Booked here with Yordy and Dina, great personal tour, avoid the mass tourism. Easy to park right at church, safe and secure. Just WhatsApp Yordy and Dina the day before, no problems. Tour usually starts around 10.

Gorgeous place, even the dry waterfall, the natural pools continue to, Super beautiful. We do not pay anything to get in and sleep very well! But as Mexico is full of surprises, we awoke with a group of young people with two men and switching men were "joking" with a weapon, shooting at the tall, I asked if it was okay to be there, they were kind, even we were very fearful and we were running!

It was our first asronomictour and we expect more than it really was. The telescope was not so big and you couldnt see the stars close. But it was also fullmoon and the Moon was shining to bright for seeing the stars clear.
The guid spoke good english

Track from highway through forest leads past a flat clearing to one side of track. Hidden from highway but visible to anyone using the track. We were woken at 11pm by people claiming to be police (might have been forest rangers). They at first demanded I get out of vehicle but after I told them family was sleeping seemed happy enough to leave us alone. Few vehicles used track during the night and people walking by from early morning. NCell signal intermittent.

We really liked this place. We parked our camper on the clean parking area. In the evening we watched soccer with the locals and had same beers. Washroom was very clean and everybody was friendly. 20,000 per car.

A lot of broken glass on the floor and lack security guards evidence the situation here. I travel alone so what I did was to park at the Mercado Municipal (inside parking is very safe), got all the heavy stuff there ( vegetables, fruits, meat) and walked here for all othe things.

If you avoid rush hours is easy to park inside even a medium size truck, very secure and friendly informal security guards waiting for a tip. I left my car here after shopping and lunch for 1 extra hour to visit líder and sodimac.

Fairly straightforward as previously described by others entering Belize. The only thing I would mention is the customs guy who did our vehicle import permit wanted to hear concrete plans, campsites/hotels and a contact number. There didn't seem to be a standard length of time for the permit, the guy made it clear that he was making the decision on how long to give us. It worked out fine, but make sure to be nice and be prepared.

The station looks deserted. We drove up and paid 100 mxn, but they didn't fumigate the car. He entered our information in the computer and gave us a slip of paper that we never had to show to anyone. While we were at the fumigation station, no one else stopped there and plenty of cars drove by. We asked the insurance guy about this later and he thought it was strange and assured us that fumigation (or at least the document) was still required.

There where also people who wants to camp here with tent but thats is not what he wants.
Self suffient cars okay but no tents because he is not a camping.

The owner is very friendly.

I was going to the spot further north but figured it was going to be more of the same and stop here instead, just before the 4x4 area (going north). Only 2 cars drove by on a sunday afternoon. Very quiet. 4x4 not absolutely required, but recommended : There are a few wind blown dunes along the way which you can blow through if you don't stop, but if a random dog jumps in front of your car and you are forced to stop in the middle of one of those, then you would be happy to have 4x4 instead of getting out the shovel!

Quiet place below the trees, which provide shade, next to the costanera and just a few steps from the beach. At the beach, you can also find open air showers with warm water. During weekends, locals park here too when they visit the beach.
From the costanera, just drive up at the small park.

Excellent view, obviously. Very quiet night spent next to the cascade. Though we were here in dry season, the bed of the waterfall is still very interesting to see, but the view over the lake is the real winner with this spot.

There are three potential areas to park, one when you first enter, up near the road, which is most suitable for taller vehicles due to a low branch on lower levels, upper view is great and has a breeze. Next level down is a bit of an incline but we had no trouble and passed the branch with more room above us (we are 2.5m). right next to cascade, if in rainy season you'll fall asleep to waterfall sounds. Third level we did not try to go to as it was a bit Rocky, but also probably fine. It has another lookout point and some small stone tables.
It is $.50 pp and $1.00 per vehicle. when we asked if we could stay the night she first told us $10, which we said no way to. She quickly said ok $5, which would have been fine. However after to speaking a bit more she allowed us to stay the night for just $2. So the lesson is be friendly and gracious, and it can work in your favor.
The gate is locked overnight, we felt very safe. we came around 430 and she left before 5pm so don't be too late getting here I'd you hope to stay.
