Really nice place! We preferred this above the pioneer park parking lot, and its free!

Huge free parking lot in front of the mosque. Busy especially in the evening, but we spent a night without any issues.

A very quiet place to camp. The staff is very friendly. We did the Chimbue Basin hike. It's 7-8h. where we could see a spectacular landscape, women carrying more than 50kg of firewood on their heads and barefoot, and countless rapids and some waterfalls. Our guide was Francis Mucheliwa +265884406058. He lives right next to the Nest Hike. He knows the area, the stories and is very kind and patient. Totally recommended.

Super nice campground with small kitchen, nice showers, wifi, restaurant, breakfast possibility, kayak rental, direct water access. Big lots for campers or groups of tents, also small lots for tents on bikes, also cabin rental

Finally, coming from the west, we found a fuel station with fuel and with power for the pumps! You can even pay by card, but only if the Airtel transmission tower has power... So we had to pay cash 😊

Still as described. Nice little spot just off the main road. Perfect for a stop over. We brought our own drinking water. Water from the lake is moorish.

You can buy a 24h fishing license online to fish in the lake.

Small shop around the corner from the main road, that sells simcards. Guy speaks English and can help you activate.

Surprisingly nice guest house in a beautiful location, perfect for a stay pre/post Boti Falls. Large room, AC, cold shower for 150c per night. No WiFi but full 4G on MTN. They don't offer food yet, but the owner told me they're introducing it soon.

May be difficult to get non 4x4 vehicles to the gate. Motorbikes will be fine.

Here is the border stone between Kenya and Tanzania. On the way is also a small picnick area to have a small stop.

Through the heavy rain in April/Mai the bridge is washed away and it is not possible to cross the river atm. They work on it though.

Everything that’s been said before and more - a proper, professionally run campsite. Spotlessly clean, friendly, roasting hot water in the showers. Gorgeous views over the lake, calm, peaceful - birds, monkeys and hippos everywhere. We absolutely loved it

Laundry/Dry cleaners inside the builiding. Lower level beside the MM Migros.
Paid 500 for two bags.

Informal place with 6 private bush coutages with Solar electricity, Solar waterpump that pulls from the river.
Zuluene has a small staff and welcomes self suficient overlanders

Nice campsite, mostly people stopping to see the gorillas. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Showers/water was not working when we were there so had to shower with buckets. The staff did heat up water in buckets to use on request.

Restaurant was nice, but food took a long time so be prepared to wait 1.5-2 hours for a meal (it is one guy doing all the cooking).

Lots of mosquitoes so be prepared.

on this market, several people change money. got a good exchange rate. if you don't look Asian, walk through, the come to you

Not the best spot for a tent on a windy night! Other than that it would have been fine. The drive is indeed very steep.

new supermarket with adjacent liquor store. good selection of processed food (pasta, sauces, sweets, etc) and hygiene articles.

Very chilled place with a couple of flat areas - quite a steep climb up over loose rock at the end, low range in the Landy was used.

Permit can be purchased here as well (beside Rekong Peo).
There was a „inner line checkpoint“ in Akpa on the way but I cycled just through, probably one also could stop and get through by telling them to buy it in Pooh.

Office is in the main building on the left after entering the gate. Room 203 is where you get the permit or will be send first to the copy and forms place…

Truck stop. Asked if I could overnight in campervan & staff said yes just park on outer perimeter spots. Another Campervan, truck, & some cars also overnighting. Has dog park. Also propane. And dump w/non-potable water for a fee. Not a bad place to overnight off the highway. Also McDonalds & Subway in their plaza. Thanks Love’s for the stay.

I went to the embassy, she told me the border is closed form Cameroun for toursit
if you want to go in, she told me you need to go to Congo first, then Gabon.
maybe eq. Guinea should be an option, but she told me she doesnt know.

Next to the M8 in a quite populated area, we found this secluded place. Great for an overnight stay or a picnic. Based on the tracks, it looks like it has been used before by others. Little noise from the road (hardly any traffic) and almost invisible from the road. No Airtel reception.

Nice hostel with nice private rooms just back from the beach at Paje. hammocks, a slacklone,lots of sofas and a bar with good food (beer 7k tzs, standard meal 18k-23k)
