750ARS/night, clean bathrooms and hospitable family that runs it. For us it is a perfect place to spend a few days. Dogs are allowed.

Nice facilities near the ferry. Not too full at high season. Huge field for unpowered. Good walks. Handy small stores. Powered sites $25/ pp. Day use fee $5/ pp. Laundry, shower, kitchen, etc. Cash only in an honesty box even though, Brent lives right there and there is WiFi.

The place is definitely open, year-round. If the owners are not around when you arrive, you are welcome to drive into the front yard, and hang out until they arrive. (we had parked in the back yard, where you have to drive around to the back gate...more secluded from the road). Owners are at the house at these times:

8am - 10am
1pm - 3pm
8pm onwards

You can also contact Maria Inés to communicate your arrival and ask questions.

They speak primarily Spanish, but use Google Translate a lot.

I can not say enough nice things about this family. They are warm and generous and welcomed us into their home immediately. They invited us to join them at the table where we shared English Tea, homemade apple crumb cake, and toast with homemade jam. While we sat and talked (with lots of Google Translate help) our 5 year old plopped down on their couch watching cartoons and getting one slice of toast after another from Maria.

We parked close to the house to get the wifi, which is slow at times, but decent enough. Otherwise, we just hung out on the couch in their house. Lot is level enough for us to detach our camper, and take the truck into town for repairs. Had electricity, and of course usage of their very nice bathroom inside the house. They have adult children now, and are very comfortable with small children about the house. They are social and helpful, and really just lovely people. Wish they were closer to town, but oh well.

No longer an option. They have clamped down on this operation. I have spent 1 week waiting on this with no luck.

There are other ways should you need to get over to the mainland.

The official Toyota service and sales center in Khartoum. Opening hours: 07:30-15:30. No reservation is needed, just roll in as early as possible. Starting to be more people at 9:00.

Park in the parking spots outside, go into the office and state your business, the representative will then tell the guards to open the gate for you to drive in.

Caution: Puma fuel station with petrol and diesel. They also sell Castrol oil. They tried to charge us an extra 20L by distracting us when they started filling up and presenting 2 separate receipts at the end (apparently he had restarted in the middle of the fill up). Make sure it starts at zero and watch the entire fill up. We caught it because the mileage didn’t add up.

The place has been cleaned up, but toilets still not very clean. Price went up to BwP100 ‘because there were a lot of tourists visiting the place’. 😀

Expensive at 45000, but got a discount to 30000 cfa - still expensive, and the food is too.
However the room is great & it’s location is really peaceful. It has only been open 6 months so everything works.
Small pool & terrace overlooking the beach & sea.
If you don’t mind the price it might be worth a look in. There are a few other places next door but they were not prepared to negotiate.

Hidden behind the dunes. As it’s close to Khartoum there are more people around than further out in the desert. However, we hid behind dunes and no one came anywhere close or could even been seen.

Nice solid surface to camp on and a quite easy path from the main road.

Can get a bit windy as the desert is really flat.

Wonderful place to stay over night, warm welcome, served a big piece of meat and salad plus large drink for 6000CLP, 12000CLP for one person in a two bed room including breakfast, all of that homemade, shower was hot but watch the time because there might be a boiler behind you empty over the time, would return with pleasure ... would be hard to find something better at this price

Big parking lot by boat dock. Level spots available but much of lot is a bit sloped. Scenic. Next to the water and next to the iOverlander site to the left (as you face the water). The left site was blocked on New Year’s Eve and they told us we could park on this spot. Free and no time limit. Other campers were there.
