Free camping in designated sites, most with fire rings. Most sites aren’t level, but we were able to get level enough with blocks. There is currently a port-a-potty at the entrance. Otherwise, there isn’t much privacy for bush toileting. Nothing fancy, but very close to town.

Quiet street parking, no signs stating no overnight parking. Stayed here 2 nights and woke up with other camper vans following suit, south side seems to be a bit more level. No knock 🤙🏼

Nice little site with easy access to the Transit Bus that will take you to the East Fork which is as far as you can go until 2026 due to a landslide. We booked the Tec pass online and picked up at the check-in. This allowed us multiple trips to the East Fork. Managed to see Mt Denali all 3 days from the drive.

Just arrived here - still a good spot, though the turnoff to the spot is now growing grass. Seems quiet and nice!

We stayed here our first night the La Fortuna area. We payed 14,000 colones for 2 people, that allowed us access to clean bathrooms and showers, as well as the whole park and hikes to the lava fields below, with amazing views of the Volcano. Highly recommend.

Two pools for men and women. 20 Somoni per person. Very hot pool, had to leave the pool after 10 minutes. But nice experience anyway on 3500m a.s.l. Enough parking space infront of the hot springs, where also big rigs can park for the night. Some stray dogs running around.

Just bring paper copies of permits and passports. We did not have them for the permit, as it was issued in Dushanbe but we were coming from Osh. They were not content with just taking photos of our documents here, unlike every other checkpoint. We waited 3 hours, and eventually the (very kind) captain came out and took photos, and we were let through.

We were the only car at the customs, the whole check was done in 15 minutes. First we needed to show the passport to the military, they let us through immediately. They also asked for some cigarettes. Then we drove around a turn to the customs point. Customs guy came out and wanted to see the passports and the documents of the car. We were driving a rented car from Kyrgyzstan and we had the car passport, power of attorney and import documents from when car crossed into Tajikistan. The agent went over the papers, then he asked to see in the trunk. He asked us for one of our 5 liter water bottles, we gave it to him and he let us pass.

Checkpoint was deserted when we arrived so we drove on. From the top of the pass until this point the road was really bad. An outer section on a hairpin bend was destroyed so we were forced to take the corner on an inside line and our Landcruiser barely fit. The day before it rained and the water was still running on the road on many sections. After the checkpoint it gets better but some sections are still pretty bad.

Pulled out at the Shepard Memorial Fountain. Camped the night. However, it got very loud as people drove through the canyon in the morning. Just an “echo-y” corridor. It’s good, not great. No trouble camp site if that’s all you need

Run by a friendly family. the places for your tent are beautiful, on the grass under the trees. The area is also beautiful, with the mountains and the Ottoman palace. Unfortunately the campsite is full of rubbish. The whole thing looks quite tired. Restaurant and toilets are not clean, the shower is in the room of one of the family members. Toilets are not accessible at night. The food at the restaurant isn't really good. WiFi in the restaurant is fast!

“Hospedaje Casa de Campo Zona de Camping” is the name of place.

Camillo is the admin, he speaks good English; you can contact him ahead if you want to confirm space & he can organize tours for you. +57 320 7038733.

A great place to be, easy walk to the main square, far enough from noise. There is a large area for parking big rigs, and they have permanent tents on platforms or you can pitch your own.
There is not always someone here the gate may be closed but not really locked. Open the gate and park they will come introduce themselves.
We paid $20.000pp per night; we stayed 3 nights. There is hot water in shower, turn less for warmer water. The shower does not drain well and there is no place to put your stuff other than on the sink. 2 bathrooms 1 men (no toilet seat) 1 women (cracked toilet seat).
There is a nice area to sit and use the WiFi (as others mentioned it does not reach much past the building).

Wilmar & his mother Blanca own the property; Giselle was there cleaning when we arrived. All very friendly.

Beautiful, picturesque small campground. Unfortunately, no potable water. We would have stayed if water was available.

Not as close to Esso station as I thought! there is a huge sign indicating the falls if you are heading south. I am not sure if the falls are indicated going north. it was raining and there was a thick fog....so grateful for the signage. There is a small brown building with 3 doors but no bathrooms indicated. We stayed in the upper parking lot where the trail starts. Due to bad westher we never saw the beach or fall! No other vehicles were there!

it is now a Harvest Host location, so their members will be first priority; however, if there is room they will accommodate others. The dirt lot is large and flat. Verizon coverage was adequate. It isn't a quiet place though as a train went by at 11pm and dumpsters were emptied at midnight and 5am on a Sunday night. It is a popular stop though (7 other rigs) amd the food and beer were quite good

We were looking for a place to stay after visiting beaches in Georgetown and Phippsburg beaches and before shopping LLBean and the many outlets stores in Freeport. We travel in a 25 foot self-contained motor home. We stayed a weeknight in late June. This is a parking lot. The signs say max 24-hour stay and no camping. From talking to others who'd stayed previously, overnight stays are ok, while opening slides, setting up tables, cooking in the parking lot, etc. is discouraged. We stayed. It was a quiet night. There were at least 8 other RVs. Some places are more level than others. There are no services. There're good ATT and Verizon cell signals. It was a short walk to the stores. There's a free dump station at the Freeport Sewer District. See that separate review on iOverlander.

Lovely people let me camp in front of their restaurant as they left for the evening after the tourists had left. I had a delicious Chaufe with trout from them earlier then left my bike with them as I visited the waterfalls and pools. Convenient bathroom open at night.

Typical rest stop noise. Trucks idling. The bathrooms are closed due to sewage problems so they have portable toilets which were recently cleaned when we were there. Felt safe.
