Found a private spot on the beach. No facilities but garbage. Campground was clean.

This is a quiet spot right in front of the ocean. Guarded by the CCTV of the Novotel hotel so it felt safer. Locals are nice, except one who kept asking for alcohol because he thought our olive oil was some kind of whiskey.

We didn‘t camp here, but stopped at the gate and think it might be one of the nicer places in the area. My understanding is that the campground is fairly new. Camping is only 50 pula pppn plus entrance fee of 100 pula pppn (for international guests). You can hike into the gorge. The gate is only open until 16:30. +267 5350004

Paid 200 per person.
Pros: common room with heating where you can have shelter and have your meals.
Hot showers

Cons: normally, no water in the toilets and showers. You have to use the owner’s toilet.
Dirty
Not much wind protection on camping area
Useless internet
During the night, lots of young people rented the common room for a party. So, probably there will always be loud music on weekends. Impossible to sleep.
We do not recommend this place.

They stop a lot of cars here and check all the paperwork. Make sure you have insurance. This was the first time I was actually stopped at a police checkpoint after 7000km in Chile and Argentina.

Sadly they run out of Water and used the Grey Water Semi Filtered... Party Hostel be prepiared for loud music. For what they charged 20.000pp sadly not worth it. Toilets the whole Night run down and dirty after Party. Showerwater was so dirty Guests called the Police... Next to here the Path goes to the Beach it looks there is a good spot to overnight for free, if the hostels are busy you can skip in and use their facilities...

Although it officially opens in February 2019 we could park in their garden and use the shower of one of the hut's.

It's in a really good location a bit out of the busy town and 3 km from one of the cascades. There is a Boulangerie and a bar across.

We didn’t expect to spend the night in this city but we didn’t have any other choice. We went to 5 different spots (beach, pemex, walmart, etc) everyone told us to leave. In some Pemex police security will ask us for 50-100 pesos to spend the night. After being kicked out from Walmart, the police send us to the Pemex at this location. We had to move at midnight as we though we could stay at Walmart. Anyway, at Pemex everyone was ok letting us stay, we just had to leave before 7am. We spend a quiet and safe night. It’s right on the highway so after 6am noise becomes louder, but overall a good and safe spot to spend 1 night. No wifi, paid toilets.

We parked here overnight beside roundabout, free. Not perfect but does the job. Toilet 20m away. There’s bigger parking a bit higher but they close after 10pm.
Tea plantations are cool, unusual to see them that close to the city. Good 1h trek.

Awesome stay. Friendly Canadian/Mexican owners, nice little pool for our 7 and 10 year old kids. Wifi was 8 out of 10. Great restaurant, car available to rent, cabins as well, came for 2 nights stayed for 5. Very cleans and secure. After 10 years owners thinking of selling if interested :)

We travelled the 23 mms to see the penguins but the gate was locked. I then checked on TripAdvisor and despite all the signs from the main road and even the hosts at the camping, who knew we were coming here, not being aware, this is now closed. Tripadvisor comments suggest that the penguins stopped coming here so there is nothing to see. :-(

Camped here for one night. Friendly Dutch owner Edward welcomed us heartily and gave us a tour of his restaurant and the river area. There is a lot of space for camping, bathrooms are clean. Edward is also a great cook and we ate supper and breakfast in his restaurant which has tables and chairs made out of repurposed items. He uses local suppliers for fresh tasty food. His enthusiasm and conversation made for an enjoyable stay

Beautiful location, friendly family, great food! When you stay in your rooftop tent you can stay on a beautiful hill, next to a village home. We did get a bit annoyed with the kids from this home, who were starring at us for 2 days and even started saying ‘hello hello hello’ and ‘give me money’ at some point. We let the family know.

Like the others, easy crossing. Took us 45min, incl quick car search on Rwanda side and Ebola check. We bought our Rwandan visum at immigration which was very straightforward.

Flat campground with rather tight accommodations. We were here for a weekend right after new years and it was not too crowded. About 10 blocks' walk to the beach. Family that owns and operates the campground is friendly and was accommodating.

Not for large rigs, however, our 7 meter long x 3.2 meter high van was able to fit.

The only campground in town that we could find that would accept a dog.

Tourist Restaurant - AVOID! Definitely the worst service we’ve had in ten months in South America. Bad value food. They messed up the order so that only half the food arrived. We asked for the bill and they had charged us for twice what we had ordered! It then took half an hour of arguing to get a correct bill, despite us only having three empty plates of food between the five of us. A ‘pint’ of stout beer was also actually red ale served in a 500ml glass.
