definitely not amazing. I reckon this post is the owner or friend.
in regards to Overland's ring, they have no secure parking. however you can get a Moto down some stairs, but it's a pain.
the place is not as nice as the post before suggests. I moved on to el portal which is much nicer and 20 q cheaper. (50q for a dorm bed). it's also 20metrea from the entrance to semuc and right on the river. they have a parking area that is closed at night.

We found this shop by “Pablo Vasquez” which is on iOverlander very near from this place. There are some mechanics and car body repair shops here.
The shop is located at right back. The owner “Segund obeso” and his team are so friendly and work carefully.
We installed and welded 6 hooks on the door for extra locks on our van. Cost 100soles after negotiation.

With no places in the area for this area, we thought that we had found a quiet parking lot near the park to stay the night in while passing through Chico. We had two bikes stolen off the back of our van as we slept. Long story short, one bike was recovered by the Chico PD and we discovered that petty crime (specifically bike thefts) are super common in this town and this specific area. Avoid it, especially if you have anything that can be taken outside of your van.

The people of Chico are super nice, it's just unfortunate that theft is currently such a problem there - it's a known fact among locals.

Really good value at 46Bs/pp in dorm. 70 pp for privates. Lots of common space, sofas, cable TVs in every room, WiFi is a bit patchy at times but tends to work most of the time. Good well equipped kitchen and big dining area. Clean and tidy, suicide showers are reasonable and toilets have loo roll. Lots of space for bicycles downstairs in courtyard (covered and in the middle of the building, plus receptionist has to let people into the building, so it’s very secure). Nice place with good atmosphere and centrally located, would stay again.

Great bar with good beers on tap and bottles. Good atmosphere and often live music. They had a cultural language exchange on Tuesday night too. Has WiFi. Next to Pacha hostel.

Good spot when you want to take a bus into Denali early the next day. High clearance vehicle recommended as the road is pretty steep and bumpy (more than you can see on the pictures) but we managed okay with our normal van, too.

They wanted 30 R pp and he explained us anything about 5 people, but we were just two. We didn’t understand the problem and were told to wait for an other person to explain. But after a while nobody came, so we left.

One of the campsites is at a cave, about 8km from the lodge/reception. The cave has been enclosed with two levels, including a deck complete with a shower. There is a donkey fired warm shower too, flush toilet. Inside the cave are several sleeping platforms. Lovely quiet spot.
N$150 pppn. Firewood N$30, which you will need to feed the donkey.

Everything as mentioned below. Still 15 Belize pppn. Everything clean and nice. If you have a dog: The owner’s pit bull is not the nicest dog. It was fine for us, but it is wise to keep you dog on the leash.

Ok. A gost town, not our favourite spot in N-Chile. But very calm this time of year. plenty of space, during our stay no facilities. But: many sealions playing in the 'bay' fun to watch. We stayed and made friends with the nice straydogs. Prob. not worth the detour...

Très beau site , entretenu . Par contre le prix est vraiment exagéré ( avons payé 10000 pesos/ personne ) , douche froide , pas possibilité de se brancher à l'électricité , branchement pour téléphone seulement .

Very nice place, with electricity, light and bbc next to the river.
When we arrived, there were nobody. So we asked to the militaries (there is a navy station next to the camping) if we can stay here for the night.
So they called the honor and he came to put the light on and open the bathroom, very nice guy !
We paid him 200pesos (4€now) for 2 people and a van.

We did not go through this road, but asked police in cotahuasi pueblo if this still exists and they said it was cleared late 2017. If you are headed towards Pausa /cora cora / puquio we suggest going through chacana and then to ushuyo. This drive is spectacular! The road through Pampacaya is supposed to be terrible. Go during dry season, if even slightly wet 4x4 highly recommended. Roads are kinda nuts, but scenery sooo amazing.

Even though camping options are not the greatest, it’s still good to arrive here at about 4 pm, spend the night at one of the campgrounds and visit the ruins at 6am when they open.

Regarding dogs: Not allowed according to a sign, but nobody asked us, neither did they check the car. If it stays inside your car at the campground most of the time and while you visit the ruins in the morning, you will be alright.

Perfect for Overlanders looking for like minded people. Yvette and Paul travelled extensively across South America before settling in Filandia and creating Steel Horse Colombia. I guarantee you will want to extend your stay. I did!
I hope to return in a few months. This place is truly special.
P.s use Maps.me to get here. not Google maps!
