Beautiful spot on a hill with view over the valley and Bran Castle in sight. Some trees and bushes for shade. No one around. Only cows on a field. Few mosquitoes or flies. The road is a bit hard, only small rocks but it can be done with a small campervan. Actually you can reach it from two streets that lead from the main road. Google maps will NOT find the way! Use maps.me

Really nice place to spend the night, 1000m2 flat sandy ground, wood to make a fire. There is no water at the moment in the waterhole. We hear a roaring in early morning. We saw 4 elephants while having breakfast.

No apparent campgrounds in/near town. Was pointed to this spot by locals. Must cross easy, shallow creek. Start immediately south of west end of red foot bridge. Flat, dirt spot for tents with fire ring. Reasonably hidden but not 100% stealth. Safe town. Driveable path ends 50m before and is good for campers/vans. Motorcycles can make it all the way to campsite.

Approximate location of Arshan Hot Spring. Must walk from the main road--park in guarded paid parking 300m west. 250/adult, 20 min limit. Indoor swimming pool with warm, cloudy water but hot water spurts from a pipe. Water is cloudy and heavy with minerals. Inflatable beach balls provided.

Also horseback riding, zip line, hot spring, mountain hiking trails, carnival games, rocky riverbank to explore...great place.

We were the only campers, they let us use one of the lodges to shower.

The road gets kinda loud in the early morning with trucks.
No problems overnight. To be honest I think you could stay in any place in the whole parking lot from Costco to cineplex. It one parking lot and there's no sign anywhere.

It’s free off season, but no bears. The workers are entertaining.

Very professional. He dont hade a windshield for our car (VWT4) so he made one! First he removed the destroyed one, made a mould and shaped a new one. Was expensive but we needed.

Lots of flat ground. Many fire pits. A big garbage bin. Some toilet paper and POO left by inconsiderate people... but very nice.

Against my better judgement I followed google maps from Somoto Canyon to the beach and ended up stranded on a mountain for two days with my truck high centered on a crumbling rocky road. Go the long way!

To go to a great spot you have to find a road that gets you on top of the hill. Beautiful view. We did not stayed for the night but filmed great views with the drone.

Stayed two nights. Great place. Smaller ground which kept noise to a minimum. Owners were wonderful and made sure our stay was perfect. Would recommend

We reserved 2 wonderful daytrips, one to Winchus and the mirador over the Cordillera Blanca and Negre and other one to Lagunas Llanganuco and Portachuelo Pass. We were very satisfied about the organisation of these trips. Friendly lady Conny at the office and a wonderful driver Pariachi who shared a lot of info with us.

Nico rents out the top floor of his house and we found this place on AirBnB, however it's easier to go directly through Nico.

On Airbnb we paid approximately $27 USD a night for 2 people due to a cleaning fee and service fee but directly (we extended our stay) it was more like $21 USD. There is street parking (It's a very quiet area) however if you have a motorcycle, you can discuss this with Nico as he has a garage which he can fit them in. He fitted in both our loaded DR650's.

The middle floor of his house has the kitchen and also is his Alpinestars shop. He will also give you a shelf in the fridge and there is a separate freezer. There's 4 gas hobs which work well and an oven plus pots, pans, cutlery and crockery.

Upstairs you have to yourself and it includes a terrace, two bedrooms (1 twin and 1 double) plus a bathroom with hot shower. There is some damp in the double room but it didn't cause us a problem and it didn't smell of damp. There is also a gas heater. The location is excellent, close to the sea and there's a path you can walk along next to the shoreline. There's a big, nice supermarket 4 blocks away and you can also get a bus into Montevideo centre not too far from there.

This is a great, chilled and well priced place to stay close to Montevideo. Nico and Hernan (his house mate) are great hosts.

It really is a wonderful spot! It is a steep path, but we did it in a 2x4 VW T 2 .
We spent one night there and it was very beautiful. We actually almost stumbled over a penguin when we walked along the coastline. So please don't let dogs run free. The Penguins are supposed to habitat the island, but this one was on the mainland. A dog would have hurt or killed it for sure. Also, please keep a 5 m distance to the Penguins in order not to scare them. After all, we are intruding their natural habitat.
We were there in off season, it was quite windy. Besides an old television on the beach there was no garbage. Let's keep it that clean!

Nice Campground, close to the hot spring 2 KM. 25 CAD per site includes hot/clean shower. First come first serve. At 18:00 in July still some places available. WiFi available at check-in.

Nice campsite, right by the dam! Beautiful and quiet. Staffs are nice and speak english. Hot shower accessible and there is a pool and bar.

It’s not close!!! We parked in a parking lot and went for a walk and decided to come here (even though it said it was close) and check for ourselves. All the family was working on the terrain fixing it (apparently because of the rain it was pretty damage) but they welcome us inside, to park in front of the house on the street and had a lovely time getting to know them and talking about all the travelers that had come here!

Patricio is very sweet and will host any viajero with pleasure. I had a great time there. Better call him upfront

Parking for RV with dirt floor, only one water point and two power, with bad internet. It looks like an impromptu place and so is very expensive: 40.00 per person.

Very quiet spot. All services or almost during opening hours as it is a shopping center.

Nice spaces. For tent or RV. Fire rings present. There is limited cell service.

Super modern professional and big workshop. Some staff speak English pretty well. They do everything here and organized spare parts within a few hours. We had rear brake pads and discs on our iveco eurocargo truck changed for about 600 GEL.
