***Fees*** quiet little ground with about 15 sites. The park itself is beautiful; hiking trails, lake, historical sites etc. A good spot if your coming or passing through Charlotte.

All as described stayed one night to visit the ruins in the morning. Busses start rolling in around 10 am and all gone by 4:30. They spend their time cleaning their rigs. No problems at all. Would use this spot again. Parked here in a 25' Class C towing a car. I did not let the dog loose as there is garbage and broken glass around. They appear to be trying to clean it up by piling it and burning.

We talked to the very friendly and helpful owner of the Aqua Purificada Store on the other side of the Street if it’s o.k and safe to stay the night here in town- he highly recommend to stay here and not along at the MEX15...so we ended up here and had a pleasant night- the noise calm down after 10pm.

side road with a lot of space to park, also big rigs. its about 10 min walk to the main plaza. ica is a very busy and loud city so don't expect it to be a very quiet place but the road is not very busy at night, we had a comfortable night here.

Nice place with one dorm (4 people; bed 16.000$) and some patrimonials. Very nice patio. Big breakfast with home made bread, home made joghurt, jam. Very clean, close to bars, restaurants and discotheques and cerro San Cristobal, but in a quiet area.

We spent a quiet night. Just one car passed by. Due to big trucks on the road, there are some rougher parts. So we do recommend a higher clearance.

It's been a bit of a rollercoaster. I came on Monday, got quoted $100 (Polish passport) paid in FBN bank (only new dollars accepted, i.e. with security strip) and 500k leones in cash in the embassy. The final receipt stated only the $100. The price depends on the nationality, there were two Germans with me and they got quoted $175 each. A Lebanese got a price of $148. All need to bring the 500k. The Germans were told 7 working days is minimum time for processing, normal time 2 weeks. The Lebanese tried negotiating and he was told Friday as a collection day. I was told the same if I submit Tuesday before noon. The list of requirements lists 2 photos, invitation to Nigeria, residence permit, flight bookings & application form. I said immediately I am not a resident & they still allowed me to apply. I managed to arrange invitation, it's simple if you know someome, has to be typed, signed and accompanied by inviter's passport photocopy. I was told there would be interview on Thursday noon. On Thursday noon I was told the interview would have to be moved till Friday. On Friday the interview was very friendly and lasted maybe 10mins and I was told I could only pick passport on Monday and even that is an exception. I asked for Friday pick up and the answer was firm 'no'. Then as I was leaving they receptionist asked me to wait and after maybe half hour I got passport with the visa, single entry, 3 months valid.

a big sign which says
"no entry Ct11 privately leased area
no through road
no camping
no hunting ir shooting.
tresspassers will be prosecuted."
I guess this sign is made by "Jack's camp" as many people wrote on coments down south. We didn't cross and went left.

P.S look out on big spiders between trees and ostriches :)

Located at 795 Ignacio Sottomaier. Left laundry at 9:00 and got it back at 6:00 same day. VERY EXPENSIVE – Most we’ve paid in South America. 115 Br R ($30 U.S.) for about two loads. She charges by the kilo. I think it was 11.50 R/Kilo. I think her hours are 9 – 6 Mon. – Fri.

“No Parking” signs on the whole road both sides. Saw nowhere to park legally. The grassy field didn’t look like it should be driven on.

Roadside market with large grass lot and all weather gravel drive around looping around building. Park on grass to the West of the greenhouse clear of the driveway to stay out of the way of early morning delivery trucks. Camping is available most of the year. Business is open May through December but camping is not available September 10 through October (grass lot is used for pumpkin patch parking). Bathroom (but no shower) available during business hours. Be courteous to bakery employees arriving very early morning. $5/night, $5 more if electric is hooked up. Please email ahead [email protected]

Wonderful place to camp and climb (info at the Club Andino Mercedario). Super quiet place. There's a river by the road but it's not advisable for drinking since there's mining activity nearby. use only to wash dishes or shower. 25 km from Barreal city. Grave road in very good conditions. No need for a 4x4.

Still cheap 50 Cordobas per night per vehicle. the "nice place by the beach" is a really nice place by a great beach indeed. Its a parking lot with direct beach access with some shade bit not too much. lots of trash lying around only on parking lot
Usually nobody is around, but you can pay at their comedor" Comedor el Jicarito" about 300 m further down the road on the left hand side. I added a picture of the comedor. We could also use the toilet there. Stayed two nights.
Its next to a big hotel and restaurant which has wifi that also works on the parking lot.

Regarding safety: we didnt feel unsafe and had a great time but it really is just a parking lot with a 1 m wall around and no guard present.

nothing special on the 199. no road blocks.
I did see and heard from other travelers that sometimes they run lines with flags across the road to get you to stop to sell stuff or just get some money.
all these places I came across had their lines just lying across the road and the people looked pretty innocent (children/women).
so lucky for me, 0 issues.

We booked a tour for sandboard the Cerro negro, for 30USD. It is a bit expensive but the money is going for different project to help kids at school by providing books, furnitures or even by paying their scholarship.
Transportation is included, some snacks, pictures, two rides of the volcano and a shirt.
All the guides are volunteers and they even have to pay for their own food and room. We were happy to give our money to a good organism.

Superb spot above the road. Not visible from the road and excellent views. Flat and grassy area with lots of space. Even more space higher up.
Here's the catch: Road in is very rocky and steep (see picture). Speak L1 in a Landcruiser. Plus it is pretty exposed. We stayed a night during a thunderstorm. Quite an experience! We were fine, but you may end up here with the track washed away after heavy rains. So better only stay in good weather! Then it's awesome!

Nice place to spend a night. If you want to pitch your tent in a grassy spot, go to the back of the lot, also further away from the road. When I visited, annoying little black blood-thirsty flies were around.

Beautiful campsite overlooking a vineyard surrounded by stunning hills! I really enjoyed my stay here and I felt at peace with the nature. Tamara and Gilmar live 300 meters further from the camp, if no one is around for a moment just enjoy your stay already and there is for sure someone coming anytime soon.
