Great place as described. I was the only person here again. Lots of pitches under trees. Little kitchen area with gas. Gas hot water for showers. Even in the sinks! Electricity, lights, potable water outlets. WiFi near reception. Access to the lake for awesome sunset photos. Friendly dogs. Ars150 pp plus Ars70 for the van.

This is a very nice looking little "resort" with cabañas for 400 pesos/night and a very nice swimming pool area. They seemed surprised by the request, but allowed allowed us to park in their grass parking lot by the cabañas for 100 pesos. It's located in the 2nd gate on the left as you drive down the lane, so it's away from the highway. (It is by the chicken coop populated with enthusiastic roosters, though.) We're 28' long and had no problem turning in through the gate. Long rigs might not be able to make the turn.

Great street from Garzon to Plata. Nice, great trees and landscape, sometimes narrow, but here it changed to no asphalt (sometimes yes, sometimes no). Not a problem at all, but again a bit rough. You should know it.

Boat ramp with a large parking lot on the North East Arm of Watauga Lake with a beautiful view across the lake of large cottages. It's at the end of a long paved, but very pot holed road. The boat ramp was super quiet and dark, but has no amenities. The parking lot is flat, no hunting for the perfect spot! You can swim here, and there are no signs discouraging overnight parking or camping. Not many people were here using the boat ramp while we were here, but it was rainy.... Great for a night or two.

5000 was also the price for me alone. Great black sand beach and cold spring fresh water swimming 'pool'. It was very busy on Sunday afternoon when I pulled in but everyone left by 6pm and the night in the shady parking lot was peaceful.

Car parts mainly for Japanese cars. But the owner of this shop is so eager to help you and speaks pretty good English which he learns from watching English news channels.
So if he does not have your part he'll help you out. look at the uploaded photo for his shop details. because it's somewhere in the middle of the Bazaar.

Moderator note, Moved check-in to warning category 10/20

At sunset, 2 guys came pretending to own the place and obviously waiting for us to pay if we wanted to stay for the night ( the place is a community land). Then a 3rd man came and explained that the place is not safe at night, telling a tale about some murder of foreigners in 2015. Then, they explain that our security would'nt be garantee as there are many hippos and elephants roaming around at night in addition to locals that might likely get drunk in this very saturday evening and who would bother us. Clearly local people are upset to see foreigners staying here without paying anything to local community while there are 2 official campsites nearby.
So one might seek agreement of locals before attempting to stay the night ( ask Lucas from the 200m away house in the bush oposite the river).

Stayed here while cycle touring past. Felt like a safe place to leave the bikes (downstairs in their shed). Very grubby room, but incredibly comfortable beds - possibly the best I've seen in South America so far! We paid 80bol for two people in a double room. Lots of blankets.

Tucks' Truck

Very nice little night stop. Great views. Access is the dirt-track on the up-hill side of the hill (the lower access is blocked). The area stays level at first, but that area is still in sight of the road. You can tuck around the corner out of sight of the road, but there it's no so level. We found some rocks around to put under the wheels to level-up. Larger rigs will fit but won't be able to turn around. We found it easier to reverse 100m down the track and around the corner to get out of view of the road. (I think fullbelly's entry below refers to La Colina nearby, not to this site)
