INCREDIBLE fish tacos. Be prepared to pay gringo prices; 110 for 3 tacos but the fish is so fresh it's worth it

Had a grand time in this seemingly totally remote spot until an ox cart came rumbling next to our camp. They were as surprised as we were. And very polite. Amazing stars and total quiet... except for the ox cart of course. ;-}) There were also old elephant droppings but no elephants

Flat grass spot with view over Dushanbe. it's on the side of a road but there are very few cars passing by only. Hidden from all the villages around. No shade. About 30 minutes from Dushanbe center.
It's possible to park several vans here.

Site at the end of a gravel track by a lake where there is a kayak and a boat. Easy access for any kind of vehicle. Some distant noise from the E18 highway but otherwise very quiet and peaceful. Didn’t see anyone and no cars passed by while we were here for one night.

Access is via a dirt road on the middle/outside of a broad turn on the highway. The large flat parking area is alongside the dirt road that continues down the hill (probably used only during alpaca shearing times). The parking area is only visible to larger vehicles who can see over the guardrail driving east.

Very nice, quiet (from inside the vehicle can barely hear trucks on the road) safe and beautiful views!

Big rigs can fit here but need to back down the dirt track so they can make the turn needed to get around the small rock formation.

Nice bivouac for cyclists with grass and bushes to be well hidden. One of the few quiet places along the route from Samarqand to Bukhara.

If you want some sunshine in your life, Jorge is your man! I can confirm everything above. A beautiful spot with views over the lake. A kitchen, the fireside, good company and interesting conversation. A worthwhile stop.

Locally administered and excavated Mesoamerican archeological site. The museum houses a carved glyph of "1 Earthquake", an important local figure in their history. You must call the local museum administrator for admission.

This is an annex of the larger Pickwick State Park across the Tennessee river. Staff attendant was friendly and polite. Sites were clean, with a campfire ring and picnic table. Right on the water. Would highly recommend staying here. Rate was $17.xx/night or $12.91/night for military or veteran. A great overnight if you’re doing the Trans America Trail.

As described. Amazing views of the mountains and river. We had the place for ourselves, there are some spots along the dirt road, some of them even have fire pits. Definitely not for very big rigs, the entrance is narrow and bumpy, we did fine with our truckcamper. It might get muddy if it's raining. No sign of bears. No cell service.

Street parking around the park, located in the middle of the town. It’s a close walk to the main strip of the town, and it is not a too terrible of a walk to the beach! There are showers at the beach if needed but the park bathrooms stay open all night, and there is a drinking fountain if need be. Really quiet and no one bothered us! Close to a lot of good restaurants! Good for a couple nights! And it’s free! :D

You could camp at the cafe (toilets, shelter) or in the little forest close by. It can be windy and very cold. In the little forest you can find some sheltered places. Unfortunately the toilets are then 5’ walk away. This campsite won’t be for free anymore. They’ll charge 7$ per car.

These guys helped me out in a pinch replacing the front wheel bearings. They were able to do it quickly and for 1800 pesos, which is a little less than $50 right now. Look them up on Facebook and send them a message there or via WhatsApp to the number on the page. There is no sign but the house number is 1662 and there's a gray door. Can't recommend enough!

Quick checkpoint with the military and police. Everyone was pretty nice (they brought us grapes and bread ^^). Showed passports and visas. Please note that there are two stops about 40 meters apart and you'll be checked on both sides.

Nice hostel run by very friendly guys. The price is $15 US dollar for a dorm. The price includes breakfast. There is a good wifi and a garage to put motorcycles and bicycles. Cars have to be parked outside by the road. Walking distance to the beach and local stores and markets.

Great free camping spot! Be sure to arrive before 6 PM to catch the surf school crowd before they leave for the night. If you arrive late, be sure to ask at the hotel next to the gate to have the gate opened. Very welcoming, clean bathroom, no showers, small restaurant for food and drinks. Quiet night and peaceful morning. This is the off season, so it did not start to have clients until mid morning. Woke up to pelicans and flamingos on the shore. Awesome people, good spot, highly recommend.

Stayed here 1 night in a truck + camper. There was a couple of other RV’s here and a steady amount of people checking out the viewpoint the whole night. We had a group of drunk people yelling at our camper and pushing it at one point around 1am which was scary, but other than that had no issues.
