Nice space next to the lake, to avoid on Sundays afternoon (music with drunk people). Perfect for one night.

Be careful, we were trying to go to Cusco taking this road but it snowed! Make sure you ask a local before taking it...

WARNING! We arrived here today and there was no ferry for crossing the river. We asked the woman there and she said there are no ferries (since 2 days!) for 2 months, untill July. The road to the ferry at the end was very tricky ( a lot of places with high water- 60cms). So better inform good before planning to do the loop.

This is a store and rest location on the Appalachian Trail near where it crosses US29 at Neels Gap. It is at the approach of Blood Mountain. It will be the closest store in a wilderness area that has many unimproved campsites. Cellphone services is typically available due to the elevation.

The store has camping and hiking equipment, outdoor clothing, books, maps, snacks, prepared frozen foods, and other supplies.

Gates were locked-up on a Sunday afternoon. Some bewildered looking caretaker guy stared at us through the fence. Despite all the tourist signs on the outside, he didn't seem to understand why we might be asking to come in. We drove on to the wild-camp spot marked a few hundred metres further up the hill.

A nice place to camp. There are several (probably many) spots on the road to the geyser. The spot nearest the geyser is very nice. There is a Wikipedia page about the geyser. it errupts either every 8 hours or 22 hours. it errupted during the night for us and continued flowing until we left in the morning. The ground around the geyser is super cool even when it's not errupting, and it's within a hundred feet of the river.

Nice place, newly established with cabañas equipped with private bath and warm shower. The cabañas are equipped with kitchen. Beautiful view over Puerto Lopez. Open since April 2018. The restaurant serves preferrably italien food like pizza and pasta! In the afternoon between 18:00 and 19:00 happy hour! The Swiss/ Ecuatorian/Italian-owners keep the place clean to European Standards.
Price depending on season between 30 and 50$.

Great value for money, especially if you can survive the unkempt grounds and grim shower/bathroom blocks. The location is amazing. We parked the van parallel to a couple of campsites near the beachside back gate. That way we could look at the sea and and also use the van as a "wall" that gave us a little privacy from the rest of the campground. The family is super nice. We stayed for four nights so they charged us 3000/person and gave us the key to our own bathroom which was only slightly bigger and slightly cleaner. You have your own covered area with tables and chairs. And the wifi reaches the sites and it's pretty fast. There are a few sinks around to do your dishes. You might get a visit from one of the cute but curious kids.

Ok guys lets draw a line here.

The road is not THAT BAD. There are some road works and some potholes, but it is all paved and you can drive easily at 60 kph. Just pay attention. I hateeee bad roads and avoid them when possible. But this is not one of them.

Nice couple runs this place. Simple but tidy sandy lot. Clean bathrooms and stalls with pipe showers. Sinks for washing. Electricity. A block from the beach, next to a great supermarket. No wifi yet, but if you have an antennae you could pick it up from the supermarket or bar. Some tree limbs, but we are 3m tall and managed. 3500 pp/pn. Washing machine here, so could be possible to use it 👍👕👖

We went from Brazil to Argentina. On immigration was everything OK and fast, just stamp to passport. But on Aduana we met some “new-guy” there and he did not know what to do. So we must wait aprox 1 hour for his boss. Aduana is in the room with sign “importado” on left side od building.

Wonderful green mountainous landscape around and clear blue raging river. Several good spots to camp downstream from the little dam.
The small road from Dorud to here is a stunning drive, all paved, but beware it is pretty narrow in places, with a deep drop next to the road. You might have to back up for oncoming traffic. I would not dare to drive this with a big truck (both for size and weight), unless you’re fearless.

The road from here further to Bisheh waterfall is -for now- unpaved and also very scenic.

The region north of Cham Chit (not this spot) including Gahar Lake is a nature conservation area, for which a specific permit (to be obtained in Tehran or Dorud) is apparently required.

Huge grassed area behind ACA / YPF. Marked as for members only but I was allowed to pitch a tent for one night.

Supermarkets, etc. in town. Fast (by Arg. standards) and free WiFi. Small shop, toilets, no showers.

Bit noisy from passing traffic.

Restaurant at YPF station 200m to the east.
