Ok. Mostly quiet night. We slept fine. We parked in the back of the lot by the semis. An RV was also parked back there. A cop came by and sat in a spot near us for a few minutes but didn’t bother us. No signs posted saying we weren’t allowed to stay but we didn’t ask inside.

Water dispenser in the Walmart toward the back of the grocery section.

McDonalds inside

I wouldn’t ask the customer service lady where anything is. She, unfortunately, is probably the rudest person I have every encountered. The other employees are ok.

Good place in the savana. In view of trail but nobody passes here. Except for a motorcycle that we think lives near. We went to the other place "piste menant à sand creek" but it's a little exposed and we found this better place with a beautiful sunset.

Wild, secluded place by the river. Surrounded by forest, lots of firewood, clean river 10m away, some views of the mountains.

To get there take the first right just after the bridge on RN7 (beginning present on OSM map, continues futher along the river). The gravel road is in good condition, doable in 2wd. Our spot is around 2km from the main road, You may find similar/better spots upstream. The sand on beach was solid at the time of writing - no problem in 2wd - but check before driving in.

Big rigs would easily fit the beach but may have problems with the access road.

Would not recommend staying in rainy season as there are signs that the river sometimes reaches the beach.

You’ll see it on your right if you are going to the mountain. Beautiful view and very quiet during night. There are some fire pits and a small sanctuary for the virgin.

This is a nice farm where you can park your vehicle while you hike to Choquequirao. It’s 20 soles for the time you leave. There is a simple bathroom and cold showers. The views from the snowy peaks are wonderful.
The road here is through a tight path and there is a little wood bridge that you gotta cross, a bit technical but we made it fine with our Ford e250. The gate is 3 meters tall by 3.3 meters wide so your rig can’t be that big.
If you rather do a guided tour to Choquequirao, like we did, contact Dayme, the owner of this farm. He took our stuff with donkeys, cooked 3 amazing meals a day, told us incredible stories and showed us the archeological site, he is a book knowledge. Dayme was the head of construction when they built the path to Choquequirao 25 years ago, he really knows everything that needs to be known in the area. He speaks very little English, and he is a bit deaf so speak loud and you will be fine. We almost went on our own but it was a much better experience to have a guide and really learn a lot about the area, the history and the people.
Contact Dayme Sullcahuaman Lopez before you arrive to arrange your visit and inquire about prices

small rich neighbourhood behind, This place is right after. It has, on both sides, big green area and it is super quiet day and night. We had no trouble here and felt safe. The street is lit. Our cats had so much fun out here in the tiny jungle.

Big parking lot by boat dock. Level spots available but much of lot is a bit sloped. Scenic. Next to the water and next to the iOverlander site to the left (as you face the water). The left site was blocked on New Year’s Eve and they told us we could park on this spot. Free and no time limit. Other campers were there.

They must have changed ownership because they had no recollection of previous Overlanders. We got charged 15.000 for the 2 for the night in our roof top tent. I don’t think there restaurant still functional. But the place is really cozy and great to stop on the way to and from Cocuy.
Also, there is a height limit, we at ~2.6m entered no problem. But if you are taller, have a spotter.

The guest parking lot in the town of Groveland does not have any ‘no overnight parking’ signs. I parked here overnight (was the only vehicle) and was not bothered.

It was very quiet and I had good enough service with my Verizon jet pack and antennas to stream Netflix and work. My phone worked decent in 1-2 bars as well.

I suspect nobody cares if you park here during the off-season but in the summer you may have a different experience. There are restaurants nearby within walking distance.

14 pesos/kg. So I paid about 135 pesos for a full big bag !(~1m high). Good service, dropped it around 10:30am and ready at 1pm.

No cash in the ATM. I was told there hasn't been any all week. American Visa doesn't work at the restaurants. American Express did. El Chalten is expensive, very crowded. after 15 places, finally found a room to stay for only two days. Can't wait to get out of here.

3 parking lots by the trailhead to aguas turquesas. We stopped at the first one since the road gets too narrow ahead for wider rigs but it is more flat at the last one.

The day parking is free if you eat a tasty local trout dish for 10 soles or donation based otherwise. Overnight is 5 soles per vehicle. Bathrooms and water available.

Just about any vehicle can make it, lots of small cars up here but huge rigs might have issues with the somewhat narrow road

The name of the company is not Technocenter but Autotech. Diego is super helpful. Our rig was too big for his workshop. He recommended to go Marllantas, which is very close.

i am right beside at the hidalgo park, parked there for couple of
hours to work in the van and no problem. If you decide to buy food around this area, don’t do it in the plaza/marina street, go up one block and amazing cheap Mexican food there !

Beautiful blue aqua blue river with small tan pools. Similar to Semuc Champey in Guatemala or Grutas Tolantongo in Mexico.

This is the turnoff to get there, 2 soles per person at the gate. 1 km easy walk from the parking lot. Many views from the top plus a couple of waterfalls at the end. You can swim in the river but it’s cold.

The road in is in good shape from east or west, any car can make it in. About two hours from Huanca Santos in the west or 3.5 hours from Ayacucho in the north through Huancaraylla
