On the north east corner of Main and 4th drive in and they’ll fill you up. So easy. Can be a bit of a squeeze to maneuver a big rig.

It’s a garden that the family turned into a wildlife paradise over the last 10 years. Lots ot birds, frogs and also sloths can be seen almost with guarantee 👍
Different types of tours available:
1. Walk through the garden (with guide) for $25/C15‘000 pp
2. Photography tour of frogs (with guide) for $35/C21‘000 pp (this one caters more towards frog fanatics and photographer
3. they even offer full night tours out in the woods (10 hours or so), but need to arrange in advance (no info sorry)

We did the second one, first a bit put off by the price but have to admit we absolutely loved it. During 3 hours very knowledgeable Andrey (one of the sons of the owner) showed us 6 diffrent types of frogs he catched the night before and for photographer it’s a delight the way they present them. Plus he pointed out many birds, told us about the wildlife in general in CR and to finish we still made a littke walk through the gardens.

We were allowed to stay in the quiet parking lot for free and could have walked through their garden all afternoon after the tour if we‘d have wanted. Clean toilets (flush/with TP) and a basic cold shower available as well as wifi

Large parking area behind Bally's.... there were a few Rvs, buses and larger trucks along with alot of cars... also appears to be employee parking back there as well. Camera's are up so felt safer leaving our van here while walking around. Great location to visit the strip as you are just about right in the middle. Slept in our self contained van for 2 nights.

Campgrounds on a man made lake 11 miles outside of Clayton NM. $8 for primative site. $10 for developed site. $14 for developed with electric. Nice peaceful when we were here in begining of April. Lake states about trophy bass. 1/4 mile trail to see Dinosaur tracks.

Luis and his wife Gabi are super lovely and bery generous hosts who welcome overlander in their home. They offer all facilities (toilets, electricity, wifi, water) and so much more! Also he built a second gate to enter the compound with no height restrictions anymore, so good news for all truck camper like us!
Right now Luis is building a couple of affordable rooms all over the garden in the style of a little wild west village which he will rent to those who‘d like to have a break from their vans/campers/tents.
They both travel a lot themselves and are very knowledgeable about the countries in Central and South America!

Handy campsite for late border crossings, paid camping 110 and a traditional dinner 90.

A local friend from Mendoza took us to Raul's shop to get our passenger door fixed after the Patagonia winds caught it and prevented it from being opened.

We understand it to be a well respected shop with a long, positive history in the area. Raul treated us very well and charged us a very reasonable rate to remove the door, bend the hinge mounts back to spec, and bring the door sheet metal into alignment. Due to the lack of time in our side, he was unable to have the door painted and warned me ahead that there would be slight 'burning' on the exterior paint due to the spot welds.

The work was very well done, and will not require additional preparation when I get the van painted later.

Note that as far as we know, they only speak Spanish.

Nothing worth the stop here except very kitsch boards of Jesus, the pope and cartoons about indigenous characters... ok there are some flowers too. We spent one week in Argentina and already saw places more beautiful...

Arrived late afternoon and left by 8:am the next morning. No issues staying here for the night. The store is quiet at night but there is noise from the highway. No other RV’s in sight when we arrived and none when we left. Good for a one night stay b

Great place to park, nice view, pit toilets, right by the head of trail. No lights, great place to watch stars. "No camping" signs but nobody here at night this time of year.

After checking iOverlander I went here. Two things on my motorcycle had broken and needed welding. They were quick and very friendly.
It doesn’t look like a good place, but they are good people and know what they are doing.

This land is Arizona trust land. You need a permit to be anywhere on it (day use or overnight). There is a small patch of BLM land closer to the peralta trailhead but it is not easy to get to.

Huge fines are given if you are in state land trust land without a permit. Don’t know how often they check or if they do at all. The website boasts that $100,000 of fines/year are given to people “mis-using the land”.

Kinda spent the night here. No hassles really, I was just apprehensive about getting a midnight knock.

Parking security was on the job when I pulled up in my non stealth vehicle and I was spotted right as I pulled in.

When asking employees in Pro Bass Shop about getting permission to park overnight no one could give me a solid answer. I was told to talk with security.

I decided to just chance it since I figured security would not know if I was staying at the nearby hotel or not.

The lot had the typical noise you would expect from a commercial parking lot (People talking, highway noise, car alarms etc.)

My mind was to keyed up to get a good nights rest so I bounced In the wee hours.

Clean, quiet and free! Great views. It’s a bit of a ways up on a dirt road, but as about as good as a leveled dirt road you can get. When leaving the campsite DO NOT exit to the right on the W1 road, the road leads to a private property gate closure about 7 miles up the way and there is no way for an RV to turnaround.

Nice free campground indeed. One word of caution. Do not drive from Shonto unless you have 4WD. Many deeper sandy spots throughout the trip. Use 564 in and out.

Fernando really is the best and in general an awesome person.
I stayed here for 2 nights while we worked on the car together, I could use any tools I needed and was able to fix a lot of things myself.
His shop might not look like too much but he’ll get the job done and will use other professionals for things he can’t do himself.
Can not recommend this guy more.

A nice place to stop close to the I37. Close to the garage it is more quit because it is close to the main Hyway.

We were searching for somewhere to stay for the night away from the main roads and found this lovely piece. Very quiet, zero traffic and next to a lake, although the lake is fenced and locked off. But a great spot for a night, our maybe two. No services but decent mobile signal.

We came with our VW kombi, Pinky really knows the car and tolds us some tips how to take care of it and what is normal and what not. We had the feeling that our engine works irregurarly. He is an very clever old man, he has some healthy issues so he will advise you how to repair it by yourself. If you are lucky you will meet other people with Kombis there, doing exactly the same as you :-)

Late start to day so camped here before crossing into CR. Price is 270cdb. WiFi does not work and electric is very weak. Would not run our fans when plugged in. Bathrooms clean and open all night
It’s a port so expect noise at night and in morning

In Tres Lagos, they are closing the 288 and the Ruta 40 in direction Gobernador Governores when there is heavy rain (it was only raining the evening and night before in El Chalten, but quite heavy). There is a sign at the end of Tres Lagos when both streets are officially closed. You can cross but both streets consists of clay. You need 4x4 otherwise it's like driving on ice and very dangerous. You can ask at the tourist information for detours or the weather.

Were here because road to Gobernador Gregores was not passable because of heavy rain. Nothing special but only 200 Pesos. Showers are warm/hot but not very long. The owner closed the cafeteria more times than it was open. All in all she seemed not very hospitable but for one night it was okay.

Easy to access in our 2WD van. Arrived just as the sun was setting at around 7pm and we were the only ones there. Left at 930 in the morning and never saw anyone else. Nice flat ground and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean. Felt very safe and couldn't hear any highway noise.

No beach, but rocks and very beautiful. Get's crowded in the afternoon. If you have a 4x4 you can drive up the hill. Many cool places on top.
