can confirm its not the safest, i walked through with a local and had slurs thrown at me the whole while i was there. the local told me to keep up with him, not to look around too much and not to take my money or phone out. aside from that though i thought it was cool, similar to any other local market in a major city across central.

Paddleboarding tours on Lake Bacalar.

Paul is an expat from Canada. He is an awesome and super friendly guy. He offers tours across the lake. If you've never done stand up paddle boarding before he offers lessons and is a great teacher! His rate is 500mxn per person and it is a GREAT deal. Paul is very knowledgeable and passionate about the lake. The tours usually take about 2 to 2.5 hours starting around 8am. He offers you coffee and toast and/or fruit before hand. You can find him on Facebook at Paddle Bacalar. We would highly recommend it!

To get to his place, drive through the Balenario. You'll see a wooden gate that enters his property.

sidenote: He may soon be taking over the Balenario and has some big dreams for sprucing the place up. Next time we're in the area we are definitely going to be coming back to see the improvements he has made!

Only cold water, even though we had asked two times if the water was hot. We got a 500 CLP refund, after some arguing.

Beautiful, small coffee finca and "organic, natural, sustainable, biodynamic" farm. Very friendly, energetic owner Javier and his lovely wife will welcome you with open arms and a cup of coffee. Javier speaks very clear Spanish and is easy to understand. He says you can camp wherever, but there's plenty of level space for 3 or so rigs right at the entrance. No height restrictions, but narrow road to get there. No 4x4 required. Camping was quoted at 20,000 COP p/p, but I'm sure it's negotiable. He does a tour of his finca for 20,000 p/p as well. His tour is better than visiting any Botanical Garden! If you do the tour, he might not charge you for camping. He also sells roasted coffee grown here, 15,000 COP for 500grams. There is a clean bathroom outside with toilet seat and TP, even soap and a hand towel! Water from the tap (agua de la llave) is not potable, but "boiled you can drink it." Also, the finca has 8 friendly dogs. Wifi is available

Very nice campground. Quiet, secure, easy access to centre of Tepotzotlan, Pueblo Magico. Low water pressure. Wifi only good near office. 250 pesos per day with seventh day free if you stay a week. Good deal. Be Aware - Hoy no circula rules apply on Saturday near Walmart. We got caught and paid 3000 pesos. Not sure if we were scammed by Policia Municipal. If we had not had cash, apparently vehicle would have been impounded for 48 hours. Ouch.

This place is now closed to camping. We talked with a guy on the property and he said the ownership has changed (not sure if he is the new owner or just a caretaker). We ended up at Berlin campground.

stayed there for a couple of days, did laundry there (only round 20'000 Pesos for a big load). Staff is lovely, very uncomplicated, especially Nelly :-) They offer coffee in the morning, but sometimes they don't mention it at the reception desk. Go and ask - Nelly will invite you! They also offer breakfast (we didn't have any).
Wifi is okay close to reception or directly in the kitchen (other password). Could fill up our water tank in the van for free. A little bit freezy during the night, but hey, nothing against some cosy time in the van, hehe.

This is a Brazos River Authority owned and managed park. Designated campsites with nice covered tables, grills, and fire pits. Nice bathrooms with flushing toilets, sinks, and showers with hot water and electricity.

The sites vary in size and there is also an open field area for large RV's or camping trailers however no RV hookups or dump stations are available here. A boat ramp is available as well.

The camping fees are $10 per campsite and an additional $3 fee per person per day. Credit cards and cash are accepted but checks are not. During the off season there is no charge to use the campground from the weekend after Labor Day through the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. (During the winter you may have the park to yourself.) During the summer, weekends tend to be very busy. The holiday weekends during the summer are...just don't even bother coming out. It's packed. Alcohol is allowed and the park is regularly patrolled night and day by local police officers and sheriff's deputies.

Ask about the nearby trails and boat rentals while you're here.

Went here but it’s like on those average horrible RV places. No atmosphere at all. They ask 44,- dollars a night and you have to pay for the wifi. We decided to leave.

B to P. Easy process on B side. Also there was a long line of people who all entered B (it is only 1 line for entry and exit together) all went fast and exit stamp was quick. Left vehicle TIP at aduana, no copy for us so I took a foto of the TIPs with exit stamp. It was our 2nd B-stay with vehicle and upon entering B the 2nd time the aduana was confused cause the 1st exit was not processed correctly and they said that our vehicles never left B. With a foto of the TIP exit we could prove it.
Entering P easy immigration. We asked for 6 month and were welcomed with 183 days permit. The P aduana on the other hand showed there bad side. Had been looking from the beginning to find something to give us a hard time to bring us in a defense position and asked openly for propina in the end. First they did not want to give us the same 183 days for the motos. Then he said the color of the moto didn’t match the entry in the ownership papers and we have to repaint the bikes 😂. We paid nothing in the end and got our full 183 days for the bikes. Don’t let them fool you!

Remote, quiet, clean, stunning view, this is the ideal Patagonian wild camp site! At the end of road (at the time of writing) just passed the bridge, make a right (-47.385932, -72.303614) on the dirt track and follow the tracks until you reach the lago. Plenty of space, few fire pits, zero garbage!

If you love books, you have to visit this place. It‘s the only bookstore around San Pedro de Atacama and the first bookstore in a rural region in Chile. The location is very idyllic and there is a great and varied selection of books. Most of them are of course in Spanish, but there are also a few in English. But what makes this bookstore really outstanding, is the very welcoming atmosphere. Visitors are not only offered free water, coffee or tea, it‘s also possible to visit the adjacent house and garden on a short guided tour. At this tour, you will learn more about the idea and the concept of the bookstore as well as the architecture and the materials that were used to build everything.

In our case, Mauricio, editor and cultural manager of the Librería del Desierto, did an outstanding job. We really enjoyed our visit.

We had the free boat booked for the first opening what was 2 weeks from today. Did all the hikes we could in Pumalin and decided to just show up today at 5ish and asked is it possible to fitnus in the 23:00 leaving ferry. It was! People here are super friendly and if you show up early enough they will but you in the next boat. Have to have the reservation before you show up here. Whatever dates, they didn’t care. Boat is full and some 8 passenger cars where left waiting on shore. I quess they will be on the tomorrow’s 7:00 one.
