Adorable! Right on the beach with mangroves right next to it! We saw iguanas, crocodiles, and turtle! 400 pesos a night for a 22ft rig with our 3 kids. No showers, but good toilets. Fun place! My kids love it!

Beside the river. Boat launch. 14 full service back-in RV sites - $40. Grass unserviced area for tents and campervans - $25. No privacy, but still a pretty nice place. Volunteer run. Closed during the winter.

CBC at 95.5.

The park is really nice, but there were so many bees. :-(
They kept flying into my vent fan, so I left & didn’t stay.

Great spot! Second time here (first was in January).
The little parking lot is paid parking March-September on weekends, holidays, and special events. Free otherwise. If it is paid, there is a huge (100+ cars) gravel lot 150 metres down the road.

Currently 6 portapotties (pretty clean) by the little parking lot. Those weren’t here when I was in Austin 10 months ago.

Great view of downtown Austin & the park is nice.

If you’re looking for a peaceful, isolated spot, this isn’t it. The hills were filled with vans, RVs, trailers, jeeps, and other vehicles. As I pulled in to this location in mid afternoon, cars were leaving after a fruitless search. I left also. This would be a lovely place, except that everyone goes there.

Big open flats along the river. The road is not maintained and it's bumpy but we pulled our 25' trailer around no problem (slowly). We were there on a Friday night so there was some partying but not late. A few fishermen around and some ATVs. No issues. 2 bars of Verizon.

Parking near a park and the river. Has public restrooms that are open 5a-10p. Potable water at the restroom. No “no overnight parking” signs.

Close to downtown. Had a fun time kayaking the river today, and there’s a great spot for letting out just under the bridge here.

Nice view of the lake at sunset tonight.

I’ve camped in worse places...but not that quiet. People drove up on me at 1am and then turned on some music (quietly) and hung out until 2am or so.

At sunrise, fishermen started launching boats (Sunday AM), and then trucks and cars would come around for the view after about 8am.

If you’re looking for a quiet night’s sleep on a Saturday PM, this may not be it. May be quieter mid-week...don’t know.

The spot below the dam listed on IOverlander was closed, perhaps seasonally?

Slightly rocky road across the dam, but nothing a 2wd couldn’t handle slowly and cautiously.

On the way back to Delicias, I was pulled over by an older and young cop (Local Delicias Police), sitting under a tree in their old Nissan Sentra police car, who tried to shake me down. I didn’t offer a “mordita”, but they told me they would keep my license and give me a ticket for an “obstructed license plate”. I talked to them long enough in my shitty Spanish that their ears were probably bleeding and they finally let me go and move on to other easier targets.

Not sure if Sundays are the day the cops are on the prowl near Chihuahua or what...but saw 4-5 other folks getting pulled over through the day. Be vigilant, and just remember that every bribe you offer, encourages them to do it to the next traveler. I knew it was a BS reason, so I stuck to my guns and didn’t give in.

Cop knocked on campervan window at 2am and told us we couldn’t sleep there. There are no signs that say we couldn’t.

If you arrive at the "Stone Buddha", keep following the road to the right.
Pass the few stone-workshops, and at the end you'll find a nice patch of grass and gravel. Reasonably flat, though blocks are handy.

from here it's an easy walk to the "Stone Buddha". In fact, you can see it from here. (100 mtr. as the crow flies).

This place is convenient. To be honest traveling during covid has it’s challenges some campero have all together closed. They charged me 150pp to park my camper van. I was able to make it down the short road from the main Calle no problem. Now as of November there is NO HOT WATER. There is also NO INTERNET. It was a ok safe place to park and stay to go to the St Edwards gardens. The pizza place near here is excellent!!

Nice typical mexican national park with some viewpoints and the trail to the park as the main attraction. There is a map at the entrance of the park, but if you want to do the trail it is best to download a map on Alltrails or Wikilog before going up. You sometimes get cell service along the way, but usually not (or no data).

Entrance fee (not sure if once or per day) is 37 pesos per person.

The park is super pretty and definitely worth a visit. The roads are all doable in 2wd with driving skills (high clearance makes it much nicer). We saw all kinds of cars on the top. Even the road to the campground is doable in 2wd, but has some rough bits (valid as of November 2020, not sure if the winter will affect it).

One issue to consider though is the altitude, we made the mistake to come directly from sea level to the campground at 3600m and got proper altitude sick and needed to drive down at night to get better. Other travelers doing the same trip with us were fine, so it's a bit of luck if you get it our not. It is probably a good idea to sleep in the town at the mountain (1500m) or somewhere up along the way for a night or two to get adjusted if you haven't been in high altitude lately.

Just stopped here for drinks and a small bite. Very nice and peaceful place, nice staff wonderful location right at the lake. Easy to get here on tarmac. Wish we would have stayed here for the night instead of Mayoka Village further north.

Loved this place! The owners Sandi and Chris are very kind and welcoming. They also know a lot about the area and neighboring countries and therefore can give you good recommendations.
The whole place was very well taken care of. Some of the best sanitary facilities we've seen so far. You may also expect good quality and delicious food. It's worth having dinner here. Just need to order before, if you want to have dinner prepared for you.
The camping spots are nicely located with plenty private space around and sun shades.
We will be happy to come back!

Still good. Well-lit. Music plays in parking lot, but it's low enough to get sleep. Lots of loud trucks rumbling around tonight, not sure if that's usual.

great place to spend the night with amazing morning views. the hot spring is a little down the path. we stopped just before the springs to let people have some privacy when they swim.
we made it in a ford transit extra long high top, so you can too.
the hot spring is like warm, not hot though.
This place gets a lot of visitors so plan for that. we saw 6 cars drove up Saturday morning within 15 minutes of each other.
I give it 4 stars, the eating thing won't let me change it.

Made it here in our VW kombi, you do not need 4x4 for the road, but high clearance is recommend. The road is very lumpy/washed out in places and a couple of dusty patches early on which need some speed with 2wd. Camping does not appear to be included anymore, we paid 150pesos for 2 nights. Hiked up to the peak was worth it. Recommend getting here the night before to adjust to the altitude.

We got to the road but didn’t feel comfortable taking it with a trailer and 4x4. Looked like a nice view but narrow, rugged twisting road.

Nice & clean street parking close to the main downtown area. Once the Magnolia Market at the Silos closed at 5pm, then it started to quiet down. I was here on a Saturday, so I’m sure it was more noisy than usual. I did hear the train twice during the day, but wasn’t a big deal.

Plenty of room for vans, campers, and small/medium sized RV’s.
