Many thanks to Leanne and Calvin for this great place and the help of "renovating" our rolling home (T3 Westfalia). Calvin and I built an Alubox for the Luggagerack, some nice Interieur for our popup tent, as well as we fixed the injection pump. Working with him was so much fun! Jesus painted our Van and Victor made our frontseats. We wanted to stay approx. 3 days in our "old" Van and left after 3 weeks in our "new" Van ;-) We had a good time at the OO and could have stayed even longer as Leanne and Calvin are very welcoming and nice friendly people! I hope we will come back sometimes!

Wierd place. We didn't stay. Even with a big rig it's possible to drive on past here into the town; there is parking and a turn-around place a bit further on, but few overlanding vehicles would be small enough to go all the way through the high street to the very end of the road. Best go on foot.

a very nice mechanic, knows his work

we were there with an chevy van 20 from 95 gasolin and he fixed it without problems

the house is printed in the colours of the german flag (black-red-gold) so pretty easy to find, on the left side is a blue gate, thats the entrance just use the bell there or write him on whats app

Parking along the beach right in front of the campsite. Nice village between hill and sea. Fishermen sell their fishing on the beach. Opportunity to buy seafood and cooked crabs. Small grocery store and restaurants. A little lively the day but very quiet at night.

Very friendly locals. Do yourself a favor and have a great Mexican food or some drinks at the restaurant and you'll get a safe place to camp, right in front of the beach, with toilets, and BBQ grill to use. Not to mention to know some locals.

All the way to the lake you see dead trees... hard to understand why they cut all this beautiful old trees and than just let them there to rot - such a waste of natural beauty and sources.

It is not allowed to camp at the beach anymore - sign no vehicles and no camping, private land. But you can camp in the official camp near the house. Don't know how much they charge as we did not stay.

Great stop. Coffee and bread rolls and Home as jam - delicious! We were also offered a free freshly baked roll on our way out.

We spend a night on this big parking. Only a small shop with food and drinks. Free. A good place 80 km before Tamasopo if you went from Rio Verde

We were asked NOT kindly to leave:
We stayed at this place for 6 nights, nice spot, right on the beach, close to surf spot and town, it's true that the facilities could use a little bit more love and also not running down of toilet paper when you pay 400 pesos/day, but over all nice. We were thinking of staying an extra week, so we ask, kindly, to Christina, the owner, if they had a price per week. I guess no: she immediately started to be rude to us by saying that we were not well educated to ask a question like that, that she was well educated because she lived in the USA and that us "French Canadian" would be always winning in french (is that racism?) She told us that people who ask that kind of question must leave NOW... so we left, with a bitter taste.

Nice and clean hostel in SA de los Cobres. Hot water, wifi. We paid 450p (after negociation) for a twin room, breakfast is not included. The dueña is not really friendly, hard to negociate and want us to leave at 9:30 ... but it was the best deal we found in Town (now is the carnaval so lots of hospedaje are full)

Good Hostel, very clean and good facilities. Nice owners. They gave us a good welcome and were very hostile. We paid (high season) $ 30.000 for a room with two separate beds (2 persons) for one night and $ 50.000 for two nights.
We recommend this hostel.

Nice people, good safe spot for the night. Hola La Hola looks like an awesome bar/restaurante across the street. We only saw it when on our way out and bought some coffee there.

Lovely spot on beautiful lake with kayaks for rent, swimming, hiking, birds, restaurant, firepits, wood for sale. RV sites have no lake view. Bathrooms clean with hot water tanks, but we didn't take showers. We paid 200 pesos per night as we didn't need hookups.

Wonderfull place! 3 spots for car with roof tent with a place covered for cooking if raining. Clean and nice ablutions close to camping place. Hot water, can be only warm if rainy season. Restaurant and bar with a really wonderfull view on lake. Nice garden and direct access to waterfalls. Staf friendly. Bad road to get there but if you take your time, 1.30 hours, this is really the place to go. We were there under the rain and the road is definitively not a problem. Camping is 4500 MWK ppn. We used room for 21000 MWK for 2 because the view from there was wonderfull. You seem to be in the tree...incredible quiet and peacefull place.. try it!

Stayed here one night with our 2 dogs for 200 pesos. Room with fan and shared toilets and showers. Very clean all around. Right on beach. Though beach is extremely rocky and surf break is down the beach, walking among the rocks. Good waves though... Nice family that owns place.

Great deco, cool vibe. Great warm place to relax, 65 dor coffee, amazing pumpkin pue soup for 110.

Tried risotto as well, tasted good but undercooked.

Terrible pee smell in mens bathroom ruins it a little.

We liked it still.
