We are back after a year and this place gets even better. Now toilet seats (bathroom/showers open 24h), he installed a strong WiFi Router and at the moment they are bringing in water and power (for light) at the camp area. Still Mx 350 for 1 night afterwards Mx 200. They also do laundry for Mx 70 a load and transportation to the historic center is Mx 250. The whole place is well maintained and you have also access to all pools after closing hours (6pm until 9am)

The checkpoint waved us off without stopping us or checking any of our documents. We are going west to Chile. Little traffic today, mostly big trucks.

THIS IS A TOURIST ATTRACTION, not a customs or immigration checkpoint.

We drove from Argentina side to Chile and it was absolutely gorgeous. So incredible, really. No snow this time of the year but we had to pull out our jackets because it was chilly and windy. From Argentina to the Cristo Monument it was steep and windy but doable in our 2WD. From the Cristo Monument to Chile side it was downhill and much tighter turns. We did it on a Sunday late afternoon and we saw only 1 other vehicle the entire way. If you can take this detour, definitely do it! PS, the road is not paved but in very good condition, no issues with that.

The price at the beginning of the trailhead is 18,000 CLP (5,000 for crossing private land, 13,000 for the National Park). The trail is very well marked and maintained, with water access along the way. It is a 14km round trip, 1,100m in elevation gain. It’s a bit tough going at times, it’s a steady climb to the top, but it’s a great hike. We completed it in around 5 hours, with half an hour break at the mirador. The views at the top are amazing, and well worth the effort to get to. It is a little pricey but in reality it’s the cost of one takeaway or a round of drinks; we didn’t begrudge the cost for an incredible hike with amazing scenery which we won’t be forgetting any time soon. I would recommend spending the money for this experience.

Now 5000 CLP.
No audio guide when we went.
A lot of panels (Spanish and English , with interesting informations, but too much informations/not all interesting/some redundant.

2 bigger boats: the Victoria (Magellan’s boat), the Beagle (Darwin’s boat), 1 medium one (the Ancud, the boat of the expedition for the first Chilean settlement at Fort Bulnes) and 1 small one (of a rescue expedition in Antarctica).

A bit expensive but still interesting if you’re interested in navigation/history/building ship!

We’re not sure this place is open. We arrived some 4 hours ago and haven’t seen a sole. Bathrooms are boarded up. No trash cans anywhere. Water at campsite is available though so we’ve washed our van. Beautiful beach! . Very odd so far...

Small run down ruins on the sea. $10 bz entry. Stick to the seaside or bring the bug spray. Jungle ruins very run down. Nice place for a picnic with tables on the sea. Clean toilets and small visitor center. no camping allowed. Was empty when we went.

We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. We paid 5,000 CLP per person per night. The surroundings are quiet and it is only 2km from the beginning of the Laguna Cerro Castillo trailhead (about a 30min walk). There is an excellent “refuge” with plenty of plugs, a sink and cooking area and vending machines as well as pinboards with lots of information about the national park. There is a shower and toilet block, with 2 showers and 2 toilets per gender. The hot water is only on at certain times but the hot water is reliable and the showers are very hot with good pressure. The toilets and showers are also very clean. You can also get a good view of Cerro Castillo from this campsite. No WiFi or signal at this campsite. Would recommend.

Nice spot as described. One other other camper around on Saturday.
Anyway, the way further down isn't that difficult - when you have decent clearance and a small vehicle you should be able to make it. 4wd not necessary - at least when it's dry.

Nice tropical hostel outside of coroico center and also cheaper. Very nice view!

Natural swimming pool and small cascada. Possible to camp also (few places to park).
Breakfast available and mainly a restaurant. Andreas is Italian and cooks amazing pasta and we had also caiman and a lot of incredible jungle food. We highly recommend this authentic place.

Stayed 10days and mostly just with one or two others on the huge and beautiful area; sometimes there is loud music from the nearby restaurant and the karaoke bar but mostly the music stops around 10p.m; the restrooms are very good and well maintained; lots of seabirds to see from the shoreline

Love this spot - great place for a hot shower, a wifi connection and some quiet down time.

We have always paid 150 pesos but they increased the price to 250 in the last week or so, two people in a campervan.
