Bape 2 is a large campsite (as big as 2 normal private campsites) with a gorgeous view down the valley and multipe big trees for shade. no pit toilet or bucket shower etc. incredibly quiet and alone, a wondering stopover in the heart of the CKGR. Have not seen any (small) game, but we usually don't get very lucky in the center area.

Beautiful place next to the dunes and beach. Warm welcome. Camping is runned by some friendly guys. Big flat space near the house. More space for 4x4 and tents up the dune. Lot of big trees for shade. Pit toilet and shower available. Paid 40dhm a night for Landrover with poptop, 2 persons and kid. Small entry, bit sandy road. They brought us fresh baked bread. Nice place with kids. Downside: lot of fly’s, bit windy. The place is on park4night too.
We had a really good night rest.

Food was good and a lot, but we were surprised about the pricing policy. We ordered the special: fried codfish for 8000 and asked if they can grill it instead, seemed to be no problem. On the bill it was 9900 then and they explained to us that the special is only for the fried one 😁 also 750 for the takeaway box without telling us

Charlie is a lovely human, but this isn’t a campsite.

Being allowed to use someone’s unclean kitchen / bathroom (with no privacy) does not constitute facilities. There is not actually anywhere to camp outdoors. It’s either the gravel car park / access road, or, the beach (which is public).

The location is superb, just across from the beach as it is. The pool & deck is great, but there were a loud bunch of people getting drunk there when I checked it.

Not really worth 10usd pp/pn, but still somehow a nice experience.

Corruption ! we went for the passavant (motobike), they asked for 40000 francs but it's free ! After a long wait (3 hours) and negotiation, we didn't pay. Until the last moment they tried to get money or gifts.

We have spent a quite night here and were the only ones camping in our van.
Arrived at 6pm and paid 200 pesos for entrance fees and camping. Wasn’t possible to negotiate this price.

Okay for one night, but I think the Visitor Center’s parking is much nicer. This area was very busy and on the next road there was a huge truck running the motor for many hours until 1 AM. Toilets at the bus terminal are very clean.

As far as parking lots go this was one was good. Safe, quiet, not a lot of privacy but that’s expected in a parking lot.

Metzeler tires. Also a nice selection of brake pads (EBC) and chains (DID) as well as plugs and patch kits.

More information: The officers at the Chilena office wanted a printout of the salvo conducto. The woman at the nearby tourist office on the square was so kind to print it for us. The road between the two border offices is quite narrow. Lots of trees with low branches. Still, we passed through with a 3.9 m high truck. However, if you are scared of scratches on your vehicle, forge it. You also cross 3 rivers. They had very little water. This can be different in spring. Anyway, beautiful drive. The officers at the control in Argentina were extremely friendly. All paperwork by hand, which takes time. They did not check our truck at all.

No entry with dogs. We were rejected at the entrance. The guard saw our dog and immediately said that it's not allowed. Also big signs saying "prohibido mascotas".
We went to Cañón de los Perdidos instead. Highly recommend that as an alternative if you have a dog.

We came here because we were rejected at Paracas because of our dog. We don't regret to be rejected. This place is just great. The drive is quite rough over bad corrugations at times but so worth it. Highly recommended.
There also a road/track coming from Palpa (see Maps.me) but we could not find a way to cross the canyon. So we would recommend drove back the way we came from in direction Chacaltana. Took us around 2 hours in a Landcruiser. It's possible with any car because it's only a thin layer of sand/gravel over solid rock. But as I said, lots of bad corrugations.

The place is absolutely stunning. Super nice view. $19 for our small RV. Pets allowed. No hookups but it's possible to charge quickly close to the pavilion.
The road to get there is quite steep though so would not recommend for big RV and trailers.

Spent the whole day (from 10am till 7pm) with Elias and his son Elias (nope it’s not a mistake) looking how to fixe some engine trouble of our VW combi van. I liked their approach and willing to help immediately without fixing an appointment. Return to their garage on Monday to change the oil. 500 pesos for oil, 120 for their work. Will see later how my combi was fixed but at least I received help and explanation and we worked together on my van. They also find a gas leak what I did not mention to them but smelled a lot of gasoline in the cabin.

It’s our first time at Walmart in 2.5 years of vanlife but it’s true that it’s complicated in San Cris to find a quiet place. We spent 3 nights here without any problems, alone. there are showers (cold water, Pemex workers told me) at Pemex next door as well as a tap for water (not potable). Walmart and WC open from 7am to 11pm.
Some green area to walk our dog. 10 minutes from the center (driving).

Simple no-frills RV park next to the visitor center, basically just a parking lot with large pull-through spaces and electrical hookups. $20/night via a self-serve kiosk. Well maintained dump with flush spigot and separate potable spigot on site. Across the street from a 4-star-out-of-5 restaurant and a Smith's grocery. Convenient access to Bandelier Natl Monument in one direction, and Los Alamos in the other. We stayed here when we arrived too late to get a spot at the Los Alamos East Gate RV park—permits there must be obtained across town from a facility that closes at 7pm, whereas this location in White Rock has a self-service kiosk that can be accessed any time of day or night.

Change CFA to Ougouiya before you leave, you will need it!
Take screenshots of the NEW Ougouiya bills and compare. Senegalese money changers want to give you old bills for the old exchange rate.

Bridge toll must be paid in CFA:
Motorbike: 4000 CFA
Car: 10.000 CFA
Truck up to 10to: 20.000 CFA

A superb place for 4x4 overlanding with rooftop tent.

Coming in from Kimana, Oldonyo Musa Camp is well signed on the road. Follow the dirt road for 500m and you’ll reach the locked main gate of the fenced compound. It should important to let them know your ETA to have someone on the gates, however you can press the bell and staff will open the gate. 4x4 are parked just outside the built walls of the tented campsite. The camp has decent facilities in terms of showers, toilets and kitchen. A fire is lit at night and you can sit in the common area and enjoy WiFi and charge your device. The camp is continuously expanding and will soon offer more facilities.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. A simply meal is available for a few extra KES.

Additionally, we were invited to an early morning walk that could offer stunning views of the area. Also, they offer recommendations of routes in and around Amboseli.

Proceeds of the camp go to fund environmental youth programs.

Stayed here for 3 nights and felt comfortable and at home from the first moment. Oscar was really wel coming and relaxed. The place is calm at day and night.

He has two dogs and two cats which we think he tries to take good care off. They get food daily and cuddles. One of the cats has infected eyes which for she gets antibiotics.

We could have stayed longer so definitely recommend!
