Spent a quiet night in a flat spot 200meter further on the left from the GPS point, in direction of Sucre. Little noise from the road and no facilties, but no one bothered us.

We arrived around 4.30 PM, found no person to pay at. Because our truckcamper is too long (7,45 m), we used two places to park (from one angle to the other). Stayed overnight, ‘enjoyed’ one hour of Zumba in the evening (7 PM) and one hour in the morning (7 AM). We wanted to visit the city center in the morning, again no one to pay at. Policemen said we didn’t have to worry about the payment, also good to take two places, because it’s a long vehicle. On our return 1,5 hour later, still no one around to pay. We’ve seen other cars in the city, that a kind of ‘parking card’ behind their windscreen, that can be used multiple times, on which they had to complete each time their parking details. We suppose this can be bought in a shop around. We think there is not a lot of free parking anymore in the streets of Loja.

Indeed friendly people, the place is very central and safe BUT it’s incredibly dirty! The shower is hot, but looks like under construction. We asked for a room in the „hostel“ but there are none available (maybe lucky for us, if the beds would be in the same dirty look like everything else!?).

Stayed here last night, it was flat and quiet with a pretty view. Tons of mosquitos the size of horses though! The next morning we drove on towards The park, and after just 5 minutes we hit the Mirador Grey viewpoint - gutted, we should have stayed there instead! equal in terms of space and flatness, but a waaay cooler view! Worth the extra 5 mins!

Still ok to camp here overnight. It's also the start of 2 good mini-treks, we did both in a day. Mirador Ferrier is 750m ascent, about 3km long, with great views of the mountains, lakes and glacier (it took about 3 hours all in all, 4hrs was advertised). The second is a flat, more popular walk along the beach to Lago Grey to see the lake, mountains, and mini ice bergs, about an hour.

A Lady came up from the village and told us that we are not allowed to stay overnight.

She told us in addition that access to the Valle is only allowed with a guide.

Continue the road where is this check point(no signal at camping area) and you will find a small village called El Abiar. There's a beautiful oasis by the village with a river. People are happy to see cyclists and are very helpful. No problem for camping on the grass. It was a nice day and a quiet night. You can get water from the stream for washing but not for drinking I think. Enjoy

Very beautiful campsite not too far from the road but still completely quiet at night. The owners are very helpful and speak English and Spanish. You can even eat here. Space for many tents and all kind of big rigs. The road should be manageable by all kind of cars. You just pay what you want when you leave. Highly recommended!

Super nice and quiet spot about 5km from the highway. Bruno is a friendly host. Lots of bird life around. Pitched a tent under a palapa for 70 pesos per person per night. Nearest food and water is back in Felipe town so bring all you need for your stay, though there are a few beers for sale in the fridge. The 5km road in is rough with potholes and large muddy puddles, so take it slow.

This place is quite good as it can contain a lot of motorhomes.
Quite quiet at night, get protected from wind by trees or big rigs, toilet also quite clean .
Great view on the Fitz Roy if weather is good.

A wonderful place!! We stayed here one night in our camper for free. The people here are so amazing! We had a great dinner and joined them for a bonfire. The place is an eco lodge built in 11/2019 focusing on preserving wildlife. The WiFi worked great, very nice bathrooms and great company with the people working and staying there. We can’t say how much we loved this place

Good alternative to payed campgrounds. We arrived in the afternoon in summer time so there were a lot of locals taking a bath in the water. They left at around 8pm and we had the place to our own. There was a parking guide during the day we asked him if it is okay to stay the night...spoiler, it was!
4wd definitely not needed. Almost every car on the parking was 2wd.
We took a bath the next morning and had
the indeed beautiful waterfall and water for us alone.

Amazing little gem of a pretty coffee shop with beautiful view of Rio Baker. we had the menu of the day at a very reasonable price which included a soup (Zucchini or tomato), baked pasta and free choice of the lovely homemade desserts ( we had the brownie with white chocolate&calafate ice cream - to die for). Very friendly and helpful young owners. Definitely worth a visit for any hungry cyclist.
