After taking the “beach access” road from the parking lot, there are a number of gravelly paths leading down to the water or to overlooks, all suitable for camping. We have a 2WD van that was fine on the roads, but some looked more daunting and we chose our path wisely. Bathrooms in the parking lot, so if you want that you should stick closer to the lot. We went down almost to the water, and saw upwards of 30 RVs on our way out. Lots of others, but plenty of space to share! We didn’t feel crowded or bothered at all, and the sunset / sunrise were KILLER! We heard waterfowl and coyotes intermittently throughout the evening and morning, nothing that annoyed us or made us feel nervous.

The one downside was the bugs at dusk. They swarmed us at first, but once we put our lights a few yards away from the van and our cooking setup, the bugs barely touched us. I’m sure a campfire would work well as a repellant! Our site and most others had fire rings.

We thought we’d have to pay the $25 single vehicle fee at the park entrance on north shore rd, but we were able to use our national parks pass to get in for free. We felt so lucky to find lake mead on our way from Death Valley to Zion!

Pulled in to check it out and some kids in a red pickup truck started doing donuts and yelling at us. We decided to move on.

Big parking lot, well lit. Feels safe. Slept a full 8 hours in the back of my SUV here.

Stayed for a night. Residential on the other side so be quiet and mindful. Had no issues and felt pretty safe at night.

We were send over to Dons from Franziska (Orosi Cabinas) since they had a family member that passed away that day so they didn‘t take campers.
It was already late so we needed a place for the night.
It is not a campsite but a parking space in front of the families house. The toilette only flushes with a water bucket so pretty basic, not really clean. Don speaks only spanish but was really friednly and nice. He was happy to see us and asked for 5000 colones for one night ( 2 Adults and 2 Toddlers with a 4x4 with rooftop tent). If you only need place to sleep save, this is it!

I’m not sure about the legality of this location but I arrived around midnight and never got hassled. I was the only one here and slept well with peace and quiet.

Camped here 1 night in tent. Surprised by the reviews as not impressed with this place at 200 pesos/night for a mediocre spot in a dusty environment with no water. Area infiltrated with flies. Traffic on dirt road thruout the day/night. Evident little maintenance has been done.

I think this place is great. Easy to find and while there is some noise from the main road, it dies off after 10/11pm or so. Loads of room. Path is hard dirt and flat, some small bumps but nothing major. Big rigs might have trouble as not much room to turn around if needed. The 'sites' closer to 210th St are more dense with trees if you want lots of privacy. If you follow the paths further West they reduce in numbers and guy can find spots that are more open and offer good views of the sky / surrounding hills and mountains. 1/2 bars of AT&T. There is a portapotty near the entrance - not sure if to accommodate campers or for the industrial site near the entrance.

As described, there is a concrete bridge here, but it is not possible to cross by car.

However, a motorcycle will have no problem crossing this bridge.

Hot springs seem nice, but there were three big groups camped right next to the tub and essentially monopolizing the springs. Seems to be popular with OHV people and those who run generators non-stop all day. Might be quieter mid-week.

This isn't the right location. Their office is now on the main street down from here, the big yellow house at the crossroad between "Santos Mardones" and "Manuel Señoret". It's open only in the morning 8:30 to 12:30. You can pay by card. We paid 43500 for our van (driver included) and 6800 for the other passenger. The ferry to Punta Arenas leaves at 2PM from the harbour 5km away from here.

I tried to update the coordinates, but we are not there anymore. Hope it's right! Just look for the big yellow house on the main street (Manuel Señoret).

Last stage of our border crossing marathon from Poland to Bulgaria at the speed of PCR test validity.
We crossed border Serbia => Bulgaria easily with our LC Troopy and 2 dogs. French polish passport.
All friendly border guards both side.
Quick checks on back and the only place where our PCR test has been asked since Poland.
After Bulgarian border e-motorway pass can be bought quickly.

Worked fine for staying overnight. There were several other RVs. A bit loud, but that's not surprising. I asked and a person working there said they don't have any potable water.

Very nice campground. They have a small general store as well as kayak and tube rentals for the Rainbow Spring. There are sewer, water and electrical hookups for the rv sites.
Oddly, we heard cows mooing all night long.

Disregard negative reviews. Stayed 4 nights in our big rig. We had a wonderful stay. Note, it is advisable to book or ring in advance. Sometimes the place is booked out by one group or a conference, in which case people turning up at the door might be turned away. A great campsite with wonderful views and facilities.

beautiful place!
green grass, nice huts, and incredible water colors.
the road to there is in bad shape but doable at a slow pace.
didn't stayed because of the price : 100 per adult and 50 per kid
so 300 for us to stay in our camper.... just crazy!
if price is not an issue then don't miss this place

Stayed here overnight with no issues. 3 short blocks to town square with food and various shops. We were the only ones parked in the lot.

They have a small RV park behind the casino. The front desk let us fill our potable water for free. We also slept in the parking lot with no issues.

When we for here, the road access to the beach was closed for winter. We continued on the road to the left, maybe a half mile, and found a large public parking lot downstream from the dam. Had a peaceful, lovely night there.

Wow! The name is true to form. this place is a desert sanctuary. The current owner is absolutely amazing. He just sold it so not sure what it will be like with the next owner?? Takes over mid April 2021. You really can't beat this place for the price. You can book on Hip Camp for $25. We booked one day and ended up staying for five. It's magical.
