we asked to stay here with our sprinter camper van. but they denied because of not having enough water at the moment. however there was one other camper.
somehow that was peculiar...??

nice and calm place. stored our camper here for 5 days and stayed each two nights before and after. friendly owners. uncomplicated and clean. there were just a few overlanders during our visit but I guess with 1 shower (hot) and only two bathrooms I can imagine it can get crowded. 12 per person per night, 12 for the car, 4 electricity (at sites) and 5 soles for wifi (slow). expensive for what it is but best option in Cusco and for sure there is someone to chat.

Way too exposed to spend the night here unless you are in a tent, in which case you could go down the hill a bit and be out of sight. The side road in question has a sign saying that it was prohibited to be there from 6pm to 5am so I did not investigate further.

Great spot! Quiet, beautiful and tons of options to be hidden from the road! High clearance definitely recommended as there is some rocks and big bumps, but it is currently rain season and the ground looks fairly solid, so 4x4 not necessary. Below 10C at night.

Paid 90s, which was about twice the price of the border. It took a while, she didn't really want to do it and asked ridiculous questions, but in the end she did it. The cops around are hungry and I got stopped 3 times in one day, so make sure to renew your SOAT even if it's an headache!

Nice place to stay. Drive between rice fields, then some sandy part and get to the sandy beach. Choose your place to stay. At the evening some friednly kids came, said to feel free here amd left. Night quiet, morning with beautiful view on the lake. Water perfect to swim if you are not afraid of bilharzia ;)

Fantastic place! Everything has already been said. I managed (VERY SLOWLY) to drive in, in a 25' Class C towing a car. I would not advise it for a vehicle 28 ft and longer. I should have driven the car in seperate. It's only 3/4 of a mile in. But everything was ok. I drove very slow with mirrors in and made it no problem. Road in is not great but it's a jungle road. Take care at the gate. There are rocks and some cement sticking out that could damage. Just be aware. There are a couple sharp turns but was able to swing wide. And also a couple of squeezes that has the soft leaves of the jungle rubbing. Lots of space to choose sun or shade. No height problems once at the camp. The drive in and out was worth it for the time I was there. I will be stopping in again on my way back. Cost 80 pesos/per day.

Very interesting place between the mountains and rig-e Jenn dunes. many old buildings and great views of the area. you can even find old pits which go into the mine, but they are 10-20m deep, so you can't enter (we found 2, maybe there are more). you can also probably camp there if it's not to spooky (=
you can either reach it from east, passing a military base or from west via the small airfield. East you need 4wd, from west it's maybe possible without.

Overlander Oasis is a wonderful place. This little Campground under the trees is really an oasis and a meeting point for travellers. Nice bathroom and shower with hot water. Leanne and Calvin are very friendly and helpful and they can give you a lot of information about the area. Calvin can help you with car problems and if he can't fix it, he knows someone who can. Sometimes they organise cooking classes or burger evenings and that's why the atmosphere is so good on this place. We loved it

We parked the van at this precise location and proceeded to walk down. Keep your right and follow the dirt road. You will pass a sign in spanish saying graffitis are prohibited in altavista and eventually get to the main parking. You can definitely drive your 2wd to the real parking (when no rain). The road to the gps location and the main parking is the same (so if you've made it to this pinned location, you might as well drive to the real parking). Although it's not a bad walk, you go through the plantations and it's enjoyable. The price is 50p per person and it seems legit. The whole activity is nice, but it will not blow you away. Cheers!

Decent spot. Parked on the street. Town has cool vibe and beautiful beach. Watch out if you park close to the court, they have soccer games in the evening and balls hit the van (we switched street side).

The place was empty when we arrived, were able to negotiate the price at C 3000 pp pn without electricity. Still quite expensive for what you get... dirty toilets (flush, no TP) and basic showers and some sinks to wash dishes.
You really pay the beach front / Playa Samara location here. Still a nice place to stay with lots of shade from palm trees and good swimming in front of the door.
