Long flat area in front of the beach. Seems popular for campers there were 4 vans + ourselves in a tent. Some small trees give you a bit of shade in the afternoon. The sun will hit you in the morning however once if passes over the (small) mountains / hills in the east.

Hello
So great place to stay for one night.
When we arrived with our truck Eduardo say that we can camp for free for the night near his pousada.
Normaly Eduardo ask you something around 50 reas for the night for a truck but if you take a tour in 4x4 and boat it can be free for sleep in your truck in this nice place.
We ask if we can go to Porto Jofre with our motorhome of 9 tonnes ans he tell me that it can be hard and dangerous...
He proposed a tour in 4x4 and boat on the river Cuaiba for our family for a really nice price.
He haved a reservation for 2 people 3 days later and he proposed the day for 800 reais for all the family of five with the food but I think that normaly it's around 1000 maybe be he do a good price because we have waiting 2 days on place.
So we stay 4 night free in the field near the quincho.
And we haved so much chance...we have see a jaguar during 15 mn and a lot of other animals during the boat expédition.
This man love his job and he is very friendly.
For the road....it was true..I think it's a good thing to stop here if you have a truck like us....after it was too narrow with the tree and and 2 bridges are not realy nice.
But you can try....!
For informations we are 8 meters long, 2.5 large and 3.7 high with 9 tonnes.
Here you will sleep with the pantanal music.....lovely.

Campsite has just opened recently (status June 2018) it provides basic toilets and huts, shower not working yet (if ever)
A hut is 20.000 IRR (2USD at time of writing)
Food and cold water is provided.
Parking for cars and motorbikes is provided (watch out for the deep gravel though!)
At the time of writing there was an English speaking electric engineer on site - others don’t speak English, but are very forthcoming and helpful!

Badap-e Surt springs are 20min walk uphill - getting up there with a fully loaded motorcycle is not recommended (very steep and sandy road uphill consisting more of deep potholes than anything else. Also quite slippery even when walking sometimes) cars with high clearance can do it.
It is said to visit early in the morning, when potholes contain more water.

This is a great place, the only one of its kind in the area. Roberto and his father have created a mellow hostel in a busy tourist town. The hostel is located a few blocks from the beach and backed by a field and a large quiet military parking lot making it a quiet safe place to park. Clean bathrooms with warm shower and a shared outdoor kitchen. They have a small tienda and restaurant onsite with covered seating and hammocks. There is also a billiards room with several pool tables, board games and a large tv. Roberto is happy to tune the tv to whatever you wish to watch- we were able to watch World Cup soccer here! There is a dance floor and they offer karaoke and dancing on the weekends. WiFi in the camping area and also at the restaurant.

From Haquira R63 is very rough gravel with rocks but i did it with an heavy push bike.
Here looks like that somebody want to keep the road closed for car and pick up, just motorbike or bicycle could pass without problem.

This is where you turn off of the main road to reach the main entrance gate for Akagera National Park.
Bumpy dirt road from here, but easily doable at around 40km/h (at least in dry season!).

We stayed here for one night on our way to the aktolagai plateau. It's an abandoned bitumen mine with nice rock formations. The site is on a little hill with a nice view over the plains. In the pit is a little water hole where camels came to drink in the evening. The road leading to this place is really bad and enough ground clearance is compulsory. But if you reach this place, it's quite and beautiful.

What a paradise up here on the hill! Laurence and Jacqueline ard extremely friendly and generous people. Let us stay on their grassy land, we could use the comfortable poolhouse to cook and eat, there is electricity, water and a bathroom. For us a wonderfull experience, especially in these rainy days.

Beautiful quiet grassy place who does not feel like a parking lot. We spend three relaxing days and did a dive trip to Cayo Cochino with Pirate Island Divers. Helen is a lovely señora and keeps this place well maintained.
