Follow the Petersville road past Petersville, through the canyon, shortly after the bridge there are mining roads that cut off into the hills... follow the road to the right (towards these way points)... you can drive a decent way out, stop where ever you feel comfortable with your rig, and hike the rest... totally worth it... the mining road does have several creek crossings and one fairly challenging loose gravel incline... not many turn arounds...

This exists as a hotel already, but it is also is a campsite and as most overlanders filter for campsites, I am adding it again.
Lower Dover is a really lovely place: An easy drive, just 5 minutes from the Highway but also right in the jungle. You can sleep in your car and use showers, bathrooms and WiFi for 15 Belize pppn. They also have great food, you can bath in the river and explore some hidden maya ruins. The owners are really friendly and can help you with anything including tours to the atm caves etc. Highly recommended, also in the lonely planet. Also check the reviews on google! We stayed two nights and loved it. Dogs allowed, but the owner has some huge dogs herself: just organise with the owner when your dog has to be on a leash and when not, then it’s not an issue at all. Our dog loved it.

I totaly beleive the other bad review! This place has a very bad vibe. They even acused us of having stolen a mechanics mobile phone and we had to open our bags to prove we didn't. avoid!

Sorry... but nothing like Ngepi on the Caprivi! Nice enough. Price is good at $5pppn. Hopping on a Saturday night. Food good but pricey. Showers hot with good water flow. Hippos nearby. George very helpful.

Better than most of the surrounding desert for camping because you can hide from the road.

Very easy. Exiting Kazakhstan took perhaps 30 minutes. Remember to get your customs form stamped out.

Entering Uzbekistan very friendly and easy. "Welcome! We are glad to see you!" We waited 30 mins in the queue before realising tourists can skip it. Very brief search. Didn't check any bags or ask about medicine.

Amazing abandoned blue bus. Like in the film into the wild. It's clean and has even one bed inside. 4G signal. The bus is next to a trailer that is locked. So maybe it's sometimes inhabited.

Wow, super spot.
Would have stayed here longer if my deadline wasn't so close.
One square of grass for many RVs and a few spots along the path leading to the point. The point is accessible with high clearance only.

Beautiful sunset. No amenities. Two other RVs present. Some locals walking for sunset.

Nice lake to visit. Road is good enough, might get difficult when wet. Some clearance is nice but we saw all kinds of cars pass. River crossing is not difficult (stones and not even ankle deep), second crossing has a basic bridge.

Entrance is 750 tenge per person and 200 per car. Camping on the lake is 750 tenge, but you need a carry-on-tent to get there. Camping on the parking lot may be possible but we liked places along the way better (see other pin). There are 2 parking areas after the toll booth. Walk to the lake from last parking is less than a km.

Nice flat spot on the river. There are clear tracks coming from the road. It’s used more often, there was a bench and an old campfire when we were there. Plenty of wood to start a decent fire (and plenty of rocks to keep it safe). You’re not completely invisible from the road, but traffic is light - especially in the evening and morning.

We received exceptional service in this location. They don't sell the part we needed, but they found us a place in town that does and called there to confirm.

Great place, close to the road but figure after dark there shouldn’t been too much traffic. A great 4 km trail you can take.

Wonderful place to stay overnight. It was absolutely quiet in the night. There are three guards at night. You can visit the museum for free between 8am and 4pm. We can recommend it. Very interesting and you get a nice view from the top of the lighthouse. The park is open until 10pm. You can see a lot of turtles and iguanas.

We stayed there during the day. Very loud music as said before the whole day. Even without guests in the restaurant :D Impossible to sleep there with this music. Beach is nice, just take care of all the broken glass at the parking area.
