This is the best place to stay to see the ruins. The ruins and the boat ride are wonderful! After touring the ruins, you can stay in the parking area for free. Ask the lady at the reception and they will leave the bathrooms open for you.
We took a swim in the pool after ruins and it was super refreshing. The resturant looks decent. We did not eat.

There is a paved way leading off Ruta 45 to the Magdalena River. Drive about 200 m and turn right into a small flat area just before the second yellow traffic sign. Very quiet during the night, some bugs around. You can pitch your tent well hidden from the road if you just follow a tiny path behind the trees and hills.

We stayed only one night but if we could we would have stayed much longer ! Martina and Johan are welcoming people and their little adobe house and garden are like a little paradise that they are building step by step with their own hands. Really inspiring people, we wish we will come back to Argentina to see the evolution of the place !

great spot just off the road under some trees. there's a small path leading down towards the river. there's a flat path under some trees which is perfect for a tent. probably not suitable for big rigs but a 4*4 could get down.

5000 pesos pp. Super nice place and so well maintained. The owners do a great job. We made up a fire in the firehouse and could grill our fresh trout. Some wind protection behind trees and buildings.

Camping with shade sites. Cold shower with really low waterpressure.
At evening/night it was really noisy with people who were listening loud music. No WiFi and no electricity.
Bathrooms are okay, not super clean But ok.

Price: 6500 pesos per person in a tent.
We asked where we could recharge our phones and they wanted 5000 pesos for the electricity. (Didnt do it)

buy car insurance and SIM card here. We paid 5000 dram for our 2.2 diesel 4x4 for 10 days in 2nd shop from the right. dont pay more!

The MTS viva shop at the left end is the only official shop and offers cheapest.

SIM card is 1000 dram with 900 balance in it. We choose SUPERBIT for 500MB data each day at 150 dram. So the initial balance is OK for 6 days.

We came here today with our Georgia-registered car. Leaving Georgia for Armenia.

Very smooth at Georgia border. Even not check luggage at all.

A little bit more for Armenia side.
Only the driver can drive through. All other passenger need to walk through.
If the driver also needs Visa on Arrival. Park your car at first, got your visa at room(only accept Dram, but there is an ATM ok for VISA/MASTERCARD), then go back to your car.
Checked luggage for two times but both very quick.
Declare your car to custom is nesssary.

But NO money paid here for now.

Insurance and SIM card are 100m after border. See the new POI I created.

Very well kept thermal baths. Spotlessly clean and well maintained. Restrooms clean, even TP and seats!

Camping is in the little gravel lot outside the fence, restrooms available 6am to 6pm when the thermales is open.

Heavenly hot outdoor thermal showers. Seriously, we stayed two days almost for those alone.

$4pp entry, $5 per rig for camping.

Has a different name now. Entrance is to the left of the modern bar down a narrow alley. Really nice little guesthouse. Arrived in the dark, had intended to camp in yard, but the rooms were only 5000 RF. Very clean, and simple room. Big enough to fit two bikes comfortably. Rooms have a shower and toilet. Bed has mosquito net. Lawn area looked great to pitch a tent , but I don’t know what price camping would be. Couple small shops and a bar near by for beer and cooking ingredients.

AXA building, 4th floor. Close between 1 and 3pm. Possible to park but 1000 FCFA.
Very easy and fast process, 10 minutes max, no copy of the passavant needed but just the original and a form to fill in the office.
Officially 2500FCFA for 15 days but as the officer had no receipt he offered it to us!

Sadly quite unhelpful and unfriendly staff.
Was a hassle just to get information on the documents needed.
Finally had the info but they sent us away and asked to come on Monday to apply.
They requested 85000 FCFA per person (!). There was an official document with prices, should be 33000 (2014, updated 38000 in 2018) for short stay/tourism. The 85000 are for “urgent applications” or non resident or people driving a car (never one straight reason), one guy told us it’s an informal rule for people transiting by car and not the real fees.
Left without applying as they would not go down on the price

A few pickups of teens came during the night with loud music. From 6am a lot (like 30!) pickups came to lauch their boat. So..... noisy! At 8am, the owner came to tell us that it is his property and that we cannot overnight camp.... Maybe at the little parking lot just after (Bayou teche hunting) it is better.... But fishermen went there also this morning!

We drove the road today but did not see any waterholes or bog close the given position. Several km west was one but not really deep and firm bottom. I guess such obstacles are saison/wheater depending. Yet this road is definitly rougher and with far more corrugation than the route via Lago Posados which we enjoyed on the way south

The spot is on the west shore of the creek and reached via a short narrow track. Twowheeler can get a bit further where there are some more grassy and level spots. There is room for a few smaller vehicles. Quite well protected from wind and sight. Nice fireplace available.

Because the Bolivian customs confiscated one of our motorbikes, we wanted to build a motorbiketrailer in Salta. Charlie was the first mechanic we stopped by and we needn't look any further:

He was enthusiastic about the idea and once we agreed upon what was necessary, he and his son Esteban went to work right away.

The trailer was three days work, during which we could sleep in the workshop for free!
Both Charlie and his son are very friendly and the whole neighbourhood knows them and says that Charlie is one of the best welders in Argentina.

In total we paid 4000 Argentinian Pesos for the trailer and 1000 kms down the road today it is still going strong!

If you need anything build or repaired; Charlie is your man.
