites. Fire ring and picnic tables off a gravel parking pad.

We stayed just before this spot on the side road in front of the church. This spot can be reached by any type of vehicle. The waterfront can only be reached on foot. We didn't check if the spot directly at the river was still usable, it was raining and it's a bit overgrown. We had a good night here, nobody bothered us. It is about 25m from the main asphalt road, so you do hear the traffic but it's mostly quiet at night. You are in sight of the road. Poor cellphone reception with Movistar, nothing with Claro. Nothing special but the best we could find in this area

Very easy crossing, all close together.
The people will tell you where to go first, second, etc.
no asking for bribes, presents, water, etc.

Road on Liberia side is a dream. Super smooth tar.
Ivory coast is gravel, which turned a bit slippery in the rain on the hills. Should be fine for 2wd rigs as well. lots of 2wd passenger cars driving here.

We had a great night with David in his awesome house just outside of Santiago. We stayed comfy and dry camping up in the roof of his outdoor rancho.

David is really friendly and interesting, speaks perfect English and Spanish and was relaxing to be around.

It happened to be my birthday when we visited unannounced and he welcomed us straight inside then later went and got me a cake with a candle!! He’s not always in and will be going on a moto tour himself soon, so it’s best to message ahead the day before to check if he will be around.

His WhatsApp is +507 6890 4648

A great mechanic and a nice guy! Jethur helped me out with my bike to keep me going towards Colombia where I plan to get new parts.

He was pretty busy already but helped me straight away and did a great job dismantling and rebuilding bearings in my bottom bracket and freehub.

The shop is a little tricky to find. It’s upstairs above the bus station, take the winding concrete and glass staircase next to the ATM and then the shop is in front.

Unfortunately another Walmart bites the dust thanks to the small, disgusting minority who are ruining it for everyone.

Apparently due to the fact that some overnight campers have been dumping their black tanks in the parking lot, Walmart are enforcing a strict 11pm cut off to parking at this location. Security came around at 22.15 knocking on doors giving everyone until 23.00 to move out.

Checkpoint, about 30 km before entering Nasiriya. Very friendly officers, no English. We had to wait, didn't know why but found out later: they insisted that the police escort us to Nasiriyah. We waited for the car for over an hour, and the armed men took us all the way to the hotel reception. We were on two motorbikes. The next morning we left without any escorts.

Across the river from the road that goes to the Sümela Monastery there is an area with covered picnic tables. Locals stop to eat and take pictures by the river. Quite night with the sound of the river. Small path leading down to the river, the water is cold.

I first stayed at this hotel back in 2016, and was excited to see that it was still around when I came through Chela yesterday.

The location is just a few blocks from the center, and it has safe parking available. This is a very basic accommodation, with just a clean room with bathroom and good wifi. No a/c, no fan, and the water is not hot. Also, expect an old, bouncy mattress. We paid 100 QTZ per person.

A quiet, modern and youthful place where you can wash and dry your clothes, drink a coffee, read a book and eat a sandwich or work. There is Wifi, WC/Toilet and free parking outside for your car or bicycle.

very easy access, lots of space, free. all these things make it a very busy location with lots of long term RVs. lots of tree cover which is good for shade but bad for solar and starlink. not a bad spot, just not our favourite.

Beautiful and peaceful spot! As described, go through green gate, just close behind you, and then find anywhere off the road. We didn’t go all the way to the second gate, but pretty far in - road is bumpy, but we made it no problem in our 2wd ram promaster. Very quiet overnight (passed two others camping overnight, but more than enough room to spread out), though clearly popular spot for walking during the day.

Amazing place, nobody at night (it was Friday), 2 fisherman’s passed by and 2 ladies with cows during the afternoon. We chatted a little bit with the lady and all good. There are 3 little buildings, 1 is a bathroom and the other are free rooms (just some stuff). They are all locked buttt the window was opened. We jumped and slept inside it. Super comfortable and protected from the wind and the cold. Try it if you are on a bike.
Amazing sunset and view! Recommend a lot!!

Small football pitch near to the road - no visible from there - spot for cyclists. The night catch me and I found this place. Good enough. Electricity and tap water available. Bit noisy because of cars but there aren’t many in the night. There are WiFi but I don’t know the password.

A few washboards on road, but not bad at all. Stayed about 3 miles up the road, and had 3 bars of Verizon (usually...it fluctuated). Great area.
