Anywhere North would be ideal, hundreds of spots to choose. We had many curious and friendly locals come to camp.
Road down this East side of lake very good, must be stunning with rain. Beautiful landscape, very wild

great place to spend a few days, especially beautiful in autumn, when there's apples allover the place. spectacular views over the snowpeaked mountains. We did hiking routes 9 and three and they were both relaxed walks though beautiful valleys. We hardly met any people at all. also very clean in the park.
many different camping spots available, some a but too exposed but you also can camp along the dirt road that leads into the valley on the right side of the sealed road. there are more quiet and remote camping spots.

Sandy beach of Dorgon lake, dunes of Mongol Els close by. Phantastic view to snow caped mountains. 4x4 required for the deep sand.

great place but 4x4 only I'd say as the place to camp in a 2wd is not big or flat.
Beach sand is boggy right from the entrance to the beach.

Arrived in the evening. The whole parking lot was empty. Within 10 minutes we had the police knocking on our window. Told us that we would blend in more at Kmart if we were looking for a place to stay. Later, we got send away at Kmart too. So we went to `parking lot discovery park' and had a great night there.

Waterpark with restaurant, cabins and ample room to park. Plenty of room for any size rig but rough, steep road coming in. $3 for adults and $2 for kids for the waterpark. Charged us $15 to camp for the night but there are 8 of us. Must be a weekend place. Monday was completely empty. We were the only ones there. Incredible views and they had firewood there that they let us have a fire. We chose not to park by electricity because of a better spot and it was not too hot.

One of the resorts is open now. I was treated to a kids disco the evening I stayed at this spot. However my prayers were answered by a thunder storm and power cut. Aqua 'barbie girl' was never a favorite of mine.
The place is good. Trees provide shade until midday if you park back from the beach a bit too. Friendly security guard too.

seafood shop / restaurant alongside the PanAmerican highway. We stopped after seeing their sign from the road, to buy fish to cook at dinner, and realizing they were also a restaurant in the back, ended up staying for lunch.
the seafood is really cheap at the shop. restaurant a bit more pricey, but delicious. Huge tuna steak with grilled veggies for 10$, 2 lobster tails diffrent style for 15$. great service, parking alongside the restaurant, away from the street, where you can keep an eye on your vehicle.

Sorry mate, additional info.
So we were 3 and sleep in the only 2 huts here.
Each hut is 700 Met, doesn't matter one or 2 persons sleeping. Mussa tried to charge us 700 Met Per Person for sleeping. Lunch was 300 Met. Mussa said 350 for lunch when i settle my bill the next morning.
They are lovely people and it's a beautiful place. But I don't appreciate the somewhat 'dishonesty'.

Updated pricing:
Mussa insists and confirms sleeping in the hut is 700 Met Per Person, NOT per hut.
Breakfast is 150 Met. Very basic with 2 bread rolls, fried egg and coffee or tea.
Pricing for lunch and dinner could range 300 to 350, depending on Mussa's mood.
Quantity of rice was plentiful, but portion of seafood wasn't generous. Quite simple cooking, Medium~small size fried fish, tomato coconut sauce with rice. And it's overpriced in my opinion compare what you can get on Ibo island.
You could try sweet talk, and Mussa might give you special price.
In conclusion, I would recommend a day trip here, but not staying overnight. Unless you have your own tent. Even better if you bring cooking utensils.

We parked there around 5pm and at 8pm a park ranger came and gently told us we could not stay there (even there were no signs). We ended parking at santa cruz safeway parking lot, and nobody bodered us (even there are "no overnight" signs everywhere)

Enough spots but ended up staying in the Sam’s Club lot because of noise. Very loud: highway right behind, generators, and semis running throughout the night. Nice to be able to use bathroom @ Cabela’s plus they had water fill up. Not near anything else of interest.

At the intersection with the primary school, take the dirt/rock road 4km until the gate at Tino's house. 20 pesos to pass through his land, then 2km down a rocky road to the waterfront.

High water on the day I went, so I paid 40 pesos for a (solo) roundtrip across the river in a loncha.

A guide "volunteered" to come with me, saying the path was dangerous since recent heavy rains meant high water and a muddy path.

The waterfall was only visible from the top--the path down was too muddy and dangerous. (The path just to the top of the waterfall was also muddy and dangerous.)

Upon return, the guide asked for 200 pesos, which was ridiculous. I gave him 30.

Upon return to Tino's I paid him 20 to cross his land and 25 for crossing the campsite across the river--the owner apparently recently died.

We parked in the ally in front off Carols Lodge and Carina del Sol Hotel. we asked at the reception and they said it was fine too stay for the night. WiFi just reaches out to the street but you'll need to get the password.
Every night they do a all you can eat and drink BBQ including chicken, burgers, salads, rum, vodka and pisco for S40.
There is a night club inside the compound as well but noise wasn't an issue for us.

Hello
It's a travel agence service who can organize your travel for one, two or tree days around Cusco.
They organize a private two days tour for Valley sacred (full tour) and Machu Picchu for our family for a realy good price.
In the street you must enter in an litlle nice place in the building to find the agency.
The organisation wasn't perfect but they do everything to perfect it.
They do the job
We let our motorhome to the Quintalala camping place during this time and they come to take us at this place.

Lovely lake! Stayed two nights. The area is quite overgrown (out of season?) some local traffic, but no one came to ask for payment but did chat to some friendly locals.
Two sides of the lake...we originally parked on the right side of the lake (when facing the restaurant) but this side has a gate from the village and a few inebriated hombres came for a (naked) swim and drunkenly, and mildly uncomfortably, for too long...especially since one ended up losing his machete and was stumbling around trying to find it.
We moved to the other side and had no further issues!
The restaurant didn't look as if it was in operation ....
Overall, some weeds in the lake but we swam in it a couple of times....and still haven't kicked the bucket ;)
