As described, the road to go down to the campsite in front of the Hotel La Huerta is impressive but no problem with a 24ft. Surprising place is really worth the detour. We stayed there two nights, 140 pesos / pers / day and 20 pesos for parking. Do not advent itself if you suffer from vertigo or fear of the vacuum. We were on weekdays, there were not too many people.

Nice quiet neighborhood. We asked the lady in the house we stayed in front and she was really nice. Nearby there is a brewery with great pizza.

We also went to the other place nearby, but there wasn’t any room for our 33 feet RV and it really is a bit run down with old, broken RVs.

Clean, safe and after 12 pm really quiet for a place like this. Slept there for one night without any problems.

Paking fee is 6000 for 12h
We left the car here during 2 days to go on a hike up to volcano's foot.
First hour is very simple and you can enjoy a wonderful hot spring at el rancho. Several pools and waterfalls, seems free.
After that is a strenuous 6h walk to the first camp named la cueva. Nice views on the volcano when arrived but nothing to see before. Be prepared to a tough hike with a lot of mud...
However it is not the best place to stay overnight (big house in front of the parking), we prefered much more the place few kilometers before named "juntas river"

This is one of the campgrounds inside the Salton Sea State Recreational Area.
It has full hookups for 30 dollars and dry camping for 20 dollars. Seniors get 2 dollars discount. Hot showers two minutes for a quarter. Flush toilets are clean.
This campground is similar to the Mecca Beach campground, 3 km south, but that one was closed because of a water problem.
We could enter without reservation but at the weekends it can be full.
T-mobile LTE signal, but not very fast.
There is wifi but we did not try it.

It’s a nice place. We stayed two nights.

We drive this road the day after a thunder storm so there were mucky sections and since it was getting dark we decided to stop rather than chance getting stuck in the dark. No cell reception. Nice views and lovely ocean sounds.

A couple turnouts here that seem to have been used by road construction. Partially visible from road. Spent the night here - quiet. Not much around except herders. Trucks and busses for roadworks / mines pass through here all night but you’re far enough off the road that it’s pretty quiet.

The bridge is partially collapsed in the middle and support underneath is washing away. To us it looks the river is currently too high to drive through it so we took the risk and crossed. It was pretty sketchy. A local person came by and asked us not to use that bridge because they want to preserve it for light local use for as long as possible. He said there’s another bridge east (we assume past the town) and everyone to use that one instead. Please respect wishes of the locals! And our mistake; we were not aware of the other bridge. It does not appear as though this bridge will be repaired anytime soon.

Very dark road at night, no lights. But very busy road until about 11-11:30pm on week night. Even in the pitch black, expect people walking, jogging and bicycling until about that time on both sides of your vehicle (bike lane on one side, sidewalk on the other). They are literally right beside your vehicle when they pass, as one person accidentally walked into my front corner.

At two different times a police truck and a jeep slowly passed with their spotlight checking the sidewalk, vehicles and vegetation all along road.

I would say about 1am (or so), a cruiser stopped beside my vehicle, turned on his red and blue lights, got out and looked throughout my vehicle with flashlight. I was in back with my dog, but had black sheets up so no one can see in back windows. He must have realized I was sleeping in there (or at least trying to) after seeing sheets up, so I was expecting a knock but instead he left. I think because I'm in an SUV, and the other poster, by looking at the submitted photo, was in something that clearly shows someone would be sleeping in it, that they didn't get looked in upon. I'm sure the cop was just making sure nothing illegal was going on, since only 1 or 2 other vehicles were on street and none were close to me.

Woke up at 5:30am to someone riding their bike in dark. By 7:30am, every couple seconds there was a jogger, someone riding their bike, or someone walking. Not to mention cars going by. Very active area.

I parked near the end where coordinates show for this spot which is near beach entrance 43. Entrance 43 has doggie bags and garbage at road and at beach, where as, just down the road towards condos, entrance 44 only had garbage bin.

Great spot for having dog on beach. They have drinking fountain and rinse off showers at entrances too.

A terrible place! In the evening, many trucks arrive and then leave their engines running all night. Nothing with the sound of the sea or the sea breeze - just noise and stench. Electricity is only 110 V, the sanitary facilities are scary and that for the price of 70 R for 2 people.

basic campground in a forest. no camping fee. pit toilet, river close for drinking water.
views to mount fitz roy. trek 1.5-2 hours from here to mount fitz roy.
mid march: countless numbers of caterpillars crawling around or falling from trees, sometimes dropping their excrements onto your tent. I touched them after getting tired of using things to get them out of our tent place, so I assume they are not hazardous.

addendum: WAY TOO MANY CATERPILLARS that make this place little enjoyable. they crawl towards you, they find their way into your stuff, they fall from trees,

second addendum: and they even travel home with you!

Very peaceful place with easy access off main hwy in San Juan. Easy to catch bus into Riobamba or head east towards Guayaquil. Also possible to organise hike to Chimborazo. Friendly dogs. Juan (owner) is supremely gracious and welcomes you to his home and family. Must ask to get hot water for shower. $15pn but tenters got a lower price. We did not notice any height restrictions.

Very nice and affordable park. Really good change to spot animals like tiger, leopard and sloth bears. We saw a sloth bear and many deer and birds. We paid 2680 for a long morning safari for 2 persons. Worth the money! We also camped on the parking of the ticket office for free.

We found here a cozy place to stay in Puerto Natales. The rooms and the bathroom were really clean and for us the location was just perfect. Fast and stable Wifi connection. Alejandro the owner has a huge knowlege about Torres del Paine and the flora and fauna of the area and is always willing to help. He gave us also good tips where to eat and what to do in the city and surroundings. The included breakfast is good, homemade and way enough! Highly recommended!
We paid 35000 clp. per night for a matrimonial room with shared bathroom. Also other room possibilities available.
