Nice campsite, mostly people stopping to see the gorillas. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Showers/water was not working when we were there so had to shower with buckets. The staff did heat up water in buckets to use on request.

Restaurant was nice, but food took a long time so be prepared to wait 1.5-2 hours for a meal (it is one guy doing all the cooking).

Lots of mosquitoes so be prepared.

on this market, several people change money. got a good exchange rate. if you don't look Asian, walk through, the come to you

Not the best spot for a tent on a windy night! Other than that it would have been fine. The drive is indeed very steep.

new supermarket with adjacent liquor store. good selection of processed food (pasta, sauces, sweets, etc) and hygiene articles.

Very chilled place with a couple of flat areas - quite a steep climb up over loose rock at the end, low range in the Landy was used.

Permit can be purchased here as well (beside Rekong Peo).
There was a „inner line checkpoint“ in Akpa on the way but I cycled just through, probably one also could stop and get through by telling them to buy it in Pooh.

Office is in the main building on the left after entering the gate. Room 203 is where you get the permit or will be send first to the copy and forms place…

Truck stop. Asked if I could overnight in campervan & staff said yes just park on outer perimeter spots. Another Campervan, truck, & some cars also overnighting. Has dog park. Also propane. And dump w/non-potable water for a fee. Not a bad place to overnight off the highway. Also McDonalds & Subway in their plaza. Thanks Love’s for the stay.

if you want to go in, she told me you need to go to Congo first, then Gabon.

Next to the M8 in a quite populated area, we found this secluded place. Great for an overnight stay or a picnic. Based on the tracks, it looks like it has been used before by others. Little noise from the road (hardly any traffic) and almost invisible from the road. No Airtel reception.

Nice hostel with nice private rooms just back from the beach at Paje. hammocks, a slacklone,lots of sofas and a bar with good food (beer 7k tzs, standard meal 18k-23k)

You can get the inner line permit for Kinnaur and Spiti Valley also in Pooh.
I did so as the Monk Travels (Rekong Peo) told me on saturday it won‘t be possible bevore Monday at booth places.
It worked out fine in Pooh. 200R for the Permit and 100R for fotocopy and forms.

The ferry runs about 5x/week but sometimes they cancel. They post a scheduled on their instagram (@pelabuhan_sape) but check stories for updates on cancellations/changes.

We arrived at 7:45 to buy tickets for the 10:30 ferry and it took us nearly 3 hours to buy a ticket.

You can book the tickets online (trip.ferizy.com) but you need to pay with an Indonesian bank account. If you can find someone with an Indonesian bank account, they can book it for you and you pay them.

We asked an official to help us because the ticket guy was mainly helping the locals. In exchange, we bought him a pack of cigarettes as a thank you.

The typical process is:
1. Fight the crowd and give your passports and vehicle registration to the worker at the table inside the ticket building
2. The worker makes the online reservation (on his phone) and you pay him
3. He gives a different guy your reservation code and he walks over to the other side of the room and gives the official ticket off your reservation code
4. The guy bring the ferry ticket back to you

We paid 485k IDR for a motorcycle sidecar and 2 people. Normal scooter price is 250k.

We left at 11:40 and arrived in Labuan Bajo at 19:30.

They sell noodles, boiled eggs, snacks, and drinks on the boat.

This is a GREAT spot. It appears to be a community park and campground. Completely empty. one older local couple drove through yesterday around 5, nothing since. Big enough for probably even the big RVs...pull through. and definitely eat at Buffalo Joe's Saloon, great service and atmosphere. And the Prime Rib is outstanding.

Here today. Super friendly, good english. Free hot drinks upstairs on the terrace. Sites for 7 vans/ trucks. Clean ablutions, great view of Mt Ararat. Free travel advice.

fantastic spot for the night. parking lot fairly level beside the grass strip. Views are lovely and a boardwalk goes by on the water. Restaurant is insidenthe Fox sports complex. We asked and were welcome to use showers. There are washers, dryers there too.The Restaurant was so much fun. Mark was working the bar. Everyone thought it was great we were boondocking. The encouraged us to stay the night. We ate, played cards and had several beverages as we got to know the locals on a rainy sunday night!

Still available, good water pressure, tastes good and fresh. Locals told us it comes directly from the mountains.

Ótimo restaurante. Atendimento excelente. Self service 54,90. Churrasco e comida caipira.

For camping i wouldnt recommend the place currently .. There is not really good amneties..

But we came here for doing a lot of mechanic stuff and it was done fast, cheap and good .. Dani is the boss-mechanic with the other one named John. Jhn has good knowledge of everythivg and if he doesnt know something he will ask Dani. They will organize all parts for you and they have good connection to get everything.
