This is a beautiful and quiet spot next to a (dry) Oued. You have to cross the Oued which has some big stones. But no 4x4 needed. Great to spend some quiet days and nights. Some shepherds pass by with a dromedary or some friendly young maroccain men with their motorbike. Just be friendly and they are happy. No facilities.

The Eastern Lake Campground 2 is in Point Washington State Forest (Walton County), about 9 miles south of Freeport, FL. This is a primitive campground located on the banks of Eastern Lake. Campsites do not have water or electric, but a restroom is available. This state forest is widely used for hunting, mountain biking and hiking. The Eastern Lake Trail system consists of three double-track loop trails and the hiker or bicyclist can travel the 3.5-, 5- or 10-mile loop. The Longleaf Greenway Trail is approximately 8 miles; it is not a loop trail, but a spur trail off the Eastern Lake Trailhead. The McQuage Bayou Horse Trail is for horseback riding only and consists of two loops offering riders their choice of a three or five-mile ride. Other recreational activities featured here are: fishing, picnicking, bird watching, wildlife viewing and photography. This forest is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. Get outdoors and explore the recreational opportunities at Point Washington State Forest. $9 a night.

As described before but not very clean and a bit run down. Safe parking and very friendly staff. The owner Daniel is a doctor and very helpful indeed. Good option outside of center. Quiet place and an easy walk to open plaza or real plaza where you can buy everything to stock up. Very good cafeteria nearby called Cafetti.

Our first opinion: a campsite with desguisting food. We had lunch there. There is no shade for campers and the pool is dirty. We looked at the the wildspots, but the waterholes where empty this time of the year. So we stayed at the Elephant Sands.
Afterall we talked with the owner and we got chicken and spareribs from the BBQ for free. And they where delicious! The showers are very good and hot and also the toilet are good. The elephants came so close to our camp and the bar, in the end it was allright. It is now 130 pula per person. So still overpriced.

Great place to do laundry and get a meal. You can also get a shower there, but I don’t know the condition as I have never used them. Food is good in the restaurant. Parking lot is tight for larger rigs. We are 24’ and are ok. Don’t think I’d want to take a 30 in there.

Super nice place with an amazing view. Can be really windy and there isn’t really any good protection.

Also I would say that you have to be careful about security as you are right on the beach and there aren’t that many guards for the camp.

Accessible for big rigs even higher one up to 3,60 meters. You can sleep under trees on the parking. Very good option to rest and enjoy the swimming pool. Small playground for kids. A restaurant for breakfast and lunch with affordable price for a hotel. You can refill your tank. Boat tour available directly from the hotel, to visit the laguna.

Good free spot, next to the river and very nice village. There is a small market, with everything you need : fruits, veggies and meat... Please note that there is no shade on this spot, so can be tough when it’s hot.

Nice wild camping spot on the west coast of Pemba island. Access difficult because the road is not on google maps or Openstreetmap. Dirt road ok for bicycle, no sand. It might be hard to access by car because of the branches coming over the road. Be aware that local fishermen also come there for catching octopus in the morning. But I experienced this part of the island as the most hospitable with no kids asking money. Probably a place out of the main tourist circuit, where rarely a foreigner goes.

the price is 500 ARS p.P. - to expansive !! - not worth to visit, because the road is a bad, bad ripio and when you go to the museo in El Chocon you pay 50 ARS p.P. , the people are nice and you can also see, how they work. We are really interested in Paleontology, but the arrogant guy at Dinoproyect makes that we left.

The chocolate at Lamanai is definitely good. They have a small selection of tiny chocolate bars, but mostly their chocolate is in little nibs. A variety of flavours are available. We purchased the mint and the cardamom, but other flavours included ginger, coffee, strawberry, cinnamon and chocolate covered coconut.
If you go, this will be a SPLURGE. A small bag of chocolate is $24BZD. After sampling I purchased partly out of obligation, wanting to support the local artisans, but shortly afterward I discovered that the place is owned by a fairly wealthy older American ex-pat and his fairly young and attractive Belizean wife. Darn. Somehow this just takes the authenticity out of the experience. We heard him on the phone purchasing cocoa nibs at a very cheap price from farmers/wholesale sellers in the Toledo district (Punta Gorda area).
We tried the ice cream. It really is delicious. Super chocolatey with pieces of nibs in it. It was very expensive at $10BZD for only 4oz. Like I said it was a splurge. Although we will enjoy the chocolate and the proprietor is friendly, I now wish I had waited to go to Punta Gorda to purchase my Mayan chocolate from local farmers instead of ex-pats with money to spare. Well, maybe I'll have to buy some chocolate there, too. To compare, ya know?

This was an awesome little spot by the Sibun River. If you're headed from Belmopan to the coast the turn off is on the left hand side of the road, right before the bridge. The rocky trail doesn't show upon Google Maps. We drove in as far as the "road" took us. The overlanding site was a little too close to the highway for our liking. Eventually we made it to a clearing on slightly higher ground with a group of large trees for shade on our left. Yes, there is garbage around, but nothing compared to some of the spots we've seen in Mexico or Guatemala. The river was quite warm while we were here in early March, but still cooler than the air. It was about a foot deep, and a great reprieve from the sun's intense heat during the day. It's still early for rainy season, so the river wasn't high enough to flood us out, even though it did rain on us pretty hard around 5:30am. Locals told us that the worst of the rainy season runs June-August, so be careful camping here during that time.
The views here were awesome; small jungle covered peaks rise high above the river, and at night you will hear howler monkeys and be surrounded by fireflies.
In the morning some men and their hunting dogs came by. They wished us "provecho" as we enjoyed our breakfast and coffee. Up stream next to the bridge some local women were doing their laundry. This is a safe, awesome and free place to spend a night or two!

Very welcoming and helpful owner Elmer. Beautiful location next to a rock. Due to the Zimbabwean situation there are less guests and the ablutions are a bit run down, but when we came they immediately cleaned them. They are in the process of restoring the complex, focusing on the foreign market.
