This parking lot is surrounded by trees, next to the river which people frequent to fish. Quiet, free and does not have any NO overnight signs, outside provisional park so is legal. Pit toilets, picnic tables and fire rings.... must bring own wood there are signs saying you cannot pick up dead wood here. Drive to the end of the parking lot and there is a great walking trail which is approx 1 hr, take your time and enjoy the views, highly recommend, beautiful views leads to a waterfall with information posts along the way, very enjoyable/stunning walk, average to moderate trail, steady climbs, worth the effort!

Relatively large compound. Fully gated and secure. William the host is extremely knowledgeable about every sliver of the surrounding area. They offer a community braai at night for only 100R which was better than a 5 star restaurant.

WiFi in the rooms is hit or miss but works well in the common areas. Recommend

As described by the original post, $15 per person. Comically large TV in the room. Wifi was not great, but passable. Secure parking area for multiple vehicles.

beautiful campground with a very nice host. all the sites were occupied when we arrived but the host let us stay for 1 night in the day use area.

No longer the place to sign in. It's a hotel and they directed us to the Tourism office to sign in there instead. (I added a new dot here for that).

CORRECTION on my previous review.
The guys did an awful job which I only discovered the day after. After that, it took 3 whole days to get my suspension back to its original state. Definitely not recommended. They kinda have good intentions all the time, but They are the farthest ever from profesional. Definitely not recomended

a quiet spot just next to a gravel road in a forest, very quiet and lots of firebug. near road stop

Dormimos una noche acá, muy tranquilo y bonito. Es interesante visitar la Casa de la Cultura en el pueblo, para ver la colección de sombreros y parte de la historia de su gente. Lindo pueblito y hermosísimas vistas de los alrededores.

hot showers with good pressure, clean toilets. Tent sites located underneath big trees, powered RV sites a bit exposed. We were almost the only ones, so no problem to get a site there in July.

BUT: MOSQUITOS. Felt like the entire Canadian mosquito population lives on that campground and was waiting for us.

The initial review of this campground is very accurate. All spots have amazing lake and surrounding views. The upper level sites are closer to the road and you hear the traffic. At the lower ones closer to the water the traffic noise is barely noticeable.

We were able to fill our German gas bottle with our adapter today. They only fill in 3kg steps, so 3, 6, 9, etc. and charge $4 per 3kg
Arriving just before lunch break was a bad idea though ;-)

As described, Tambo Condor is a restaurant/hostal with a nice terrace overlooking the valley and the lake, with hummingbirds in the garden and condors in the distance.
Very friendly owner likes to receive overlanders either in the small (max. 2 trucks) parking lot on the street or of course rents cabanas for people wanting to get out of their rig/rooftop.

Paid 20 BOL ppn. Didn‘t paid the 10 BOL for photos and nobody cared if we take some or not. Everybody took photos with smartphones. The castle is nice to see but it‘s not really a museum just a few informations in spanish. We didn‘t see any guide around, so no tour today.

First said we could tank for foreigner price, than offered to tank for local price with a little propina right into tank. Nice young guy.

Great place. Didn‘t heard any dogs. Don’t know how or why, but there are absolutly no mosquitos.

Really good jerk chicken shop away from the touristy area. They have ribs as well but didnt try it. Price point is fair.

There is lots of easy accessible space and some steep spaces for several cars, beside a small pond. No facilities. Some noise from the street. No special view. Telus 3bars.

Spanish school in Salento (And english school for the local kids), highly recommend, personalized lessons for all levels from patient and kind English speaking teachers. July 2019 30.000/h or 25.000 if you take more than 3 hours. Salento is a great place to releax and take lessons for a few days.

Area currently open as of 7/3/19 it’s a Great location, very quiet we stayed here one night. No WiFi here so prepare for that, also a sign was posted that they might be shutting down the area as a dispersed camping area because people are not cleaning up their trash, so just be sure to clean up!

We were stopped but it was just a document check for us. No issues at all and no questions about first aid kits, extinguishers etc.

Beautiful scenery and lots of interesting hikes. Campsites were really close together. Hot showers on site but $1 for 2 minutes which feels quite short, you'll definitely a few dollars! Not much cell reception

Sheltered, green, grassy valley. Full of flowers, butterflies and birds. Next to a very tiny Forrest, gives you shelter from the wind. Beautiful views of the snow covered volcanic peaks.

We where looking for the other places around here, but they where to windy. We left the main gravel road and crossed the field. 4x4 necessary, especially when wet.

Roas leads to mining activity. No place to camp.

Side valley with several options. Hidden from the road, some wind protection, trees and access to river. Hard to find other places on this road. This stretch of road is relatively busy because of the goldmine, we think. Roadnoise is covered by the noise of the river 😋
