28Nov2019: huge parking with plenty of shade, space for surely 3x the number of people they can accommodate ... so we politely asked if we can park and overnight in our camper if we come for dinner. Answer: "No, parking is reserved for our guests". Our reply: "But if we come for dinner, we are also guests, arent we?". Reply: "No, the parking is for our staying guests, I am sorry!" - Sure, they are free to make their own policy, but the lady was not sorry, she was unwelcoming!
For those wanting to stay in a bungalow, the sitting looks to be very nice indeed.

Great campsite, better facilities than at the bottom of Malacara canyon (which you'd have to pay for) while this is free. There is LOADS of space, with many picnic tables, Bbq spots, water and electricity points. Toilet block seemed to be open all night, there are showers too. We were the only people there but it seemed very safe. Wi-Fi available for free in the town square, a 5 mins walk away.

In Nov 2019 we visited from Praia Grande and then left on towards Cambara. The road is rough for about 20kms on both sides, but it is steeper with sharper bends coming up from the coast. We managed but it took about 2hours in our GMC Savana.
The canyon itself is pretty cool, with both walks away from the visitors centre being mostly flat and easy. Views are arguably better on the short walk to the Vertice mirador as there's a waterfall and views right down the canyon. Cotovelo was nice, but the walk to it is forested for the first 3km so you don't see anything for a while.
Entrance is free, toilets in the visitors centre, camping forbidden in the park.

If you are looking for textiles that are actually made by the local community, then go here- 100% of the sales go to the people who made them! Ponchos, bracelets, belts, etc. All of the artisans here use natural fibers and dyes, so you can be sure that you are buying the real thing. We happened to be walking by and met Sanan, who started this NGO over ten years ago- a very friendly and inspirational person to talk to as well. They have numerous projects underway that truly support the local community. A great place to check out in Pisac.

Gorgeous views of endless rainforests. Just aside the way to Luang Prabang (coming from the south), nobody around, hardly to recognize from the street.

beautiful road! I recommend for RWD motorhome. the road is soft, just medium washboard on the last 5 kilometers on the north before the road 41.
the road is in way better shape than the 49 we took to Lago posadas, but worth it

Just beside the road this empty house is still on good condition, even have a roof!
Unfortunately people have use it as toilet and most of the room inside are spoiled. That is even more disappointing when you find a decent pit toilet hut 10m at the back!
Anyway i pitch my tent in front and the wind protection was perfect. I was close and visible from the road but still very convenient location when cycling up that pass.

The best place in a lot of kilometers if you come from Samaipata. Hidden from the road and surround by the nature. Very quiet. Perfect for one night. No facilities.

Asked for permission and could stay the night. It’s a good and safe spot personally the trucks passing super early in the morning around 4 o’clock bringing wood down the mountains were a bit annoying.

Had a 20cm crack in our windshield since Mexico that grew to a 50cm crack on the passenger side in The Patagonia roads and winds. Took them most of the day to fill the last 20cm of the crack in hopes that will stop the spreading. 4500pesos...a bit steep, but if it stops the spread, it’s worth it over a new windshield!

We didn’t stay at this place but where there for asking the price and check how it looks. It didn’t look very nice but it’s a place which is open before high season. Because they still wanted to have 30 Real for this not very perfect place per person per night we went on. There are better places to stay

Excellent supermarket to stock up. Large parking lot, no size restrictions. Good selection of none fresh goods. Minimal selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. Excellent meat counter. Get your fresh fruit and vegetables from the roadside stands.

Probably the worst camping we've stayed at : rundown, dirty, burnt garbage all over the place, broken bathrooms, no hot water, no potable water, empty swimming pool..
We only stayed there because it was late and we were running out of options but we do not recommend to stay here!

They wanted 200 Q. just for parking our van. 2 persons, no dog or cat. After long negotions we payed 150Q.
During the whole night there was traffic (heavy trucks - semis) on the road nearby. At 4:30 am ! on the other side of the road started fireworks and loud music. But the pool is great.

Coming from Baños we parked 300 m before the marked point at a pull-out. Good, if you come late like we. Nice views of the canyon and waterfalls in the morning. For us much better than sleeping in town, very quiet, no light.
We changed „tent- friendly to no“, because you will not pitch a tent on a paved road. We let the “showers cold” , because you might take a shower under the waterfalls.

Open but not free at all! 250p per person PLUS 150p for the car. We didn’t stay and just parked a few meters away at the beach. There’s a sign saying “no camping” but we asked the police officer if we can sleep in the car here and he said yes right at the parking lot we can stay - for free.

I was given a space on the ground behind the truck then later they moved me into a nice room where i slept on the floor. They are a relaxed friendly bunch and have a 2 nice doggies.I'd say there's not much space for more than 2 cyclists, but you never know.Must be gone around 6:15am,which is the same for most bomberos.I couldn't connect to wifi.
